astonish:v.affect with wonder 使惊讶
A matter of repeated occurrence like this will not astonish people.
amaze:v.
1.affect with wonder
Your ability to speak six languages amazes me!
2.be a mystery(神秘,秘密;奥秘) or bewildering ( 使人困惑的;令人产生混乱的)to

astonish, amaze, astound:These verbs mean to affect a person strongly as being unexpected or unusual;
1.The sight of such an enormous crowd astonished us.
2.The successful laying of the Atlantic cable astonished everybody:its later breaks astonished no one; but after it was finally in operation. Many said that no future invention could surprise them.
3.I was astonished at his rudeness.
4.He was astonished at what he found.A man was lying in the box on top of a pile of woolen goods.
amaze:Amaze implies astonishment and often bewilderment;
1.The violinist's virtuosity has amazed audiences all over the world.
2.We were amazed at the ingenuity with which they solved their difficulties.
3.When the archaeologists reconstructed the fragments, they were amazed to find that the goddess turned out to be a very modern-looking woman
4.Scientists have been amazed to find that it can cut through the hardest rock with great ease.
astound:Astound connotes shock,as from something unprecedented in one's experience;
1.He was astounded when he heard his son had taken drugs.
2.We were astounded at the high cost of traveling in Japan.
3.The police were astounded when Mrs.Ramsay told them what she had done.

The Mother Goose stories,so well known to children all over the world, are commonly said to have been written by a little old woman for her grandchildren.According to some people, she lived in Boston, and her real name was Elizabeth Vergoose. Her son-in-law,a printer named Thomas Fleet, was supposed to have published the famous stories and poems for small children in 1719.However,no copy of this book has ever been found, and most scholars doubt the truth of this story--and doubt, moreover, that Mother Goose was ever a real person. They point out that the name is a direct translation of the French "Mere 1'Oye."In 1697 the Frenchman Charles Perrault published the first book in which this name was used. The collection contains(包含) eight tales, including"sleeping Beauty","Cinderella,"and "Puss in Boots."But Perrault did not originate(创作) these stories; they were already quite popular in his day,and he only collected them.
