三国时候,魏国有个人叫卢毓.他十岁就成了孤儿,两个哥哥又先后去世.在兵荒马乱中,他辛勤努力养活著寡嫂和侄儿,日子过得很艰难.他的为人和学问受到了人们的称赞.
后来卢毓做了官.他为官清正,任职三年多,提出了不少好建议,魏明皇帝很信任他.
那时选拔官吏,一般是凭人推荐,而推荐者往往只推荐有名的人物,这些名人多数只重清谈,不务实际,互相吹捧,因此魏明帝很不满意.在选拔中书郎时,魏明帝就下令说："这次选拔,要由卢毓来推荐.选拔的人不要只看名声.名声就像在地上画个饼一样,其实是不能吃的啊!"
"画饼充饥"的成语就是从这个故事中产生的.现在往往用来比喻用空想来作自我安慰,或者用来说明虚名是没有实际用处的.还有个成语"望梅止渴",意思和它相近.
掩耳盗铃
春秋时侯,晋国贵族智伯灭掉了范氏.有人趁机跑到范氏家里想偷点东西,看见院子里吊着一口大钟.
钟是用上等青铜铸成的,造型和图案都很精美.小偷心里高兴
极了,想把这口精美的大钟背回自已家去.可是钟又大又重,
怎么也挪不动.他想来想去,只有一个办法,那就是把钟敲碎,
然后再分别搬回家.
小偷找来一把大锤,拼命朝钟砸去,咣的一声巨响,把他
吓了一大跳.小偷着慌,心想这下糟了,这种声不偷扔谑歉嫠呷嗣俏艺谡饫锿抵勇穑克睦镆患保?
子一下子扑到了钟上,张开双臂想捂住钟声,可钟声又怎么捂得住呢!钟声依然悠悠地传向远方.
他越听越害怕,不由自主地抽回双手,使劲捂住自已的耳朵.“咦,钟声变小了,听不见了!”小偷高
兴起来,“妙极了!把耳朵捂住不就听不见钟声了吗!”他立刻找来两个布团,把耳朵塞住,心想,这下
谁也听不见钟声了.于是就放手砸起钟来,一下一下,钟声响亮地传到很远的地方.人们听到钟声蜂拥
而至把小偷捉住了.
故事出自《吕氏春秋·自知》“掩耳盗钟”被说成“掩耳盗铃”,比喻愚蠢自欺的掩饰行为.

战国时候,宋国有个农民种了一块地.栽下禾苗后,他希望它很快长高.结出果实.他每天都到地里去看,但禾苗长得很慢,他心里非常着急.怎样才能让禾苗尽快长高呢?
天气很好,艳阳高照,他到地里去把禾苗一一拔高.回家后,他很得意地对家里人说：“累死我了,我帮助禾苗长高了.”他的儿子到地里一看,禾苗全枯死了.
拔苗助长：原作“揠苗助长”,后作“拔苗助长”.

此则寓言从反面生动地说明了这样一个道理：遇事如果不从客观实际出发,只能是好心办坏事.

It has been over 100 years since the very first plane,invented by the Wright Brothers,flew into the sky.The first plane,which was made of wood,had only been able to fly for 12 seconds in the air,but it opened the door of the aviation world.
I wonder how the Wright brothers would imagine such a magnificent idea.They must have some kind of dream----human beings like birds,flying freely in space----they attempted various kinds of material to make planes,finally making their dream come true,although only a short 12 seconds for the first flight!
