Juyong Pass is in the middle part of the Great Wall Defense System,hence it is also named as Middle Pass.During the middle period of Ming Dynasty,the emperor ordered General XuDa to build this pass.With the character of "Thousands of people wouldn't be able to go through this pass if one man was presented here",which means it owns a unparalleled status on both politics and military use,three emperors of the Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasty have entered the middle part of China through this pass.
In the middle of this pass,there exists a marble construction called the Cloud Terrace with exquisite carvings on it.This Cloud Terrace was firstly built in 1345.There once exsited three pagodas named Crossing Street Pagodas.Unfortunately,these three pagodas were destroyed during an earthquake.Later in the year 1439,Tai'an Temple was built,but it was destroyed by the fire in 1702,so the only remaining structure is the Cloud Terrace below.Inside the turnup shade door there are carvings on the walls,on which are figures of Buddha and the four Gods,as well as the scriptures.
