李叔同（1880－1941）又名李息霜、李岸、李良，祖籍浙江，客居天津。中国话剧的开拓者之一。在音乐、书法、绘画和戏剧方面，都颇有造诣。从日本留学归后，担任过教师、编辑之职，后剃度为僧，法号弘一。 李叔同祖籍浙江省平湖县，清光绪六年（1880年）农历九月二十日出生在天津，父亲李世珍是名进士，与直隶总督李鸿章同年会试，是挚友。李世珍官任吏部主事，又是天津最大盐商，还兼营银号，家财万贯。李叔同为其三姨太所生。在李叔同5岁那年，他父亲去世了。他是在长兄文熙和母亲教导、关怀下成长的。李叔同7岁就有日诵五百，过目不忘的本领。9岁学篆刻，就在这一年，他看到一个戏班演出，激起他对京剧的兴趣，当李叔同长成青年，他在诗词歌赋、金石书画方面，已经有了广博的知识。
