哈利·波特与混血王子英文影评：As a fan of the books and films, I was truly impressed with how The Half-Blood Prince turned out.The nature of this Harry Potter is supposed to be dark and mysterious, which I admit it is in some places but it seems like they loaded this one with more humor than the rest. Sometimes subtle, other times just outright hilarious, I guarantee you will laugh. That"s not to say there"s no action though. There"s plenty of that to go around. Not to mention the new romances that are a constant source of the humor.The returning cast did wonderfully as well as the newcomers such as Jim Broadbent acting as Professor Slughorn. Broadbent really got into character and I believe he is exactly like Rowling describes in her books. Other newcomers Dave Legeno as Fenrir Greyback and Helen McCrory as Malfoy"s Mom have smaller parts but portray their characters well for how much room they were given. One thing I have to say is I was surprised at Rupert Grint"s level of acting in this one, I don"t know if was just being held back or if he just improved that much but it"s obvious he"s going places.The fans of the book series won"t be disappointed either. They managed to stay very true to the book while keeping it a reasonable length and filling in all the information you need. But I daresay that if you"ve never read the books you may be surprised and saddened at the ending.

Huge screen, excellent sound and an extraordinary Dolby, 3 dimensional image. The whole effect is mind blowing.This is a "Must see" movie, innovative, and extraordinary. I think it will be regarded by most cinema goers as another milestone in the history of the art. The level of realism achieved is remarkable, and although the film is relatively long in real time, it retains it"s excitement and holds the audience"s attention to the end.Performances are good, but this is not the sort of film that dwells on big star value for the actors, although Sigorney Weaver does shine and delivers a very convincing performance, as do the rest of the cast. But as there is so much entertainment and action value on screen the human element does not dominate in the usual way.As Writer/Director, James Cameron deserves high praise for this creation and in my opinion it will break box office records. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

I was fortunate enough to see this movie at a big oldtime movie house during a Hitchcock revival. Ja Leigh, still radiant, spoke before the film and explained how Hitchcock"s genius was in his ability to 1) frighten without gore and 2) leave his indelible mark on the movie without overshadowing his actors (like the great Jean Renoir could never do). "Psycho" is clearly its own phenomenon, despite all the big-name talent involved.

Next to the X-Men movies that came out about the same time and Superman with Christopher Reeve it is definitely one of the better Comic to Movie films put out. The cast is well chosen. McGuire is Spiderman/Peter Parker to me. I don"t think they could have chosen better. Kirsten Dunst makes a decent Mary Jane Watson wasn"t ever fond of her to begin with but it"s pulled off well. Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin is sheer genius. The story is well written and keeps you along for the entire ride coupled with action that"s explosive and thrilling. Definitely fun for all even die hard Spidey f won"t be disappointed! Fun for all!

Cynical as I am, I don"t think much of movies with a romantic theme to them. However, I was curious to see the spectacle that director James Cameron had created. Fortunately for me, Titanic is not only great in terms of action, effects, and visuals, but also provides excellent commentary on the issue of the class struggle. Jack Dawson (Leonardo Di Caprio) is a young boy who wins passage to America aboard the Titanic in a lucky game of poker (upon boarding the ship, Jack tells to his friend that they are "the luckiest sons of bitches in the world"). Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) is travelling to America, to be married to Cal Hockley (Billy Zane), a situation she is not thrilled about. Sparks fly when Dawson manages to talk Rose out of jumping overboard, but tragedy awaits as the unsinkable ship hits and iceberg and begins to flounder. In the movie, this story is presented to the audience as a flashback. The narrator is Rose, 101 years old, with the last name Dawson. She tells the story to a treasure hunter (Bill Paxton), who is looking for the famous (and valuable) Heart of the Ocean, a diamond that was given to Rose by her fiance, Hockley. The recreation of the ship, both the exterior (the rendering for which was done using Digital Alpha processors running Linux) and the interior are impeccable. The dialogue is witty and brilliant. The movie is slow at times, but reaches its climax when the ship begins to sink. The fact that Cameron takes his time in telling the story makes it all the more tense. Cameron could"ve skimped in any of these areas (dialogue, cinematography, effects, authenticity) and still come out with a great movie, but he doesn"t. He sticks to the formula that has worked in other great epic movies, and he pulls it off one hundred percent. The ship was thought to be unsinkable, and so a compromise was made on the number of lifeboats aboard. When the ship did sink, it is the richest that got first priority on the lifeboats. While they waited in half-full lifeboats, they were exposed to the cries of people freezing to their deaths and didn"t do a thing to help them. If a similar tragedy were to happen today, would the result be any different? The acting is excellent by all concerned, but I was most impressed by Zane. The nice thing about a ship sinking is that it is a relatively slow event, and Cameron takes every advantage of it. The depiction of the mighty ship going under is so much larger than life and I feel this is the most magnificent part of the movie. Just for that reason alone, Titanic is a movie not just to be seen, but to be experienced. So make sure you see it on the big screen. It goes to show that the concept of the disaster movie is far from dead.

