不定式
1. 动词不定式的形式:动词不定式有时态和语态的区别和变化,现以study为例,将其形式列表如下：
A. 动词不定式的时态
不定式的时态与谓语动词动作发生的时间比较：
一般式：与谓语动词动作同时发生或在后
进行式： 与谓语动词动作同时发生
完成式： 在谓语动词动作之前发生或动作未完成
用法：
(1) 一般式
I heard him speak Russian.
我听见他说俄语(heard与speak同时发生)。
(2) 进行式
The water seems to be boiling.
水似乎在沸腾。
(3) 完成式
He is said to have studied English for three years.
据说他已经学了三年英语了。(study先于say)注：◆在表示“意图”的谓语动词的过去式后面，用完成不定式来表示本来打算干而实际未干的事情。这类动词有plan, hope, want, intend, mean, expect等，如：
I intended to have read the book again, but I did not find time to (do so).
我本想把这本书重读一遍，但未能抽出时间来。
B. 动词不定式的语态
(1) 一般被动式 表示在谓语行为之后所发生的行为，作定语用时，含有将来的意思，翻译时常加“应”，“要”，“得”等词，如
We come here to be taught, not to teach.
我们到这里来是受教育的，不是当教师的。
(2) 完成被动式 表示在谓语行为之前所发生的行为，通常译成“已经”表示完成式，省略“被”字，常用的结构有be said, be reported, be known, be thought, seems, 如：
This bridge is said to have been built for twenty years.
2. 要求不定式作宾语的动词
(1)在英语中，有一部分动词只能用不定式作宾语。这些动词常见的有：
wish, hope, promise, agree, learn, intend, decide, afford, want, manage, ask, determine, refuse, plan, demand, desire, fail, strive, choose, prefer, prepare, pretend, happen, long（渴望）, resolve（决心）, threaten, undertake（同意）, volunteer.
(2) 在 “had better”, “would rather”, “would sooner”, “rather than”(不顾，而不),
“cannot but”不得不, “do nothing but”后，不定式要省略"to"
注：在含有but的用法中，如果but前有动词do, 则but后直接用不带to的不定式；如果but前没有动词do, 则跟带to的不定式。另外，介词but常和否定词nothing, no等连用，如：
We can do nothing but repeat the experiment.
He desired nothing but to succeed.
(3) 在连接代词或副词 “who”, “whom”, “whose”, “what”, “which”, “when”, “where”, “how” 和 “whether” 后的不定式要加to. 但是在 “why” “why not” 后面的不定式要省略 “to”.
3. 带 “to” 和不带 “to” 的不定式作宾语补足语的动词
(1) 不定式作宾语补足语时，多数要带符号 “to”。这类动词常见的有allow, cause, enable, expect, find, force, lead, permit, require, ask, choose, encourage, get, help, teach, tell等。
(2) 有些动词要求不带to的不定式作宾语补足语。
这类动词有feel, hear, notice, observe, see, watch等感官动词
和have, let, make使役动词后用“名词（或代词宾格）＋不定式”作复合宾语。
要注意这个不定式作宾语补足语时，它的符号 “to” 一定要省去。但是这种句子如果变为被动语态时，其不定式必须带 “to”。
The workers are made to work day and night.

4. 作状语的不定式
(1) 当一个句子中有too或enough这样的词时，我们也常用一个不定式来作它们的程度状语。但要注意，在too...to中后面的不定式在形式上是肯定的，在意义上一般是否定的。如果too前面有not, all, but, never等和含有否定意义的时修饰时，后面的不定式便没有否定意义，如：
I shall be only too glad to help you.
我很高兴帮助你。
(2) 不定式可以用在作表语的形容词（或现在分词，过去分词）后面作状语，说明产生这种情绪的原因或在哪方面存在谓语所表示的情况。能用在这类结构中的形容词有happy, lucky, fortunate, unfortunate, ashamed, glad, sorry, angry, anxious, disappointed, surprised, easy, hard, difficult等。
5. 用主动语态表示被动意义的不定式
(1) 在easy, difficult, hard等后面的不定式。
(2) 在 “too...to...” 这一句型中的不定式主动语态也可以表示被动意义。
二、动名词
1. 动名词的形式：动名词有下列时态和语态形式。（以动词write为例）
2. 动名词的时态的用法
(1) 动名词的一般式表示的动作与限定动词所表示的动作同时发生，或在其后发生，如：
By reviewing the old, you can learn something new.
