Li Dong is a young man of twenty-five.Five years ago,when he finished middle school,he didn't go to college(大学) and came back to his village.But he didn't want to be a farmer.He went to a city and tried to find a job.He lived there for a year but got little money.He had to come back again.With his parents’ help,he planted hundreds of apple trees.He took good care of the trees and this autumn he picked a lot of apples.He sold them and got much money.Soon he bought a motorbike from a shop.When he rode it,he felt very happy.
This afternoon the young man went to town by motorbike.When he came near to the crossing(十字路口),he saw an old man walking in the middle of the road.He wanted to stop his motorbike,but it was too late.It hit the old man and he fell off.Luckily,the old man was not badly hurt.
“Why didn't you look around while you were crossing (穿过) the street?” shouted Li Dong.“I’ve ridden my motorbike for six days,but I’ve never hit anybody.”
“ Don't show it off (炫耀) ,young man,” the old man said angrily.“ I’ve walked in the town for about sixty years and no motorbikes have ever hit me ”
