Every one in the classroom started to laughing their hands off and starting screaming, patting on desks. The class looked a total disaster.“Out!!!” Mr. Hank finally managed to speak again. I thought he had a heart attack. “Out you go to the principal’s office and get the detention you deserved.”Well, they walked out and the class was back to peace again.“Anyway, such things as metal are conductors.” Mr. Hank carried on, trying to act calm. But only he wasn’t a very good actor. I kind of felt sorry for him. I mean, it’s quite hard to handle tough students like katlin. But what about Todd? He’s a genius in physics. Well, he probably freaked out by Katlin’s answer or was too embarrassed to make a speech.*********And it’s home time! Yappy!“Helen,” I ran across the hallway to her. “Have you heard Todd and Katlin got one week detention?”“Well, no.” Helen opened the zip of her bag. “Poor them.” There wasn’t any trace of happiness on her face which I expected to see.“You feel sorry for them?!” I nearly screamed. “Look, they deserved this.”“I know,” She said, closing the zip again, but it got stuck in the middle. “We can’t laugh at other people’s misfortunes!”She is just too nice, that means people can easily take advantage of her.“But remember what they did to you? I am now planning on revenge and I thought you would help.” Well, I didn’t.“No…don’t do that, I wouldn’t want that.” She was still fiddling with her zipper, cutting off some extra strings. “Forget it, learn to forgive.”

Chapter 18He turned around to hide a nervous gaze. Then took a bite of his doughnut, as if nothing happened.“What…what did you just say? One of what?”“I mean… I am one of… those vampire…” Andy noticed the astonished look on my face,“slayers.” He finally managed to finish his snatchy sentence.“Oh.” I let out a long sigh. “You scared me to death. Well, tell me about your career as a vampire slayer.”“Ummm…” He began, “I am intending to kill some vampires, but so far, I haven’t succeeded. But I have the ability to distinguish between a vampire and a human.”“Tell me about it.”“Well, vampires can’t see themselves in a mirror, and they are scared of the sunlight, garlic and crosses.”“But that’s the most common fact, everyone who has read ‘Dracula’ knows that.” I know very well he is only pretending, maybe to keep me interested. “You’re lying, aren’t you?”“Lying is such a strong word, you see,” He explained, taking another bite. “I’ve always wanted to be one, and I guess I was just showing off. Chapter 28Now that I am more determined about Andy breaking Todd and Helen up for his own desire, I despised him more than ever, for the sake of living. I placed the bag full of garlic bread on my desk when I arrived home. Mommy and Daddy were worried sick of me, they thought I had car crushed because I arrived so late. My life is a question, the biggest question among all, and so many small bugs in it. Maybe I shouldn’t worry too much; I don’t even know what my life was all about, let alone other people.Victor is heir to own Club Nova, and Andy is heir to own Club Flame, since his father owns it. And Club Nova is more famous, cooler, more luxury and better than Club Flame, of course. Maybe competitors do show up each other’s faults, by desperate. I still remember when he was desperate to keep me away from Club Nova. Things are making a lot more sense now.I walked to the back yard, getting a little fresh air. The full moon hangs up in the sky like a mirror, reflecting every little thing that happened on earth.I saw two dark figures on the long bench about 10 meters away from me, melting into each other. Gross, I hate people kissing in public spaces. Who is that anyway, seems familiar with me.Wait a minute.The whole world seemed to be crashing apart, falling onto me.Oh my God.Helen better not be seeing this.

