THE WOLF AND THE LAMBA Wolf meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea, which should justify to the Lamb himself his right to eat him. He thus addressed him:"Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf, "You feed in my pasture." "No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother′s milk is both food and drink to me." On which the Wolf seized him, and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won′t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations."The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.

The Wolf and the Lamb WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf"s right to eat him. He thus addressed him:"Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf , "You feed in my pasture." "No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother"s milk is both food and drink to me." Upon which the Wolf seized him and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won"t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations." The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.

如: Thank you, sir. 如: Good morning, sir. 如: -Can I help you, sir? -Yes, please show me that hat.

或Sir Denis Thatcher, Bt.)。

The Lion and the Mouse A LION was awakened from sleep by a Mouse running over his face. Rising up angrily, he caught him and was about to kill him, when the Mouse piteously entreated, saying: "If you would only spare my life, I would be sure to repay your kindness." The Lion laughed and let him go. It happened shortly after this that the Lion was caught by some hunters, who bound him by strong ropes to the ground. The Mouse, recognizing his roar, came and gnawed the rope with his teeth and set him free, exclaiming: "You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you, expecting to receive from me any repayment of your favor; now you know that it is possible for even a Mouse to con benefits on a Lion." The Wolf and the Lamb WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf"s right to eat him. The Bat and the Weasels蝙蝠与黄鼠狼 A BAT who fell upon the ground and was caught by a Weasel pleaded to be spared his life. The Weasel refused, saying that he was by nature the enemy of all birds. The Bat assured him that he was not a bird, but a mouse, and thus was set free. Shortly afterwards the Bat again fell to the ground and was caught by another Weasel, whom he likewise entreated not to eat him. The Weasel said that he had a special hostility to mice. The Bat assured him that he was not a mouse, but a bat, and thus a second time escaped. It is wise to turn circumstances to good account. The Ass and the Grasshopper AN ASS having heard some Grasshoppers chirping, was highly enchanted; and, desiring to possess the same charms of melody, demanded what sort of food they lived on to give them such beautiful voices. They replied, "The dew." The Ass resolved that he would live only upon dew, and in a short time died of hunger.

典型香气 典型香气:覆盆子、黑莓、皮革、辛烈香 中文别名 席拉、设拉子、穗乐仙、西拉斯、切拉子、希哈、西哈、席拉思 英文别名 Antournerein,Antournerein noir,Anzher Muskatnyi, Biaune,Blauer Syrah,Bragiola,Candive,Candive noir, Costigliola, Costiola,Damas noir du Puy de Dôme,Damaszener blau, Di Santi, Entourneirein,Entournerein,Entournerin,Ermitage, Fresa grossa,Hignin noir, Marsanne noir, Marzane noir, Neiret di Saluzzo, Neiretta Cunese, Neiretta del Cuneese-Fassanese,Neiretta del Monregalese, Neiretta del rosso,Neiretta dell"Albese, Neiretta di Saluzzo, Neiretto del Cunese,Neiretto di Bene, Neiretto di Carrú,Neiretto di Costigliole,Neiretto di Farigliano, Neiretto di Saluzzo,Nereta piola di Monregalese, Neretta Cuneese, Neretta del Cuneese-Fassanese, Neretta del Monregalese, Neretta di Costigliole, Neretta di Saluzzo, Neretta piola,Neretta piola di Dogliani,Neretto del Beinale,Neretto di Dogliani,Neretto di Saluzzo,Petite Sirah, Petite Sirrah, Petite Syrah, Petite Syras, Plan de la Biaune, Plant de Biaune, Plant de la Bianne, Plant de la Biaune,Schiras, Schiraz, Seraene, Sereine,Serene, Serenne,Serine, Serine noir,Serinne,Sevene, Shiras,Shiraz, Shyrac,Sirac, Sirah, Sirah marsanne noir,Syra, Syrac, Syrac de l"Ermitage, Zizak。

A MISER sold all that he had and bought a lump of gold, which he buried in a hole in the ground by the side of an old wall and went to look at daily. One of his workmen observed his frequent visits to the spot and decided to watch his movements. He soon discovered the secret of the hidden treasure, and digging down, came to the lump of gold, and stole it. The Miser, on his next visit, found the hole empty and began to tear his hair and to make loud lamentations. A neighbor, seeing him overe with grief and learning the cause, said, "Pray do not grieve so; but go and take a stone, and place it in the hole, and fancy that the gold is still lying there. It will do you 3 quite the same service; for when the gold was there, you had it not, as you did not make the slightest use of it." The Wolf and the Lamb WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf"s right to eat him. The Weasel refused, saying that he was by nature the enemy of all birds. The Bat assured him that he 5 was not a bird, but a mouse, and thus was set free.

He then addressed them in these words: "My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks." THE ASS AND THE GRASSHOPPERAn Ass having heard some Grasshoppers chirping, was highly enchanted; and, desiring to possess the same charms of melody, demanded what sort of food they lived on, to give them such beautiful voices. Do not attempt to hide things which cannot be hid. The Wolf and the Lamb :狼与小羊 WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf"s right to eat him.

