depend的基本意思是“吊”“悬”“挂”,作“依赖于”“依靠”解时主要指某种要出现的情况、未知的事实及待作出的决定等有关的事物的不确定性。引申可指信心十足或对某人充分相信。depend多与on或者upon连用，且只能接疑问词从句,其他情况都用作普通不及物动词。

　　1.depend on+某人或某物

　　Whether we"ll go camping depends on the weather. 我们是否去野营要看天气。

　　I haven"t got a car, so I have to depend on the buses. 我没有汽车，所以我得乘公共汽车。

　　有时可在某人或某物后用介词 for。如：

　　We depend on the radio for news. 我们靠收音机听新闻。
