以前的牌子是GLEE，是快乐的意思，后来被人家抄袭了，于是换成的GREE, 谐音跟以前一样，取意格外有力，英文的意思是杰出胜利，所以选择了GREE，其中文是由格力的创始人朱江洪董事长书写的，比较有书法功底。据说格力（GREE）的商标名称包含了GLEE（快乐）、GREAT（伟大）、GREEN（绿色）等含义，但我宁愿更简单地理解为“格外有力”。世界名牌嘛，没有超人的力量如何成就得了？力量何来？董明珠的答案似乎很简单：诚信！
