我觉得你还是听差了,sticky在美语中也不能发/e/音.
/ɪ/音和/e/音发音位置的确很接近,以/i:/音为标准的话,/i:/音发音位置舌尖靠近下牙,舌背离上牙堂几乎贴上,就留一个小缝.这样/ɪ/音的发音位置就比/i:/音靠后,靠下,也就是说舌尖离下牙的距离再大一点,舌背离上牙堂的距离再大一点./e/音舌尖也是靠近下牙的,但舌背的距离里上牙堂比/ɪ/音还要更远些.
