对消毒物品的穿透力强，可达到物品深部，可以杀灭大多数病原微生物，包括细菌繁殖体、芽孢、病毒和真菌。气体和液体均有较强杀微生物作用，以气体作用更强，故多用其气体。目前认为，环氧乙烷杀灭微生物是由于它能与微生物的蛋白质，DNA和RNA发生非特异性烷基化作用。以蛋白质为例，蛋白质上的羧基、氨基、硫氢基和羟基被烷基化，使蛋白质的正常的生化反应和新陈代谢受阻，导致微生物死亡。环氧乙烷经水解转化成乙二醇，乙二醇也具有一定杀菌作用。 【适应症】 本品在医学消毒和工业灭菌上用途广泛。常用于食料、纺织物及其他方法不能消毒的对热不稳定的药品和外科器材等进行气体熏蒸消毒，如皮革、棉制品、化纤织物、精密仪器、生物制品、纸张、书籍、文件、某些药物、橡皮制品等。 【用法用量】 因环氧乙烷易爆易燃,在空气中浓度超过3％可引起燃烧爆炸。一般使用CO2或卤烷作稀释剂，防止燃烧爆炸，其制剂是10％的环氧乙烷与90％的CO2或卤烷混合而成。消毒时必须在密闭容器内进行。较常用的有固定容器消毒法，消毒袋消毒法，塑料棚幕消毒法和自动控制消毒箱消毒法。上述各种方法都须保证灭菌的可靠性和可重复性，工作条件对操作人员没有明显的危害性。消毒效果与消毒时间、温度、湿度、污染微生物类型和数量及环氧乙烷在消毒溶器中的分压有关。温度升高增强杀菌作用,对大多数对热不稳定的物品常用温度约55℃。干燥微生物必须给予水分湿润才能杀灭，常用的消毒剂相对浓度40％～60％。消毒时间6～24h. 【不良反应】 环氧乙烷对人及动物的毒性高于四氯化碳和氯仿，和氨气相似。本品对眼、呼吸道有腐蚀性，可导致呕吐、恶心、腹泻、头痛、中枢抑制、呼吸困难、肺水肿等，还可出现肝、肾损害和溶血现象。皮肤过度接触环氧乙烷液体或溶液，产生灼烧感，出现水疱、皮炎等，若经皮吸收可能出现系统反应。环氧乙烷属烷基化剂，有致癌可能。 【注意事项】 环氧乙烷对大多数消毒物品无损害。可破坏食物中的某些成分，如维生素B1、B2、B6和叶酸，消毒后食物中组氨酸、蛋氨酸、赖氨酸等含量降低。链霉素经环氧乙烷灭菌后效力降低35％，但对青霉素无灭活作用。因本品可导致红细胞溶解、补体灭活和凝血酶原破坏，不能用作血液灭菌。 【外观】 室温、常压下为无色气体，比空气重，密度为1.52,具芳香醚味；当温度低于10.8℃时，气体液化。无色透明，能与水以任意比例混溶，并能溶于常用有机溶剂和油脂。

潮汐能发电 潮汐能的主要利用方式是潮汐发电。利用潮汐发电必须具备两个物理条件：首先潮汐的幅度必须大，至少要有几米；第二海岸地形必须能储蓄大量海水，并可进行土建工程。潮汐发电的工作原理与一般水力发电的原理是相近的，即在河口或海湾筑一条大坝，以形成天然水库，水轮发电机组就装在拦海大坝里。潮汐电站可以是单 水库或双水库。从图1可以看出单水库潮汐电站只筑一道堤坝和一个水库。老的单水库潮汐电站是涨潮时使海水进人水库，落潮时利用水库与海面的潮差推动水轮发电机组。它不能连续发电，因此又称为单水库单程式潮汐电站。新的单水库潮汐电站利用水库的特殊设计和水闸的作用既可涨潮时发电，又可在落潮时运行，只是在水库内外水位相同的平潮时才不能发电。这种电站称之为单水库双程式潮汐电站，它大大提高了潮汐能的利用率。 因此为了使潮汐电站能够全日连续发电就必须采用双水库的潮汐电站。图2是双水库潮汐电站的示意图。这种电站建有两个相邻的水库，水轮发电机组放在两个水库之间的隔坝内。一个水库只在涨潮时进水（高水位库），一个水库（低水位库）只在落潮时泄水；两个水库之间始终保持有水位差，因此可以全日发电。 由于海水潮汐的水位差远低于一般水电站的水位差，所以潮汐电站应采用低水头、大流量的水轮发电机组。目前全贯流式水 轮发电机组由于其外形小、重量轻、管道短、效率高已为各潮汐电站广泛采用。 据估计到2O00年全世界潮汐发电站的年发电量可达到3X1010～6X1010kw·h。潮汐电站除了发电外还有着广阔的综合利用前景，其中最大的效益是围海造田、增加土地，此外还可进行海产养殖及发展旅游。正由于以上原因潮汐发电已倍受世界各国重视。
