I am a long distance runner. When I was thirty-one, I was in a serious car accident. The doctor told me that they would try to get me to walk “normally” but I would never run again—terrible news for someone who views running as the oxygen(氧气) she breathes. The doctors were right. For the next nine and a half years, I was unable to run more than twenty-five feet.
In 2006, I began self-training to take part in a 60-mile walk. Three months into preparing, I realized that walking 4-5 hours a day was too long. If only I could jog(慢跑) part of it—that would cost me less time. I started jogging without my knees aching. Slowly, I increased the distance. The doctor were proved wrong—it only took nine and a half years to do so.
While practicing, I suffered a loss—a dear friend suddenly died. His work had been to help women to accept themselves and reach their fullest potential(潜力). He believed that people should let nothing hold them back from achieving their goals. Soon after his death, a crazy thought entered my mind: what if I could run the LA Marathon? I knew that if I didn’t train to my fullest, the doctor would win. So I trained seven days a week. And I succeeded in crossing the finish line of the LA Marathons all over the United States to the astonishment of my doctors. They never believed that I would achieve that.
The aches and pains I experience while training and racing are nothing compared to the suffering people whom I respect must accept.
小题1:What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 1?
A.She didn’t believe what the doctor said.
B.She often felt it was hard to tolerate.
C.She loved running very much.
D.She lost heart after the accident.
小题2:The author tried jogging because she wanted to ______.
A.save some time B.protect her feet
C.get more exercise D.catch up with others
小题3:Why did the author decide to join in the marathon?
A.Because she was so sorry for the loss of a friend.
B.Because she was encouraged by her dead friend’s words.
C.Because she wanted to prove the doctors were wrong.
D.Because she wanted to make more friends.
小题4:What does the underlined word “astonishment” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.Surprise. B.Sadness.
C.Disappointment. D.Anger.

Sharon has been a serious runner for six years. She has completed three marathons and several shorter races. Each week she runs about 20 miles.
Her favorite shoes? A $25 pair of Champion shoes she bought at Target. “I like running in simple shoes,” she said, “The more you pay, the more trouble you get.” She is right. Money often buys higher-quality goods, but not when it comes to running shoes.
Over the last forty years, running has been popular as a leisure (闲暇的) sport. In 2009, 476,000 runners took part in a marathon. In 1976, the number was just 25,000. Sales of running shoes reached a record $ 2.36 billion in 2009, 60 percent more than ten years earlier.
But some of those dollars may not have been well spent. In 2007, Scottish researchers tested running shoes at three price levels, ranging from $80 to $150, and found that low-cost and mid-cost shoes within the same brand protected runners’ feet just as well as high-cost ones, sometimes even better.
“The common idea is that if you pay more, you will get better shoes,” said Abboud, director of the Institute of Motion Analysis and Research at the University of Dundee in Scotland, “Our research did not show that.” Professor Abboud and his colleagues have just completed a similar study, as not yet published, with nearly the same results.
If you want to run well and run safely, consider fit first and price last. “You want a shoe that helps you keep a balanced position,” said Mark Montgomery, manager of the JackRabbit Sports store in Union Square in New York, “A more expensive shoe is not always the solution.”
“The less you think about a shoe, the better,” said Ms Bakoul, a marathoner.
小题1:According to Sharon, ________.
A.expensive shoes will give you more trouble
B.higher-quality shoes will protect your feet better
C.taking part in marathons is very important for runners
D.running about 20 miles a week is the best for your health
小题2:From the passage the reason why much money is not well spent is that ________.
A.it was spent on running
B.it was spent on high- cost shoes
C.running needs the cheapest shoes
D.money often buys higher-quality goods
小题3:From the passage we can infer __________.
A.running as a leisure sport will be no longer popular
B.Professor Abboud thinks the common idea is right
C.Ms Bakoul is against the research results
D.Mark Montgomery agrees with Sharon
小题4:What’s the best title for the passage?
A.The More, the Better B.Run Well and Run Safely
C.The Less, the Better D.Fit First and Price Last

根据全文提到“合适些才是最好的鞋”和文中“If you want to run well and run safely, consider fit first and price last.”

He is a famous runner.
Running is good for your health. 还有一种用法:如:I like running.
另外一种:现在进行时 He is running now.

LISA,a runner,work hard Lisa, who is a runner , works hard.
The country that its military strength is weak and poor has a population of 30000.
The country whose military strength is weak and poor has a population of 30000
非限:The country ,whose military strength is weak and poor, has a population of 30000.
The country ,of which military strength is weak and poor, has a population of 30000.

You are always saying I am growing so fast.
Computers are getting smaller, and computing faster and faster.
The next morning, the teacher asked the boy, “ How did you find the answer so quickly?”
The young man ran away quickly.
So I tried my best to find the answer quickly. Soon I found it.
Soon they sere in the middle of the river.
I think it’ll fit me quite well before long ( = soon), Mum.
2.B

He is chairman of the Students’ Union.

you must be a good thief because you have stolen my heart,
and i am always a bad shooter because I Miss You Always…..
If you drop me i will break if you hold me i will shake
if you need me i will hurry,if you don't call me i will worry
if you hurt me i will cry but if you leave me i will die.
Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give;
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;
And the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Pharaoh and the message runner
Pharaoh and the message runner
Pharaoh and the message runner
In ancient Egypt, the pharaoh(法老)treated the poor message runner like a prince when he arrived at the palace, if he brought good news. However, if the exhausted runner had the misfortune to bring the pharaoh unhappy news, his head was cut off.
Shades of that spirit spread over today’s conversations. Once a friend and I packed up some peanut butter and sandwiches for an outing. As we walked light-heartedly out the door, picnic basket in hand, a smiling neighbor looked up at the sky and said, ”Oh boy, bad day for a picnic. The weatherman says it’s going to rain.”I wanted to strike him on the face with the peanut butter and sandwiches.
Several months ago I was racing to catch a him As I breathlessly put my handful of cash across the Grey hound counter, the sales agent said with a broad smile ,”Oh that bus left five minutes ago.”Dreams of head-cutting!
It’s not the news that makes someone angry. It’s the unsympathetic attitude with which it’s the unsympathetic attitude with which it’s delivered. Everyone must give bad news from time to time, and winning professionals do it with the proper attitude. A doctor advising a patient that she needs an operation does it in a caring way. A boss informing an employee he didn’t get the job takes on a sympathetic tone. Big winners know, when delivering any bad news, they should share the feeling of the receiver.
Unfortunately, many people are not aware of this. When you’re tired from a long flight, has a hotel clerk cheerfully said that your room isn’t ready yet? When you had your heart set on the toast beef, has your waiter mainly told you that he just served the last piece? It makes you as traveler or diner want to land your fist right on their unsympathetic faces.
Had my neighbor told me of the upcoming rainstorm with sympathy, I would have appreciated his warming .Had the Greyhound salesclerk sympathetically informed me that my bus had already left, I probably would have said, ” Oh, that’s all right I’ll catch the next one.” Big winners, when they bear bad news ,deliver bombs with the emotion the bombarded(被轰炸的)person is sure to have.

A. was mad at the sales agent
B. was reminded of the cruel pharaoh
C. wished that the sales agent would have had dreams
D. dreamed of cutting the sales agent’s head that night.
4.What is the main idea of the text?
A. Delivering bad news properly is important in communication.
B. Helping others sincerely is the key to business success.
C. Receiving bad news requires great courage.
D. Learning ancient traditions can be useful.
