to be honest,两种说法都不太合适.
I suppose 跟I guess 的相近,都是“我认为”“大概”的意思.单独使用的话,其实是省略掉了一个so,所以单说 I suppose的时候,对方理解的其实是“I suppose so （大概就是这样.）”.这种用法可以表现出不以为然的感觉,但中心意思还是“肯定”.
例如：
A:She‘s the prettiest girl in our school!（她是校花!）
B:I suppose./ I guess.(也许吧)
在后面加上it was/it were,基本意思仍是“肯定”,所以如果你的原意是“不赞同”,那么使用I suppose很容易引起别人误会你是在附和.
其实只要把你的意思说完整就好了.英语的思维还是比较直接的.
比如可以这样说：“I suppose it was true before.（以前大概是真的,也就是说现在不同了,这句话是符合你的原意的.）”
或者不用 I suppose,I guess,I think这样的句型,直接说 “It used to be that way,but it's different now.(以前如此,但现在不同)” 或者更复杂一点,“I'd agree if we were back in 2003,but time's different now.（如果是03年那我会同意你的说法,但如今时代不同了）”...诸如此类.

Physically your friend is independend of you, so it is meaningless to describe a friend as a second half of self.


A firend can never be yourself, even part of you because your friend has his own brain and you two have different mind and views towards the problem around you even though sometimes you would share the same view.

选C,宾语从句,what作从句的主语

completely修饰ENCLOSED,如果不要前者,后者也要去掉,这样holding it in the hollow of his hand.这个句子hold就跟后面的IN没有关系,除非比如用INSERT.
用ENCLOSE,这里的意思是那个物体是被“握住,用手包着的”的,去掉ENCLOSE,HOLD的意思就是这个物体是“拿着的”,意境不一样.
