Happy Christmas按中文来翻译是圣诞快乐,但是这是中式英文,真正的应该说为Merry Christmas ,这才是真正的圣诞快乐的英文意思.

我问了下英国、美国、加拿大当地的朋友,是这么个意思：
英国人普遍说Happy Christmas,因为Happy没有卷舌音,发音比较容易；而美国人普遍说Merry Christmas.
在英文解释里,Happy表示快乐,而Merry有令人感到快乐的意思.如果一个人乐,还不如大家同乐,所以一般都用Merry Christmas.

英语倾向于使用Happy来表示对单个节日的祝愿,如：HAPPY Birthday,HAPPY Mother‘s Day,Happy Easter,HAPPY Thanksgiving,而Merry用来表示对连续数日的节日的问候,如圣诞节.
Merry Christmas实际上源于英国一个名叫John Calcott Horsely的人.据说英国人圣诞节互送贺卡的习惯大约始于十九世纪初,不过那时候的贺卡都是自己手工做好之后写上几句祝愿的话,而Horely则是第一个批量印刷圣诞贺卡的人,当时贺卡上印的就是Merry Christmas ；；and a Happy New Year to You,以后人们大都如法炮制,及至如今.
如此说来,关于Happy和Merry的问题其实就是一个约定俗成的问题.汉语类似的例子也很多,譬如“二两饭”和“两两饭”.二和两同为数量词,但我们只说“二两饭”从不说“两两饭”；我们只说“三三两两”从不说“三三二二”.

为什么我们说“新年快乐”而不说“新年高兴”呢,道理一样的,习惯问题.
当一种表达成为习惯时,没有为什么,因为大家都这么说.

其实我们通常说的"圣诞快乐"是merry christmas,因为美式英语的常用方法,从词性上来说happy christmas也是对的,但是他们已经习惯叫merry christmas,如果用happy christmas就有点司空见怪了.

圣诞快乐只有两个常用的固定用法：
Merry christmas
或
season's greetings
其他的都是旁门左道,用起来让人不舒服.

都行,只是Merry Christmas 是习惯用法,就像一些固定用法.还有说法是happy表示很长一段时间,比如happy everyday.而merry祝福表示一段时间的祝福,特定指圣诞节这段时间

在朗文词典里面,Merry Christmas 的意思等于Have a happy time at Christmas!
Merry 的意思是欢乐的,愉快的.即Happy and cheerful.
我觉得Happy 也可以表达圣诞快乐,不过没有Merry 表达的意思全面,而且Merry Christmas 的说法已经是约定习俗的,就没有必要用Happy Christmas了.
