我刚刚问了一下我们公司的外籍教师,他指出这里是一个拼写错误,应该是subways and trains!
实际上,网上的试题是手动输入进去的,有人一开始就输入错了,成了grains,然后大家都ctrl+c 又ctrl+v的,所以以讹传讹,就都错了,我想原试题上应该不会错,就是有人抄录到网上的时候错误了,不信你可以google搜索一下“But now he uses subways and trains”,你能看到正确的版本

这个词组出线在四级试卷中,是讲到一个年轻的网站主管弃私家车而转向公共交通时提到的。subways and grains 可以理解为公共交通,如果要明确点的话,可以译为 “地铁和出租车”, 因为以人物的身份判断,他应该不会去挤公交巴士,而以grain 这个词判断,也应该是比较小的容积。
我觉得楼主不必深究这个词,理解全文的意思就好了。...
