Then one day the mystery was solved.as i approached the school he was standing in the middle of the road holding out his stop sign.i was in line behind four cars.once the kids had reached the safety of the sidewalk.he lowered his sign andlet the cars through.to the first he waved and smiled in just the same way he had done to me over the last few days.the kids already had the window down and were happily waving their reply.the second car got the same greeting from the crossing guard, andthe driver,a stiff-looking businessman, gave a brief, almost awkward wave back .each following car of kids on their way to school responded more heartily.
every morning i continued to watch the man with interest.so far i haven't seen anyone fail to wave back.i find it interesting that one person can make such a(n)difference to so many people's lives by doing one simple thing like waving and smiling warmly.his cheerfulness armed the start of my day.with a friendly wave and smiling face he had changed the feelings of the whole neighborhood.

  Yesterday is a history,
  tomorrow is a mystery,
  but today is a gift,
that is why it is called Present.
  Yesterday is a history,
  tomorrow is a mystery,
  only today is a gift,
that's why we call it Present.
  Yesterday was history,
  Tomorrow will be a mystery,
  Present is gift.
  Dear friends:
To realize the value of ONE YEAR
ask the student who has failed a class
To realize the value of ONE MONTH
ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby
To realize the value of ONE WEEK
ask the editor of a weekly newspaper
To realize the value of ONE HOUR
ask the lovers who are waiting to meet
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE
ask a person who missed the train
To realize the value of ONE SECOND
ask a person who just avoided accident
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND
ask the person who won a silver medel in the Olympics
Treasure every moment that you have!
  Yesterday is history.Tomorrow is mystery.
  Today is a gift.
That's why it is called present*!
Show your friends how much you care...

It has always been a mystery to me ( ) city dwellers, who appreciate all these things, obstinately pretend that they would prefer to live in the country.
1.why 2that 3 who 4 where 5 whom 6 waht 7 which 8 .
that/why city dwellers obstinately pretend (that they would prefer to live in the country).
who appreciate all these things,是插入语,city dewellers 的同位语.
It has been a mystery that city dwellers, who appreciate these(同位语),pretend that they would prefer to live in the country.

D.
Fred and Madge have no problems. They get along exceptionally well and are good at working out any little difficulties that may arise. But their charming house is by the seashore and one day a giant tidal wave approaches.Real estate values go down. The rest of the story is about what caused the tidal wave and how they escape from it.They do,though thousands drown, but Fred and Madge are virtuous and grateful, and continue as in A.
E.
Yes,but Fred has a bad heart. The rest of the story is about how kind and understanding they both are until Fred dies. Then Madge devotes herself to charity work until the end of A.If you like,it can be "Madge," "cancer," "guilty and confused," and "bird watching."
F.
If you think this is all too bourgeois, make John a revolutionary and Mary a counterespionage agent and see how far that gets you.Remember, this is Canada. You'll still end up with A,though in between you may get a lustful brawling saga of passionate involvement,a chronicle of our times, sort of.
You'll have to face it,the endings are the same however you slice it.Don't be deluded by any other endings, they're all fake, either deliberately fake, with malicious intent to deceive,or just motivated by excessive optimism if not by downright sentimentality.
The only authentic ending is the one provided here:
John and Mary die.John and Mary die.John and Mary die.
So much for endings.Beginnings are always more fun.True connoisseurs, however, are known to favor the stretch in between, since it's the hardest to do anything with.
That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another,a what and a what and a what.
Now try How and Why.

James Watson, who helped discover the double-helix structure of DNA in 1953,has also had his personal genome sequenced and is offering it to other scientists for study. Both Venter and Watson have said they wanted to serve as examples to a public often afraid of genetic sequencing,in part for fear of being denied jobs or insurance coverage and in part because of privacy concerns.
One thing the researchers wanted to find was if an individual’s risk for disease is one—if a person carries the mutated Huntington’s gene,he or she will develop the deadly and incurable disease. But most other diseases are the result of a more complex interaction between genes and environment.

