　　读叶芝的诗并不算很多，但却很喜欢他这首《柳园》，据作者自陈，这首诗是由一篇不完整的民谣改成。我很喜欢这种朴实无华的民谣风格的诗作，再想到这是诗人少年时的作品，在淡淡的轻语中必藏着火一样的激情，便觉得这短短的几行文字颇值得玩味了。诗人总说自己年轻糊涂不听爱人真心的劝告，可那纤纤的玉人在身旁教我如何不爱的发狂。她在我身边轻轻的安慰我，劝告我又让我对她更加的依恋，于是爱在柳园里，河水边，远堤上肆意的蔓延。然而青草如许，一切情愫都被埋在柔软的泥土里，心中荡漾的碧波，被无华的诗句淡淡掩盖，无人知晓。但当她洁白的玉手在我的肩头轻扶，我的一切仿佛都要沉醉。
　　就单“And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.”一句，总是让我想起曾经深爱过的一个女孩子，她的双手也洁白如雪，轻灵如玉。每每读到这句万般感慨便在心头激荡，有时也不免泪水沾襟，便知道读诗是要用真情读的。读到心力憔悴便也就有了颗诗心。
　　作者含蓄的笔法让人有读宋词的感觉，恰好两段，暗和词上下两阕，悠悠情意真不知源自何处，古今诗情也许本自一理，因为人心最柔软的那一部分，怕是东方西方，古往今来人所共有的。可知诗不仅仅是超越时间的，还是跨越空间的。
　　1.是爱尔兰民谣.此歌是根据叶芝的同名诗歌〈Down By the Salley Garden〉谱曲而成，最初翻译为《柳园里》，是叶芝早年的诗作。他的早年诗歌韵律优美，感情细腻，辞藻华丽，象征意味浓郁，明显受到英国浪漫主义和法国象征主义诗歌的影响.

　　首先，这首诗象民歌那样语言质朴，可咏性强。从整个诗来看，诗人使用的词全部是单音节和双音节的常用词。只有“salley”也许不那么常见，但是，这个词却又对诗在感情的表达有着重要意义。柳树从原型意义来讲与悲伤的情绪有联系，在风雨中纤细的柳枝摇摆不定，这恰恰与人们在悲伤的风雨中无助的境况相似。另外，诗中使用重复的手法来烘托的主题：失落的爱。这种重复不仅是词语的重复（如young and foolish），而且是句式的重复。第二节与第一节的句法大致相同。明显不同的地方，则出现在每节的结尾，以此来表现自己未能接受情人的劝告而悔恨万分。
　　其次，这首诗在时态的运用上也有独特之处。全诗除了最后半行用现在时态以外都是过去时态。这说明过去对人们的现在具有十分重要的意义。在诗的最后，诗人用一般现在时是意味深长的。虽然对现在情况的描述只有五个词便嘎然而止，但是，由于诗人把这几个词放在全诗最突出的位置，所以给人以意犹未尽的感觉，读者可以通过几个词来感受“我”的广阔的心灵世界。
　　再次，这首诗貌似简单，但却向人们揭示了生活的哲理：对待爱情和生活，人们应当顺其自然，就象“绿叶长在树枝上”，“青草长在河堰上”。不然，会因为一时的“愚蠢”而遗恨终生