Chapter 12Loud rock music could be heard outside the club, we got there just on time, thanks to my wisdom. Andy observed the big advertisement board saying ‘Club Nova’; he stared at the empty space deep in thoughts. He shut his eyes miserably, as if remembering something terrible. I grinned at Andy and stepped inside but he seemed to be dragged in very unwillingly.It was more of a cozy place then I thought. It was dark, and so crowded which brought me sense of security. I like being in dark places, with a few candles lighten up. But Andy’s cowardice broke the romantic atmosphere. He grabbed my arms nervously, glancing around, making sure we weren’t observed. He pulled down his cap, low enough to cover his eyes. While I searched for Helen’s tall thin figure, he was looking for someone else, very carefully, that is.He must be hiding from someone, I thought.“Jessica, let’s get out of here, I’m getting Goosebumps.” He pulled me by the arm. “But it isn’t chilly in here, in fact, it is quiet warm.” I wondered. “No jokes, get out as soon as possible.” It wasn’t easy to make the way out of that entire crowd when they were all dancing crazily and wiggling madly, I was almost smashed to a pie.I’ve never been to a night club like this before, where rock music was played so loud, I wonder if that earsplitting music would break my eardrum. But I like rock and roll music, especially when I need to wreak, anything, anger, pressure, anything. Older teens danced as mad as a hatter, on the table, that is, rather than a stage. And people were eating and drinking on the same table. That’s just disgusting, but teens like us ought to have some crazy excitements. Lights were all off and you might eat with your nose (laughing out loud). It was so crowed that people can squash you into pieces. And the worst part is, your dance partner started acting like a coward and wouldn’t stop being a shiftless infant.Maybe he does have a point; he has a reason to be aware. Because night clubs like this is a high-crime location, I’ve seen girls been murdered here on TV reports. But what the hell, Club Nova is a famous club; I have to risk for what I want. But I actually think this place is quite cool, maybe is just that darkness and evil atmosphere attracts people. I suppose I will meet someone, like in the movies, maybe not Prince Charming, but certainly someone mysterious and worth knowing.So I have every right and reason to stay here and have my time. No one can change my mind. No way I’m getting out of here.No way.Andy was anxious about someone and determined to leave, taking big steps towards the exit. “Stop it! Leave if you want, but you’ve not controlling me.” I grouched, struggling to free my arms.“I know he is here. The dreadful air is making me asphyxiate, I can feel it.” He pleaded weakly.“Who is here? The air is just fine; I bet you’re just too nervous, relaxing a bit. Just don’t think about it.”“Leave before it’s too late!” Andy remarked. He suddenly froze like a statue, his mouth dropped open but nothing was said or done.I force my neck to turn to that direction, and what came to view wasn’t anything unusual. It was Helen and… some. I patted Andy on the head. “You’re nuts.” I giggled. “Look, it’s just Helen and her partner. What’s to be afraid of?”“But…Exactly.” He replied tardily, his eyes with fear. “Come on, let’s go. Don’t let them see us.”“Why?” I asked as I waved to Helen, she responded with a smile. “Helen, we’re here.” I called out. Andy stared at me wide eyed in surprise. “Why’d you do that?”“Why wouldn’t I?” Andy’s behaviors were too much I could bare, but I decided to remain calm for now. Helen got the signal and is heading towards me… with another stranger.

Chapter 15I went closer to catch a better view, yeah, no wonder. It’s Todd and Katlin alright, kissing in the moonlight. I must be imagining! I robbed my eyes twice to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. No doubt, it’s them. I sank to the ground, still very confused.I should have noticed this earlier; I should have prevented this from happening. I should have shopped Katlin the day she offered to go to the mall with me. Or I should have smashed some of the garlic bread on her face the yesterday. Maybe I should have warned Todd. I should have done something!This is all my fault. No, it’s not; actually, it’s their fault. Todd and Katlin are going to pay for this. I’m going to make them regret for what they did, to Helen. Maybe I could get Andy to help me.I sneaked over and hid behind the big sandbox, catching this whole sight on my cell phone screen. My hands trembled a little as they mad the terribly gross squeezing and sucking sounds. I nearly threw up the soda I just had.All of a sudden, they stopped. Todd stood up, looking around. “What if someone is watching us?” That made me get hiccups. It wasn’t too loud, but loud enough to be heard.Katlin walked to him, trying to drag him back again. “Who’d be watching us? Everyone’s dancing inside.”Hiccups once again. It’s getting louder.But they didn’t seem to notice, and sat back down. I thought I would die of disgust but they started a conversation instead. I got it recorded on my mobile. It went like this. (K stands for Katlin and T stands for Todd)K: I’m a genius right? To come up with such an excellent plan. Now Helen thinks you are sick in bed while you’re here with me.T: I’m not so sure about this whole thing. What if anyone find out?K: Well, let them find out then. They’re going to find out sooner or later. So, when will you break up with Helen?T: Give me some time; I don’t want to hurt her feelings. She was nice to me; I don’t want to be cruel.K: But come on, you’ve got to, you promised and besides, Helen with find someone, I’m sure.T: Who? How can you be so sure?K: Her current date, I mean her partner. Of course I knew it, cus I planned this whole thing…That’s when I got goose bumps all over me. What did she mean she planned this? Yeah, she planned to get together with Todd, but she can’t make plans about Helen, what for? Only if Victor…but this is crazy. Hiccup again and they looked my way, awared.

