Walt Disney
Walt Disney,the great film-maker,was born in Chicago in 1901. Disney's greatest wish was to be a famous artist . When he was a young man , he went to a newspaper office in Kansas City where he was living .He had some friends who worked in the office there. He took along some of his pictures in the hope of getting a job there. However , he had no luck . They looked at his pictures and said , "Sorry , young man . We don't think there is anything of interest in your pictures ."
Disney's friends tried to encourage him ."Don't worry ,Walt .We like your pictures .They are very good .We're sure you'll be well-known as an artist before long ."
Disney did not lose heart .He continued to draw lots of pictures .His family was poor and he used to sit in the family garage and draw pictures there .One day a mouse came into the garage and played on the floor .Disney stopped drawing and watched the mouse . The mouse came towards him ,so he gave the mouse a piece of bread . Then the mouse came and sat on his desk . Day after day the mouse came back and was given more bread . In this way over several days the artist and his mouse became good friends .
Some years later , Disney moved to the west coast of the USA . He tried to get work as an artist , but still he was unsuccessful . One day he remembered the mouse that used to come out in his father's garage . He picked up his pencil and started to draw . Day after day he experimented and drew different pictures of the mouse that he had known . At last he was pleased with one of his pictures of the mouse . He called it Mickey Mouse .
Disney's success as a cartoon-maker had begun . He soon drew other cartoon characters like Donald Duck and during the 1920s and the 1930s he made scores of cartoons about them . These cartoons were all short ones . Before the days of television , they used to be shown in cinemas all over the country before the main film was shown . Later Walt Disney made longer films . All of them were liked very much by children . Disney died in 1966 . But the studios which he started are still busy today , producing more and more interesting films .

The Walt Disney Company is the third largest media and entertainment corporation in the world,after News Corporation and Time Warner.Founded on October 16,1923 by brothers Walt and Roy Disney as a small animation studio,it has become one of the biggest Hollywood studios,and owner of eleven theme parks and several television networks,including the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).The works of the Disney Company are the most translated works in the world,according to the Index Translationum.

迪斯尼里的Space Mountain最刺激了!在排队等Space Mountain是发生了一个小插曲——地震,于是迪斯尼的工作人员给我们了一张Fastpass卡,他们说一小时后可以随时进入,不用排队.Space Mountain就是在音效和立体的宇宙画面的烘托下,在室内乘坐高速的过山车.刚开始,过山车是一个下坡,然后上坡,一上一下的,我觉得不算太恐怖,还在欣赏宇宙的星空呢!突然,过山车向左歪了,吓得我赶快闭上了眼睛.感觉我的心好像悬了起来,自己好像要向外飞出来一样!之后睁开眼睛后,看到眼前之景,就好像真的到了太空中.过山车又向右边歪了,因为我做在右边,这么一歪,我好像要掉下去了,就紧紧的抓住扶手.过山车一会儿往左,一会儿往右,重心不稳,上上下下,失重的感觉好象心到了嗓子口.你看不到轨道,看不到车,只能看到“太空”.Space Mountain最吓人的就是不知道下一步会怎么样.让我中途有头晕的感觉.不过我很快就恢复了.终于,Space Mountain结束了.大家下了过山车.Space Mountain真是名不虚传.

Not just American children,but children from all over the world are receiving some kinds of influence either mild or deep from Walt Diisney -- a cartoon character creations enterprises.In a certain stage of a child,the Disney fastasy world would be an important part of his life.

As Mickey Mouse’s father, Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Disney was raised on a Midwestern farm in Marceline, Missouri, and in Kansas City, where he was able to acquire some rudimentary art instruction from correspondence courses and Saturday museum classes. His insistence on technical perfection and his unsurpassed gifts as story editor quickly pushed his firm ahead. The invention of such cartoon characters as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie, and Goofy combined with the daring and innovative use of music, sound, and folk material (as in The Three Little Pigs) made the Disney shorts of the 1930s a phenomenon of worldwide success. This success led to the establishment of immensely profitable, Disney controlled sidelines in advertising, publishing, and franchised goods, which helped shape popular taste for nearly 40 years. Disney rapidly expanded his studio facilities to include a training school where a whole new generation of animators developed and made possible the production of the first feature-length cartoon, Snow White (1937). Other costly animated features followed, including Pinocchio, Bambi, and the celebrated musical experiment Fantasia. With Seal Island (1948), wildlife films became an additional source of income. In 1954, Disney successfully broke into television. By the time of his death, the Disney studio's output amounted to 21 full-length animated films, 493 short subjects, 47 live-action films, seven True-Life Adventure features, 330 hours of Mickey Mouse Club television programs, 78 half-hour Zorro television adventures, and 280 other television shows. On July 18, 1957, Disney opened Disneyland, a gigantic projection of his personal fantasies in Anaheim, California, which has proved the most successful amusement park in history with 6.7 million people visiting it by 1966. The idea for the park came to him after taking his children to other amusement parks and watching them have fun on amusement rides. He decided to build a park where the entire family could have fun together. In 1971, Disney World, in Orlando, Florida, opened. Since then, Disney theme parks have opened in Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong.