温故而知新。
(2) 动名词的完成式所表示的动作发生在谓语动词的动作之前，如：
He admitted having done wrong.
他承认做了错事。
3. 动名词两种被动语态的用法
(1) 一般被动形式的动名词表示一个被动动作与谓语动作同时发生，或在其后发生，如：
She was surprised at being discovered.
她因被发现而感到吃惊。
(2) 完成被动形式的动名词表示一个被动动作发生在谓语动作之前，如：
I don"t remember having ever been given such a book.
我记不得曾经给过我这样一本书。
4. 动名词作宾语
(1) 作动词宾语 要求动名词作宾语的动词常见的有：
avoid, consider, admit, delay, enjoy, escape, excuse, finish, mind, practice, appreciate, deny, postpone, quit, risk, fancy, imagine, anticipate, favor, finish, recall, resent, resume
(2) 动名词还可以作某些动词短语的宾语。常见的有：
approve of, count on, depend on, give up, insist on, keep on, succeed in, be used to, persist in, rely on, look forward to, feel like, object to, can"t help, be (become) accustomed to, oppose to, devote...to, put off, refrain from,等。
5. 动名词常用于下列结构中
There is no doing... ( = it is impossible to... )
e.g. There is no telling about what will happen.
It is no good + doing 表示“做某事无意义，没 趣”
It is no use + doing 表示“做某事无意义，没趣”
It is no fun + doing 表示“做某事无意义，没趣”
What is the use of + doing 表示“干某事有何意义”？或“有何用途？”
It is useless + doing（表示做某事无用，无价值）
It is worthwhile + doing（做某事值得，有价值）
What is the point of + doing 表示“干某事有何意义”？或“有何用途？”
6. 既可接不定式又可接动名词作宾语的动词
(1) begin, continue, start, neglect, commence这些动词既可跟不定式作宾语，又可跟动名词作宾语，意义区别不大。
(2) 在like (hate, love, prefer) doing sth. 和like (hate, love, prefer) to do sth. 之间，意义差别较小。接动名词表示习惯，爱好或一般的倾向，而接不定式则着重表示特定的，具体的某次行为。
I like swimming.
I don"t like to swim in this river.
(3) 下列动词后跟不定式或动名词作宾语，意义差别很大。
a. “remember + 动名词” 表示“记起过去做过的一件事”。
“remember + 不定式” 表示“记住要去做某一件事”。
b. “forget + 动名词” 表示“忘记过去做过的一件事”。
“forget + 不定式” 表示“忘记要去做某件事”。
c. “regret + 动名词” 表示“对过去做过的一件事情的后悔”。
“regret + 不定式” 表示“对尚未做，或者正在做的事情的后悔”。
d. “try + 动名词” 表示“试一试某种办法”。
“try + 不定式” 表示“没法去做某件事情”。
e. “mean + 动名词” 表示“意味着，意思是”。
“mean + 不定式” 表示“打算，想要”。
f. “go on + 动名词” 表示“继续干某事”。
“go on + 不定式” 表示“放下某事，转而去另一件事”。
g. “chance + 动名词” 表示“冒险试试”。
“chance + 不定式” 表示“碰巧”。
h. “intend + 动名词” 表示“一般性，抽象的动作”。
“intend + 不定式” 表示“想要”。
7. 下列动词后接动名词，表示被动含义。若用不定式则须用被动语态不定式。
need, require, want在作“需要，要”解释时，有此用法。
注意动词deserve（理应）用法也一样。
分词
1.分词包括现在分词和过去分词。现在分词有一般式和完成式，即doing和having done的形式；有主动语态和被动语态的区别，即being done和having been done. 过去分词只有一般式，没有完成式及主动语态，即只有done的形式。
现在分词（以write为例）
2. 分词作定语，如果分词的动作是它所修饰的那个词发出的，就用现在分词，如果这个词是分词的承受者，就要用过去分词。
(1) 单独的现在分词作定语：一般放在所修饰的名词之前。这时，现在分词相当于一个定语从句，如：
A barking dog seldom bites ( = A dog which is barking seldom bites.
