我觉得这里的关键是虽然…… 但是她还是……,所以才会在进行additional 额外的实验来进一步证明

这里就有点强调“但是她还是注意到了,听进去了教授的意见,has heeded现在完成时,表示这一建议“已经听进去了,考虑在内”,所以才会现在来多做点实验来证明,所以是is conducting,.
我觉得这里如果是Although she considers her chemistry reserch complete,her professor's advice has had an influence on her and now she is conducting three additional experiments.这里表达的意思差不多,也是尽管她觉得实验比较全面了,但是教授的意见对她产生了一定的影响,所以她现在在做额外实验来证明.
其实很多时候用有些句子用一般现在时和现在完成时,从语法上来说都是对的,不过用现在完成时就更着重于强调某些对现在造成的影响,效果之类的,这些还是要根据句子的实际需要来判断的~