Tess was eight-year-old girl when she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she knew was that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They were moving to an apartment complex next month because Daddy didn"t have the money for both the doctor"s bills and house payment. Only a very costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was no-one to loan them the money. She heard her Daddy say to her Mother , “Only a miracle can save him now.”Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet. She poured all the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. She counted it three times. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall"s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.Tess waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too entirely talking to another man . To be wait about 8 minutes she twisted her feet to make a noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it! “And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. “I"m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven"t seen in ages, “he said without waiting for a reply to his question.”“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He"s really, really sick... and I want to buy a miracle.” “I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist. “His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”“We don"t sell miracles here, little girl. I"m sorry but I can"t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn"t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”The pharmacist"s brother was a well-dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?” “I don"t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. “I just know he"s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can"t pay for it, so I want to use my money.” “How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago. “One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it"s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.”“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents — the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. “Then he said “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let"s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”That well-dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neurosurgery. The operation was completed without charge and it wasn"t long until Andrew was home again and doing well.Latter, Mom and Dad were were talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. “That surgery,” her Mom whispered, “was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?” Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost... one dollar and eleven cents ... plus the faith of a little child.

A wolf was almost dead with hunger. A house-dog saw him, and asked, "Friend, your irregular life will soon ruin you. "Why don"t you work steadily as I do, and get your food regularly?" "I would have no objection," said the wolf, "if I could only get a place." "I will help you," said the dog. "Come with me to my master, and you shall share my work." So the wolf and the dog went to the town together. On the way the wolf saw that there was no hair around the dog"s neck. He felt quite surprised, and asked him why it was like that? "Oh, it is nothing," said the dog. "Every night my master puts a collar around my neck and chains me up. You will soon get used to it." "Is that the only reason?" said the wolf. "Then good-bye to you, my friend. I would rather be free."

1.The Wolf And The LambA WOLF meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea, which should justify to the Lamb himself his right to eat him. He thus addressed him: "Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf, "You feed in my pasture." "No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." I won"t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations." The Dog And The ShadowA DOG, crossing a bridge over a stream with a piece of flesh in his mouth, saw his own shadow in the water, and took it for that of another Dog, with a piece of meat double his own in size. He therefore let go his own, and fiercely attacked the other Dog, to get his larger piece from him. He thus lost both: that which he grasped at in the water, because it was a shadow; and his own, because the stream swept it away. Aesops Fables3.The Cherry Tree WHEN George Washington was about six years old, he was made the wealthy master of a hatchet of which, like most little boys, he was extremely fond. He went about chopping everything that came his way. One day, as he wandered about the garden amusing himself by hacking his mother"s pea- sticks, he found a beautiful, young English cherry tree, of which his father was most proud. He tried the edge of his hatchet on the trunk of the tree and barked it so that it died. Some time after this, his father discovered what had happened to his favorite tree. He came into the house in great anger, and demanded to know who the mischievous person was who had cut away the bark. Nobody could tell him anything about it. Just then George, with his little hatchet, came into the room. "George," said his father, "do you know who has killed my beautiful little cherry tree yonder in the garden? I would not have taken five guineas for it!" This was a hard question to answer, and for a moment George was staggered by it, but quickly recovering himself he cried: -- "I cannot tell a lie, father, you know I cannot tell a lie! I did cut it with my little hatchet." The anger died out of his father"s face, and taking the boy tenderly in his arms, he said: -- "My son, that you should not be afraid to tell the truth is more to me than a thousand trees! yes, though they were blossomed with silver and had leaves of the purest gold!" -- M.L.Weems

The other friend felt very disturbed and annoyed, he didn"t know what to say. So he thought for a while, and then he said," If it were me," I would have taken the smaller one first." But cleansing his feathers as often as he would, he could not change their color, while through want of food he perished. Change of habit cannot alter Nature. The Goat and the Goatherd A GOATHERD had sought to bring back a stray goat to his flock. He whistled and sounded his horn in vain; the straggler paid no attention to the summons. At last the Goatherd threw a stone, and breaking its horn, begged the Goat not to tell his master. The Goat replied, "Why, you silly fellow, the horn will speak though I be silent." Do not attempt to hide things which cannot be hid. The Miser守财奴 A MISER sold all that he had and bought a lump of gold, which he buried in a hole in the ground by the side of an old wall and went to look at daily. A neighbor, seeing him overcome with grief and learning the cause, said, "Pray do not grieve so; but go and take a stone, and place it in the hole, and fancy that the gold is still lying there. It will do you quite the same service; for when the gold was there, you had it not, as you did not make the slightest use of it." The Wolf and the Lamb WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf"s right to eat him. The Mouse, recognizing his roar, came and gnawed the rope with his teeth and set him free, exclaiming: "You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you, expecting to receive from me any repayment of your favor; now you know that it is possible for even a Mouse to con benefits on a Lion."