爱叫的狗很小咬人
(2) 分词短语作定语，通常放在它所修饰的名词后面，它的功能相当于定语从句，如：
a. Tell the students playing outside ( = who are playing outside) to come into the classroom.
b. The English spoken by her is the London English. (The English which is spoken...)
(3) 分词短语作非限定性定语：相当于一个非限制定语从句，它和句子棋其他部分用逗号分开，如：
a. The booking, dealing with English grammar, was written by a professor. ( = ...which deals with English grammar, ...)
这本书是讲英语语法的，是一位教授编写的。
b. The book, written in simple English, is suitable for beginners. ( =..., which is written in simple English...,)
本书是用浅显的英语写的，适合初学者用。
3. 分词作宾语补语
要求分词作宾补的动词有：
(1) see, hear, feel, smell, watch, find, notice等表示感觉，心理状态的词，如：
a. I smell something burning.
b. I found my hometown almost completely rebuilt.
(2) have, keep, get, make, need等表示“使役”意义的动词，如：
a. I can"t make myself understood.
b. We can get the clock going again.
c. They have the students cleaning the desk.
4. 分词作状语
分词状语，一般表示时间、原因、条件、方式、伴随情况。分词的逻辑主语应该是句子的主语，如果句子的主语就是分词动作的发出者，二者是主谓关系，就用现在分词；如果句子的主语是分词的承受者，二者是动宾关系，就用过去分词。分词可放在句首或句尾，一般用逗句分开。有时可用从属连词when, while, if, unless等引出。放在句首时，常表示时间，条件，原因，放在句尾时，常表示结果，方式或伴随情况，如：
a. Walking alone the street yesterday, I met my teacher. （时间）
b. While flying over the charnel, the pilot saw that he thought to be a meteorite. （强调动作同时发生，分词前用了while）飞过英吉利海峡时，驾驶员认为他看见了一颗陨星。
c. Studying hard, you will pass the entrance exam. （条件）
d. Being sick, I stayed at home. （原因）
5. 现在分词的被动式、完成式和完成被动式
(1) 现在分词的被动式，即being + 过去分词，表示正在进行的被动行为或表示动作与谓语行为同时发生。在句中作定语、状语、补足语，如：
a. The building being repaired is our library. （定语）
b. Being surrounded, the enemy troops were forced to surrender. （现在分词一般式被动式，用作原因状语）
(2) 现在分词的完成式即having + 过去分词，表示行为发生在谓语动作之前，主要在句中作状语，表示时间或原因，如：
Having finished the test, the engineer put down the results. （状语）
(3) 现在分词的完成被动式，即having + been + 过去分词，表示一个被动行为发生在谓语动作之前，在句中作状语，如：
Having been told that some guests were coming, they got the rooms ready. （状语）
6. have (get) + 宾语 + 过去分词
“叫某人做某事”，如果不需要说出这个人时英语里常用此句型。
7. 分词独立结构
当分词的逻辑主语不同于句子的主语时，分词前就必须有自己的主语，这种逻辑主语用名词或代词的主格来表示。这种结构叫做“分词独立结构”。它在句中可以作状语，表示原因、时间、条件、伴随情况等。如果分词动作与其逻辑主语存在一种主动的主谓关系，用现在分词，而且现在分词的完成式也可用于独立结构中、表示分词动作发生在句子的谓语动作之前；如果分词的动作与其逻辑主语存在一种被动的动宾关系，就用过去分词。如：
(1) 表时间。如：
a. The dark clouds having dispersed, the sun shone again.
b. This done, we went home
(2) 表原因。如：
a. The river having risen in the night, the crossing was impossible.
b. All our savings gone, we started looking for jobs.
(3) 表条件。如：
a. Other things being equal, I would buy the black dress not the white one.
b. Arthur gone, he was allowed to make visits like other acquaintances.
(4) 表示方式或伴随情况。如：
a. Their room was on the third floor, it"s window overlooking the sport ground.
b. She gazed, her hands clasped to her breast.
注：现在分词独立结构之前可用介词with。介词with在此没有什么意义，只是比较上语比较口语化。如：
With Mr. Ade taking the lead, they decided to set up a trading company.