Ah! if any man sought to kill me, I would cry out, I would struggle, I would not suffer... Strike, strike, Naaman, strike, I tell you... No, I hear nothing. There is a silence, a terrible silence. Ah! something has fallen upon the ground. I heard something fall. It was the sword of the Executioner. He is afraid, this slave. He has dropped his sword. He dares not kill him. He is a coward, this slave! Let soldiers be sent. [She sees the Page of Herodias and addresses him] Come hither. Thou wert the friend of him who is dead, wert thou not? Well, I tell thee, there are not dead men enough. Go to the soldiers and bid them go down and bring me the thing I ask, the thing the Tetrarch has promised me, the thing that is mine. [the Page recoils. She turns to the soldiers] Hither, ye soldiers. Get ye down into this cistern and bring me the head of this man. Tetrarch, Tetrarch, command your soldiers that they bring me the head of Iokanaan. [A huge black arm, the arm of the Executioner, comes forth from the cistern, bearing on a silver shield the head of Iokanaan. Salome seizes it. Herod hides his face with his cloak. Herodias smiles and fans herself. The Nazarenes fall on their knees and begin to pray] Ah! thou wouldst not suffer me to kiss thy mouth, Iokanaan. Well! I will kiss it now. I will bite it with my teeth as one bites a ripe fruit. Yes, I will kiss thy mouth, Iokanaan. I said it; did I not say it? I said it. Ah! I will kiss it now... But wherefore cost thou not look at me, Iokanaan? Thine eyes that were so terrible, so full of rage and scorn, are shut now. Wherefore are they shut? Open shine eyes! Lift up shine eyelids, Iokanaan! Wherefore cost thou not look at me? Art thou afraid of me, Iokanaan, that thou wilt not look at me?... And thy tongue, that was like a red snake darting poison, it moves no more, it speaks no words, lokanaan, that scarlet viper that spat its venom upon me. It is strange, is it not? How is it that the red viper stirs no longer?... Thou wouldst have none of me, Iokanaan. Thou rejectedstt me. Thou didst speak evil words against me. Thy didst bear thyself toward me as to a harlot, as to a woman that is a wanton, to me, Salome, daughter of Herodias, Princess of Judaea! Well, I still live, but thou art dead, and thy head belongs to me. I can do with it what I will. I can throw it to the dogs and to the birds of the air. That which the dogs leave, the birds of the air shall devour... Ah, Iokanaan, Iokanaan, thou wert the man that I loved alone among men! All other men were hateful to me. But thou wert beautiful! Thy body was a column of ivory set upon feet of silver. It was a garden full of doves and lilies of silver. It was a tower of silver decked with shields of ivory. There was nothing in the world so white as thy body. There was nothing in the world so black as thy hair. In the whole world there was nothing so red as thy mouth. Thy voice was a censer that scattered strange perfumes, and when I looked on thee I heard a strange music. Ah! wherefore didst thou not look at me, Iokanaan? With the cloak of shine hands, and with the cloak of thy blasphemies thou didst hide thy face. Thou didst put upon shine eyes the covering of him who would see his God. Well, thou hast seen thy God, Iokanaan, but me, me, thou didst never see. If thou hadst seen me thou hadst loved me. I saw thee, and I loved thee. Oh, how I loved thee! I love thee yet, Iokanaan. I love only thee... I am athirst for thy beauty; I am hungry for thy body; and neither wine nor apples can appease my desire. What shall I do now, Iokanaan? Neither the floods nor the great waters can quench my passion. I was a princess, and thou didst scorn me. I was a virgin, and thou didst take my virginity from me. I was chaste, and thou didst fill my veins with fire... Ah! ah! wherefore didst thou not look at me? If thou hadst looked at me thou hadst loved me. Well I know that thou wouldst have loved me, and the mystery of Love is greater than the mystery of Death.
HEROD: She is monstrous, thy daughter; I tell thee she is monstrous. In truth, what she has done is a great crime. I am sure that it is a crime against some unknown God.
HERODIAS: I am well pleased with my daughter. She has done well. And I would stay here now.
HEROD: [Rising] Ah! There speaks my brother's wife! Come! I will not stay in this place. Come, I tell thee. Surely some terrible thing will befall. Manasseh, Issachar, Ozias, put out the torches. I will not look at things, I will not suffer things to look at me. Put out the torches! Hide the moon! Hide the stars! Let us hide ourselves in our palace, Herodias. I begin to be afraid. [The slaves put out the torches. The stars disappear. A great cloud crosses the moon and conceals it completely. The Tetrarch begins to climb the staircase]
THE VOICE OF SALOME: Ah! I have kissed thy mouth, Iokanaan, I have kissed thy mouth. There was a bitter taste on thy lips. Was it the taste of blood... Nay; but perchance it was the taste of love... They say that love hath a bitter taste... But what matter? what matter? I have kissed thy mouth, lokanaan, I have kissed thy mouth. [A ray of moonlight falls on Salome and illumines her]
HEROD: [Turning round and seeing Salome] Kill that woman! [The soldiers rush forward and crush beneath their shields Salome, daughter of Herodias, Princess of Judaea].
I am very sorry about the mystery ___ in Bell Tower Neighbor
I am very sorry about the mystery ___ in Bell Tower Neighborhood 为什么写happening而不是happened
4.介词后是可以跟从句的啊,这句子的结构我可以说:“I am very sorry 是主语,而 the mystery ___ in Bell Tower Neighborhood 是about后的一个从句,意为我很抱歉神秘的事发生”那我写happened是可以的啊,为什么不行?

就会有 the company is run by a young man.
当然这个句子有另一个正确的说法 i am very sorry about the mystery that happened in Bell Neighbourhood.

