were it to snow =if it were to snow 这是一个虚拟语气的句子,意思是如果一旦下雪,由于这个句子中省略了if,所以用了倒装语序.

Only were it to snow exceptionally heavily might railway service be temporarily dislocated
"were it to snow"和"might railway service"都是倒装?

你把were it to snow还原就是it were to snow,这是表示在一般情况下或现在对未来动作猜测的形式“were to ”,might railway service倒过来就是railway might service ,这里把助动词提前作为倒装.

省略加倒装了,原为:only if it were to snow,这是if虚拟条件句,所以主句用了might,表示和将来事实不符.
if虚拟条件句:和将来事实不符,从句用一般过去时或were to do或should加动词原形,主句用would/might/could/should加动词原形.其中,当用were to do或should的时候,从句可省略if把were或should提前到主语之前.
