except for 和except两者意思都是：除了……外的意思,大部分情况下两者意思都是一样的,就是用法上会有区别.except后面可以接短语也可以加句子,而except for 只能加短语.
but意思是：但是……,大部分代表的是转折,是先阐述一件事情一个观点后面再给予一个反方面的观点.