Chapter 16“It’s probably just a rat, don’t bother it.” Katlin said in her what-ever-voice.Then I saw a dark shadow moving towards me, I nearly screamed but that would expose me. Instead, I swallowed hard, holding a pencil sharpener in my left hand. But things didn’t turn out so bad. It was Andy! I was just about to… he whispered hush.“What are you doing here Andy?” I whispered in a really low volume. “I thought you went home!”“Doing the same thing as you are.” And I think he meant ‘spying’, “I’m not such a coward as you define me!”I rolled my eyes sarcastically. Yeah, right. “But anyway, let’s get out of here! I’m sick of seeing them.”We sneaked back to the lobby on tip-toe.＊ ＊ ＊“What’s the deal here?” He asked, drinking from his glass.“Remember what I told you in the café this afternoon?” He nodded. “About Katlin is after Todd, and I guess she succeeded.” I continued.“I know, I saw them.” He replied calmly, setting down his glass really carefully, making sure no juice spilled. “But it’s their business anyway. We have no right to poke our noses in this matter.”“How can you say that? Helen is my best friend and I don’t want her to be hurt! Maybe this isn’t your business but it’s certainly mine! And maybe you don’t care a damn about her but I do.” I nearly blew up. I knew Andy wasn’t a selfish person but what has gotten into his these days?“But there’s nothing we could do! And besides, Todd and Katlin get together. Maybe that’s for the best! A guy like him is not worth caring about. If Helen sees this, she might not even care! And what does this whole thing have to do with us?”Something is seriously wrong. I can feel it!“We can get revenge on them! Helen will care, she’s sensitive! And it affects us because we are human, with caring hearts for other people. Unless… unless you are no human. You’re a cold blooded-animal like same bats in a cave, you have no heart, no spirit, no soul, only an empty body to support you!” I’ve never been this angry with Andy.My words offended him a lot. Especially the bat-in-cave part when a trace of sadness crossed his face.“You’ve taken me all wrong.” He said weakly, “We’ve got more important things to be worried about.”Really? We do?

Chapter 25We carried on without arguing. His mom drove on quietly, forgetting about all the disturbance she caused.Helen was embarrassed and dug her face to the glass. Andy remained still, deep in thoughts.The car pulled over at a large house. The one I’ve been to the yesterday, right before the disco. I hated the air; there was something bad about the air, full of hatred. I showed an expression of unpleasantness.Andy’s mom, Miss Bolton took us a tour around the house. It was big, luxury but not very neat. Everything was well furnished. The walls were ice grey and light so dim. Something ghastly about it, there were no looking glasses, which made the room seemed darker than ever.They stopped by the basement, where I was locked in for half an hour, I shall give the credits to Andy, for locking me in there just because he didn’t want me to go the disco in Club Nova.“That’s almost all, would you like to have a look in the basement?” Asked Miss Bolton. She could be such a weirdo.“No, that will do. Basements are no sight.” I didn’t want to see it; it reminds me of… spiders, darkness, etc. I daren’t look the smallest look.“Let’s have dinner now.” She announced.We took seats in the large dinning room, only it is extremely dark, like a cave.Andy’s mom placed four big plates of Pasta. “Dinner served.” I knew how to make these, it’s like you put boiled pasta in a big plate and squash some Ketchup and mustard on it. Slice some cheese on top; put it in oven for 10 min. And ta-da, ready.I thought she was going to bake us pizza. She said that in the car.But of course I didn’t ask, it would be impolite.“Mom?
