英语是语义先行,汉语是语序先行. 在英语句子中,一般先说出主、语、语(或：主、系、表）,然后再把修饰成分（定、状、补）放在被修饰成分的后面,就是说那些次要的成分最后补充.英语句子的逻辑结构往往依靠语法意义来表达. 汉语的意义特别依赖词语的顺序.因为词语在一个句子里的顺序,就表了它的意义.举个简单例子：“我吃饭了”“我吃了饭”“饭,我吃了”.你看,三个句子,都是四个字,语序不同,其表达的意义可能不同.一般来说,当你完整地说出一个汉语句子,它的意思才表达出来. 以你所说的为例,“努力学习”,要说出完整四个字,才知道要表达的意义了,仅仅说出“努力”,听话人根本不知道说话人要表达什么意思.而英语的“study hard”,如果你只说“study ”,听话人大概就知道你说话的主题了.“hard”只是来补充说明程度.
