作为译者，我来解释一下这句话中文版本的本意吧。首先要把原文摆出来略加分析。"Know the loom. Be the stone." 前句暂时不谈，后边的一句让人联想到的是李小龙的名言Be water my friend，明显是一句古语直译成的英文。所以我觉得这句话的中文句式应该是半古不白的。而关于石头的意象，我能够想到的最直接的就是磐石，所以当下就回忆起了《孔雀东南飞》里的句子“君当作磐石，妾当作蒲苇“，楼上有同学也提到了。这里的借用，或者说照搬，也算是间接地启发了”岩雀“这个称谓的灵感。当然，小麻雀这个绰号在起名的过程里影响的分量更大一些。然后就是前半句的缘由了。因为岩雀的英文名字是stoneweaver，(为什么会变成岩雀的理由，在此略过不表)所以很自然地，她的口白一定会大量地提及“岩石”和“编织”这两种要素。这里的loom本意就是织布机，但是在英文语境里，loom这个意象往往会直接联系到的就是希腊神话里的命运三女神手中的织布机(记性好的同学可能会想起这部电影里那台巨大的命运织布机)，所以在这里，既然是know the loom，就不只是“了解一台织布机”这么表面的意思而已了。而考虑到她与亚索的关系，两人也有一句共同的台词“我将遵循此道，直至终结”，所以我也希望在这句选择语音上能够让两人的呼应感更强一些。有趣的是，亚索的选择语音“死亡如风，常伴吾身”前半句也是一个比喻，那么在岩雀的口中，这句话也该有类似的风格，例如“命运如……”这样的。但是，相比“命运”一词，我觉得“命数”更能表现出织布机上令人目不暇接的感觉，因为这里的命运，指的远不止是个人本身的命运，而是更广大的，人世间诸多命运的交汇景象。最后，“如织”一词，本身表达的意思就是稠密、众多，即是weaver这个概念的继承，也与后一句的磐石有一个不算很严谨的押韵。大概如此。当然，各位看官如何解读，也完全听凭大家喜好。就算作为译者，也不过是一家之言。谢谢喜欢此句的人，希望你们没有错爱。（搬运的原作者）