I．动名词和不定式做主语、表语和宾语的比较
Learning texts by heart is helpful to language studies.(表一般情况)
To learn the text by heart is not easy.(表示特定情况)
表语
My job is teaching you English.
My task is to help you with your English.
宾语
动词+不定式（作宾语）大多数表示达到的某种目的或主语尚未完成的动作
如：afford, agree, decide, promise, ask, expect, refuse, offer, want等。
动词+动名词（作表语）该动名词大多数是 前面动词所涉及到的对象
如：admit, avoid, appreciate, consider, finish, mind, miss, practice, risk, enjoy, escaped等。
有的动名词 advise, allow, permit 可接动名词作宾语，但不定式做宾补。
He stopped talking.
He stopped to talk.
I remember posting the letter. (信已寄出)
I remember to post the letter. (未寄)
II．动名词和分词作表语的比较
1.动名词作表语如同名词作表语，只对主语起作用，因为动名词只表示一种抽象化的行为动作。
Seeing is believing.
One of my favorite games is playing golf.
分词作表语与形容词作表语一样，用以说明主语特征，对主语起描述作用。
The question is puzzling.
The window is broken,
III. 不定式，动名词和分词作定语区别
1.不定式:可以做名词后置定语，表示将要发生的动作，与被修饰的名词为动宾关系。
I have many exercises to do.
What I would like best now is a warm room to live in.
2.分词：单词一般放在名词前面 现在分词：表示动作主动，正在进行
分词短语以啊绊在名词后面 过去分词：表示动作被动，已完成
The man sitting on the grass is reciting a poem.
What do you think of the comb produced in our factory?
3.动名词：表示它所修饰的名词的用途。
A sleeping car=a car for sleeping
A sleeping baby=a baby who is sleeping
IV. 不定式和分词作宾补的比较
1.let,make, have, hear, see, notice, feel, watch, listen to, look at, observe, 后接 不带to的不定式。
主：The boss make Miss White type the letter again.
被：Miss White was made to type again.
2)感官动词：hear, see, notice, feel, watch, listen to, look at,
+不定式表示：动作发生了，指的全过程 T must see my children across the street.
+现在分词表示：动作正在进行
I saw the thief stealing her money.
+过去分词表示：动作已经完成且被动 You will see many problems settled in this way.
V. 不定式和分词作状语的比较
不定式：目的，结果
Edith went to the huge department sore to buy a present.
He is well enough to go out again.
分词：时间，原因，伴随和条件
Not knowing that a storm was coming, I went out.(原因)
Compared with John"s, your composition this time is not good.(条件，时间)
The man stood there, reading the wall-newspaper.
VI. 分词的完成式和完成被动式
分词的完成式和完成被动式通常作状语而不是定语。
1.分词完成式： 状语 表示分词的动作发生在谓语动词的动作之前，或两者之间有较长时间间隔。
Having written the composition, I took a short rest.
2.分词完成被动式：时间特征同上，只是它与主语是被动的，有时过去分词可替代。
Having been shown how to type, the students began to practice.
VII. 不定式的进行式，完成式，和被动式
常用于：pretend, believe, prove, say, seem, happen等之后的不定式中
She seems to have forgotten her promise.
The boy pretends to be hard working.
不定式被动形式，表达不定时逻辑主语是表示不定式表示动作的承受者。
This painting is said to have been drawn by a six-year old girl.

to say 这里用来修饰anything，不定式作定语通常是放在被修饰名词或代词后面。
再举一个例子，（例子从百度百科中取得）
Have you anything to be taken to your sister? 你有什么东西要带给你姐姐的么？（东西被带，要用被动，所以是用to be done的形式）
Would you please give me some paper to write on? 你能给我几张纸（让我做记录，做笔记的纸）么？to write on 用来修饰这个paper，表示作用。
过去式作定语——
过去式作定语通常表示被动意思，或者是已完成的。例如，The broken vase was bought by Tim from China. 那个破碎的花瓶是Tim从中国买回来的。（花瓶已经破碎，花瓶被打碎了的）
进行时作定语则通常表示主动意思。例如，The mom is hugging her crying baby.妈妈正抱着她正在哭泣的宝宝。（宝宝哭是主动发生的，也表示正在哭，进行时）
