单从字面上来看，seminar是研讨会，培训会，journal club是杂志俱乐部，两者差异还是蛮大的。

1. Submitted to Journal当上传结束后，显示的状态是Submitted to Journal，这个状态是自然形成的无需处理。2. With editor如果在投稿的时候没有要求选择编辑，就先到主编那里，主编会分派给别的编辑。这当中就会有另两个状态：① Editor assigned 编辑分派② Editor Declined Invitation 编辑拒绝邀请，这时主编不得不将投稿文章重新分派给其它编辑。3. Reviewer(s) invited说明编辑已接手处理，正在邀请审稿人中。有时该过程会持续很长时间，如果其中原因是编辑一直没有找到合适的审稿人，这时投稿者可以向编辑推荐审稿人。4. Under review审稿人的意见已上传，说明审稿人已接受审稿，正在审稿中，这应该是一个漫长的等待（期刊通常会限定审稿人审稿时间，一般为一个月左右）。当然前面各步骤也可能很慢的，要看编辑的处理情况。如果被邀请审稿人不想审，就会decline，编辑会重新邀请别的审稿人。5. required review completed审稿结束，等编辑处理，该过程短则几天，长则无期，科学堂有一篇文章出现required review completed状态已近一个月了，还是没有消息。6. Decision in Process到了这一步就快要有结果了，编辑开始考虑是给修改还是直接拒，当然也有可能直接接受的，但可能性很小，呵呵。7. Minor revision/Major revision小修/大修，这个时候可以稍微庆祝一下了，因为有修改就有可能。具体怎么改就不多说了，谦虚谨慎是不可少的（因为修改后一般会再发给审稿人看，所以一定要细心的回答每一个审稿人的每一个问题，态度要谦逊，要让审稿人觉得他提的每个问题都很有水准的，然后针对他的问题，一个一个的做出答复，能修改的就修改，不能修改的给出理由，而且都要列出来，文章的哪一段哪一行修改了最好都说出来，记住：给审稿人减少麻烦就是给你自己减少麻烦！另注：有时，审稿人会在修改意见里隐讳里说出要你仔细阅读某几篇文献，这时可要注意了，其中某些文章可能就是评审者自己发表的，这时你最好在你的修改稿中加以引用），修改后被拒绝的例子也多不胜数的。8. Revision Submitted to Journal修改后重新提交，等待编辑审理。9. Accepted如果不要再审，只是小修改，编辑看后会马上显示这个状态，但如果要再审也会有上面的部分状态。一步会比较快，但也有慢的。看杂志的。10. Rejected

最近在海洋方面的学术期刊 IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering (简称 JOE) 投递了一篇文章。这是第一次向期刊投稿，在此记录一下整个过程，供大家做一个参考。 待投的稿件称为 manuscript ，写 IEEE 的期刊稿件可以用官方提供的 模板 ，提供了 Word 和 LaTeX 两种模板，这里就不讨论二者的优劣了，我的看法是只要用起来顺手就行，最终的发表版本会有期刊编辑重新排版优化。 上传的稿件为单栏、双倍行距，目的是为了方便 Reviewer 审稿。稿件一定要注意一些基本的拼写和语法问题，这可能会影响 Reviewer 对稿件的第一印象。 上传后可以在系统中看到稿件的状态出现： 表示投稿成功。接下来就是等待期刊 Editor 为稿件安排一位 Monitoring Editor 。Monitoring Editor 可以由作者推荐，如果没有推荐则会由期刊方面指派。Monitoring Editor 的作用是寻找合适的 Reviewer，综合 Reviewer 的意见作出 Decision，并与通讯作者进行沟通。选定 Monitoring Editor 后系统显示： 之后就是寻找 Reviewer 的过程： 寻找的过程可能会被拒绝： 但最后会找到合适的 Reviewer： 然后就开始了无法预知的等待，等待时间由 Reviewer 的效率决定，这段时间能做的只有祈祷。我的这篇属于相对较快的，大约不到两个月后 Review 结束： 这时 Monitoring Editor 将会综合 Reviewer 的意见对稿件进行最终的“裁决”，做出决定后通讯作者会收到 Monitoring Editor 的邮件，决定是录用、修改或拒稿： 上面的状态说明对稿件的意见是 Revise and Re-Review ，也就是说对稿件做修改并需要交给之前的 Reviewer 重新审稿，等于说稿件需要大修。 修改稿件是投稿过程中很重要的一步，Monitoring Editor 会将 Reviewer 的意见通过邮件发送给通讯作者。作者要做的是对意见逐条认真回复，指出在文章中对应位置所做的修改，最后将意见回复连同修改后的稿件一起上传至系统。我的体会是回复一定要态度诚恳，不要漏掉任何一条意见，对于与 Reviewer 意见不同的地方委婉地提出，这些都会决定 Reviewer 今后的态度。 由于收到修改意见时正好遇上农历新年，加上意见很多，花了一个半月的时间才修改好。第二次上传后系统返回的信息与第一次基本相似： 随后状态变为： 这时应该是 Reviewer 再次开始审稿，系统可能省略了一些步骤。大约一个半月后，Reviewer 的审稿和 Monitoring Editor 的决定完成，系统显示： 这次和第一次有一些不同，意见变为 Manuscript Revise Only ，也就是说只需再次修改稿件，不需要再发给 Reviewer 审阅，相当于小修。这次花了不到一个月修改重新上传： 由于不需要 Reviewer 过目，处理的速度明显提高，不到一天就收到了通知，依然是小修，但通讯作者收到了邮件：稿件已经被接收了，后续只需按 IEEE 的规定修改一些语法、标点问题，上传源文件即可： 准备好源文件上传后不到一天系统显示稿件接收： 至此整个投稿过程就结束了，全程持续时间将近 7 个月，据说对于 JOE 来说已经算快的了。 这是我第一次向学术期刊投稿，这半年时间里，等待审稿的过程非常煎熬，Reviewer 的问题非常刁钻和棘手，写回复时很痛苦，但这个过程其实是一种很好的历练，对于自己更深刻地思考自己的研究内容十分有帮助。 希望这篇文章能为初次投稿的朋友提供参考，祝各位的文章早日 ACCEPTED ！
