He walked into what his builder's instincts told him would soon be a false pond, and he stood there and fingered the charms one last time
那按照一楼的解释的话,一个what ,还是带了俩动词,并且中间没加AND,这不是很错误的吗.what his builder's instincts told him.what would soon be a false pond
也就是说 the thing that his instincts told him.the things that would soon be a false pond.
因为按照一楼那样的理解 我觉得是说成这样比较合理:he walked into what his builder's instincts told him, what would soon be a false pond .

he walked into what (that his builder's instincts told him, what感觉类似同位语从句的东西,头痛了,不管啦.)would soon be a false pond
it ,to my surprise ,turned out to be.
to my surprise
and he stood there and fingered the charms one last time
charms n.
He walked into ( what would soon be a false pond),
what (that his builder's instincts told him)
