unless 除非,如果不,等于“if not”本身就表示否定,
加上后面的I would not break my word还有一个否定词,双重否定变肯定.这样可能好理解一些：
I would not break my word,unless the sun were to rise in the west.我不会食言,除非太阳从西边出来（意思是我是经常食言的人）
如果要用unless的话,就得把would后面的not去掉才行.
__if_ the sun were to rise in the west,I would not break my word 即使太阳从西边出来,我也不会食言.
这里的if应理解为“即使”(表示让步)

Raise是及物动词.
Rise 是不及物动词.
