用is homework是不可数名词.

前面使用wasn't,过去发生的事情.句意：我的精神没有放在他说的话上所以我恐怕错过了他一半话,精神没放在他的话上是过去的事情,因此错过是同时发生的也是发生在过去.
他说的话是过去就发生的事情,所以不用将来时.

half of +可数名词单数,谓语动词用单数

of是介词,因为介词后应接宾格的形式,whom是who的宾格形式,所以填whom而不是who.