Chihiro learns she can only stay to help her parents if she finds work at the bathouse, and she must work and find a way to reverse the effects on her parents. 1Forrest Gump is a rare movie that succeeded on all levels. It was a box office smash ranking among the top five highest grossing movies of all time. Even the famous people Forrest comes across meet with disaster, President Kennedy & John Lennon are assassinated, George Wallace is shot and Elvis Presley dies young. There are superb performances all around. Sally Field is feisty as Forrest"s mama, Mykelti Williamson is funny as Bubba, Gary Sinese as Lt. Dan is a perfect rough edged foil to Forrest and Robin Wright as Jenny portrays the confusion that young people of the times felt perfectly. While all those performances are of high quality, Forrest Gump is Tom Hanks" tour de force. He is utterly brilliant as Forrest. He is in virtually every scene of the movie and never once does he fail to astound. He becomes Forrest and makes you care what happens to him. Mr. Hanks deservedly won his second consecutive Best Actor Oscar for the role and cemented himself as the best actor of his generation and one of the best of all time.2I think the merits of Forrest Gump as a movie have been debated enough by now. If you"re reading this, you probably already have a pretty good idea if the movie"s digitally enhanced nostalgia and praise to the virtues of simplicity will appeal to you or not. So I"m just going to talk about what I thought of the DVD. The film enthusiast and the Gump fan will find a fair amount of interesting stuff to peruse, but the bonus feature are unfortunately kind of hit or miss. It"s neat seeing exactly how all of the special effects were done or how sound and makeup were used to enhance mood in particular scenes. The screen test are nice enough, if only because you get to see Tom Hanks playing Forrest before he had worked out the accent. And the Zemeckis/Starket/Carter commentary, while lacking the fun and spontanaity of some I"ve heard, provides enough good tidbits and insights to keep you interested. But these pretty good features run alongside some really poor ones. The Finerman commentary runs out of steam very early and lapses into the producer repeating herself (apparently there are at least TWO seperate scenes where Forrest first becomes a man) and talking about what she thinks the audience is feeling or thinking at that point in the movie. (I don"t need to know what the audience is thinking. I AM the audience.) Add a photo gallery that is half stills from the movie and a pretty bland documentary and you pretty much have the disc in a nutshell. I guess if you really love Gump or absolutely need to know more about the effects, you"ll really enjoy the disc. But the rest of us are left a little unsatisfied and wondering why a movie that supposedly relied more on a great script than visual effects has a disc of extras which touch so little on the former and so much on the latter.3I think that the best movies are those that you "appreciate" or understand after seeing it more than once. However, with "forrest gump", i fell in love with it after the first 15 minutes and knew it would be in my top 10 straight away.It is so unique because of the character Forrest Gump himself, who has a low IQ of only 75. Although he is "mentally challenged", he finds himself in historic and troublesome situations and like that he manages to "forrest gump" his way out of it and end up a hero or role model. but the real beauty in this movie to me was his ability to simplify the complexities of the world we live in and somehow do what some war movies fail to do. show the importance of world peace or what love movies can"t deliver...the importance of love.I love that Forrest doesn"t lose his innocence and purity throughout the movie, or maybe he just can"t but either way, this shows you don"t need to be evil or really intelligent to be recognised or successful. Then again it is just a movie (and a very good one too). So maybe it doesn"t work like that in reality. what that simply means is that the acting and story of this film was incredibly touching on a real level. And in my definition that"s what a good movie should be able to do.

The Chorus (Les Choristes) - Review from Jurgen Fauth“The Chorus” is a movie you have seen many times before. Cute, well-acted and utterly predictable, Christophe Barratier"s feature debut delivers just what the advertising promises: a musician who has given up on fame takes a job as supervisor at a school for hard cases, and when he teaches the boys how to sing, they mellow out and begin to love him dearly. Fond d"Etang, the name of the school run with iron fist by the stern Rachin (Francois Berleand), translates as "Rock Bottom,” but round-faced Clement (Gerard Jugnot) holds on to his good cheer. His cuddly exterior betrays a warm intelligence--apparently he knows that he is in the kind of movie where a little art will certainly tame the teenage beasts, and so he sorts the boys by their voices and starts a choir. All the necessary types are present in the classroom: the cute small kid, the brazen thieves and hormone-addled thugs, and of course the surprisingly talented teacher"s pet (Jean-Baptiste Maunier), from whose adult perspective the story is told.
