楼主做题时,必须要注意上下文的语意和语境.

你所举的例子与题目还是不一样的.先来分析你的例句：
where/in which引导the place的定语从句,我想这里用where的原因你是知道的,因为place 是地点,那么为什么能用in which呢?因为后面的从句可以变成i was born in the place(Beijing).所以才可以用in which.但是题目里面的live时候不及物动词,后面没有名词,如果选A的话,in 后面就没有宾语,如果你要用A的结构,那么句子应该是he advised me to live in the place where the air is fresher.这样是可以的.正因为live是不及物动词,where是副词可以引导定语从句.