I quickly pulled myself together, "No. Yes thank you. But I was only joking; I do have some change indoors for my taxi fare. But please, would you let me take you for some tea and cakes, there's rather a nice restaurant quite close?""I'm sorry, I can't just now. I just don't have time. But I go to the town library every Thursday. I could meet you outside. Say at two o'clock? My name is Nannette by the way. What's yours?""Yes. Oh, my name is Edmond, but please call me Ed, most people do."I held out my hand and grasped a small, delicate and very female hand. Then, after this most unconventional of introductions—she was gone. Just how I would have been able to pay for tea and cakes, considering my lack of funds, was a question I failed to consider in the excitement of the moment. But that is how I first met Nannette. Our first meeting for tea was just a few days later. I was standing outside the library for ten minutes before she came running up sharp on two o'clock."Oh, hello Edmond, I mean, Ed. Do you know somewhere we can go? Have you been waiting long?"I noticed that she was carrying two rather large books. She seemed slightly breathless and she gave me the impression that she was somewhat frail. Apart from the books she held an elegant and seemingly expensive, if a little old fashioned, handbag. She wore over her shoulders a short, black cloak or cape, edged with a delicate sky blue motif."Yes. No, there is a rather good place about fifty yards away."My words stumbled out something like that in my attempt to answer her confused questioning. There was indeed a small establishment a little way off, a couple of paces down a side street. It was more like one of those numerous little refreshment places that one tends to see in small seaside towns; that are generally run by two spinster sisters. Gothic white script above the premises proclaimed: Black an White Tea Room.We went in and sat by a small table set for two by the window. The place was completely empty and seemed unusually quite. The noise and traffic in the busy street outside was barely distinguishable. As I sat there for those first few moments with Nannette, I had a chance to really observe her. Her face was pale and her eyes were largish and a sort of amber colour. I would have said she was wearing little makeup if any at all. I could not help thinking that her face indicated some suffering or adversity. There was something else, I was puzzled for a while, and then I recalled those words of Edgar Allen Poe: "There is nothing of Beauty that does not have some strangeness about it"."Well, Nannette, judging by those great tomes you are struggling with, we have something in common. I have my own small collection of antiquarian books and first editions my self".A small, elderly woman appeared and we placed an order for a pot of tea and a plate of cream and chocolate cakes. She bustled off and the conversation resumed. She listened to me running on about books and authors, valuable and rare editions I had found and sold. Nannette's replies surprised and delighted me, she seemed so knowledgeable, although this seemed rather precocious in one so apparently young. She seemed to possess a detailed understanding of the causes and development of the English Civil War. Her comprehension of 17th. Century England and the life of Charles the First was somewhat astonishing, not to say a little uncanny. There was no doubt that she knew her subject inside out, as my questions concerning some of the major battles of the era and dates drew out. Several times during our conversation she would suddenly say, "What is the time, Ed.? I don't have much time."I would glance at my watch and our conversation continued. After she had asked me this same question several times I asked her, "What do you do, Nannettee?"There seemed to be a far away look in her eyes and some sadness when she replied, "Oh, I just look after people.""I see. You must be a nurse." I remember remarking."I just care for people. But Ed, I really must go. I don't have much time."Her repeated remark made me glance again at my watch and say, "It has just gone four o'clock Nannette."Moments later we were on the pavement outside. I touched her hand, she smiled, and then she was gone. So for several months we met at two outside the library, went to the quaint old tea-room, had tea and cakes and talked into the late afternoon. However, sooner or later the topic came around to the 17th. Century, The English Civil War, and of then, always Charles the First. On every occasion she always mentioned that she had not much time, more than once during the course of an afternoon. Apart from her seemingly obsession about time and my curiosity as to what she actually did; when she would always reply that she; looked after people, or she cared for people: I believe that a genuine affection grew between us.afternoon sitting in the tea-room with my Nannette: there could be no mistake—it was she. I hurled the book from me and never opened it again. Many months later I returned to the library and made my way slowly back to that side street where the tea-room was. I don't know what I expected to see, but the place was all boarded-up and there were shutters over the windows. I never went back. Now, whenever I see a book concerning anything to do with the last half of 17th Century England, I feel nothing but a sense of repulsion. The period never had any great appeal to me anyway. I sometimes recall my afternoons with Nannette, and go over in my mind our conversations. But it is all a mystery to me. But then, what do I know? What does anyone know? I only know there are some things we can never understand—and, perhaps that is the best for us.

参考文(2):
We now know what was happening in Bell tower neighborhood. The director of the local zoo says that three monkeys escaped from the zoo and was still missing. The stuff of the zoo searched the whole zoo but couldn't find anything, except a note pastes on the cage where the monkeys used to be prisoned in. 'Come to the Bell Tower and look for us when the moon eclipses' with a drawing of a bloody death's-head on the opposite of that note. Three days later in the midnight, when the last thread or moonlight vanished and the aureola turned dark red like a bloody crescent, people came to the bell tower searching for those three monkeys. They walked through the dark, silent corridor and then climbed up the creaking wooden stair onto the top of the tower, they saw the three monkeys, being nailed on three crosses, their eyes were all opened but none of them was alive. On the floor, a sentence was written with the monkeys' blood. 'Happy Hallowmas'.