1 Long ago in a small, faraway village, there was a place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he hounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and firendly. As he left the House, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often." In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door. When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, "That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again." All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet? 2 The Flood Towards the end of the Age of Bronze the human world became very cruel. Men grew hungry, impolite and ungodly.Neither rightn or law was respected any longer, and the rule of hospitality was forgotten.Dressed up in human form,Zeus visited Arcadia andThessaly, and disliked the deadly wrongs of men .He decidedto clear the earth of them all.Without hesitation he released therainy south wind and called upon the heartless Poseidon to help.Soon the whole world sank in a vast ocean, and the entire humanrace disappeared in the unheard of flood, all but two poor Thessalians . These were an old childless couple, kind and faithful and contented with life. The man was called Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha.Son of Prometheus,Deucalion had been warned beforehand by his father of the coming flood and made himself a hugechest. When the roaring flood came the couple hid themselves init and floated for nine days until it touched land again on Mt Parnassus. The once active world presented a frightening sight. It was all death and ruin.Feeling lonely and unsafe, the old coupleprayed to the gods for help.A sage instructed them to cast the bones of their mother about .The son of the wise Titan, havingguessed the true meaning of the mysterious command, started throwing stones behind him. A miracle occurred. The stonesthat the man cast became men;the stones that the woman threwturned into women.Since then, people appeared on the land again. The Heroic Age had begun. 3 An old cock and a foxIt is evening. An old cock is sitting in a tree.A fox comes to the tree and looks up at the cock."Hello,Mr Cock,I have good news for you,"says the fox."Oh"says thecock,"What good news for me?""All the animals are friends now."says the fox."Fine!"says the cock."I"m very glad to know that."Then he looks up、 "Look!A dog ia coming this way.""What?A dog?"says the fox."Well....well,I must go now.Goodbye,Mr Cock!""Wait,Mr Fox,Don"t you like dogs?"Don"t you like playing with the dog?Dogs are our friends now.""But,...but they may not know the news yet."Then he runs away."I see,I see,"says the cock.He smiles and goes to sleep . 4 Once upon a time, there were two very good friends who lived together in the shade of a rock. Strange as it may seem, one was a lion and one was a tiger. They had met when they were too young to know the difference between lions and tigers. So they did not think their friendship was at all unusual. Besides, it was a peaceful part of the mountains, possibly due to the influence of a gentle forest monk who lived nearby. He was a hermit , one who lives far away from other people. For some unknown reason, one day the two friends got into a silly argument. The tiger said, ;Everyone knows the cold netes when the moon wanes from full to new!; The lion said, ;Where did you hear such nonsense ? Everyone knows the cold netes when the moon waxes from new to full!; The argument got stronger and stronger. Neither could convince the other. They could not reach any conclusion to resolve the growing dispute. They even started calling each other names! Fearing for their friendship, they decided to go ask the learned forest monk, who would surely know about such things. Visiting the peaceful hermit, the lion and tiger bowed respectfully and put their question to him. The friendly monk thought for a while and then gave his answer. ;It can be cold in any phase of the moon, from new to full and back to new again. It is the wind that brings the cold, whether from west or north or east. Therefore, in a way, you are both right! And neither of you is defeated by the other. The most important thing is to live without conflict, to remain united. Unity is best by all means.; The lion and tiger thanked the wise hermit. They were happy to still be friends. 5 Wolf, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea, which should justify to the Lamb himself his right to eat him. He thus addressed him:;Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me.; ;Indeed,; bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, ;I was not then born.; Then said the Wolf, ;You feed in my pasture.; ;No, good sir,; replied the Lamb, ;I have not yet tasted grass.; Again said the Wolf, ;You drink of my well.; ;No,; exclaimed the Lamb, ;I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother′s milk is both food and drink to me.; On which the Wolf seized him, and ate him up, saying, ;Well! I won′t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations.;The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.

I know now that the man who sat with me on the old wooden stairs that hot summer night over thirty-five years ago was not a tall man. But to a five-year-old, he was a giant. We sat side by side, watching the sun go down behind the old Texaco service station across the busy street.

Looking at the cat, the tiger suddenly thought, why should he keep befriending with such a small animal since he had already learnt all the skills from the cat? The evil tiger decided to kill the sleeping cat as a before dinner snack. The tiger stood up and approached the cat viciously. Just as this moment, the cat woke up. Opening up her eyes, the smart cat immediately realized what the tiger was trying to do and swiftly jumped onto a nearby tall tree and climbed to the top branch. The tiger thought he had already learned every skill from the cat .But he never knew that the cat had hidden the tree climbing from him. “I kept the last technique of the tree climbing from you just because I suspected you might be can ungrateful friend.” The cat loudly told the tiger who watched under the tree helplessly.“我没有让你学这最后一个爬树的技巧,因为我怀疑你可能会是个不知感恩的朋友。” A wolf had been badly wounded by dogs.
