(参考资料:Wikipedia、Prejudice: Its Forms and Causes from Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas)希望以上信息对你有帮助,祝你一切顺利 :-)

The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn"t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen"s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book. The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

With amazement did she first understand that he believed any apology to be in his power...

What is there so very laudable in a precipitance 这样贸然行动有什么值得赞扬的which must leave very necessary bussiness undone, and can be of no real advantage to youself or any one else? What is there so very laudable 可能是奥斯汀时期一种典型的语言风格,就是把so(多么)和very(非常)放在一块儿用。 :It"s so very kind of him. 肯定句语序下是:there is (something) so laudable...

It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife. And when such a man moves into a neighbourhood, even if nothing is known about his feelings or opinions, this truth is so clear to the surrounding families, that they think of him immediately as the future husband of one or other of their daughters. When Mr Bennet was young, Mr Bennet had made the mistake of falling in love with a pretty but foolish young woman.During the long years of their marriage, he had had time to regret his mistake. He soon realized that his wife had little intelligence or common sense, and was only interested in talking, shopping and finding husbands for her daughters. His experience had made him rather bitter, and he could not stop himself mocking his wife, who never understood her husband"s sense of humour. So when, a week later, Mrs Bennet discovered that her hus- band had in fact visited Mr Bingley at Netherfield, she was surprised and very pleased. But she and her daughters tried in vain to persuade Mr Bennet to describe the wealthy stranger, and in the end they had to rely on another neighbour"s description. ‘He sounds wonderful,Mama!"cried Lydia, the youngest and noisiest of the sisters.‘Charlotte Lucas"s father has been to see him, and says he"s quite young, very handsome, and ex- tremely charming! And even better,he loves dancing!Every- body knows that means he"s very likely to fall in love!"“听说他棒极了,妈妈!” 大家都知道,喜欢跳舞就意味着他很可能堕入爱河!”As politeness required, Mr Bingley came to visit Mr Bennet a few days later. He was not, however, fortunate enough to see the Bennet girls, who were hiding behind the curtains in an up- stairs room in order to catch sight of the handsome stranger.Mrs Bennet planned to invite him to dinner, but in fact they met him at another social event first. The Bennets lived in the small Hertfordshire village of Longbourn, and public dances were regularly held in the nearest town, Meryton. The girls were greatly looking forward to this particular dance, because they had heard that Mr Bingley would be attending, with a group of friends from London. On the night of the dance, all eyes were on Mr Bingley as he entered the room. He had brought his two sisters, with the husband of the elder, Mr Hurst, and another young man,Mr- Darcy.Mr Bingley was indeed good-looking and gentleman- like, and his sisters were fine, fashionable women. However, ev- erybody was soon talking about Mr Darcy, a tall, handsome man, who,it was said, had an income of ten thousand pounds a year. The ladies in the room gazed at him in admiration for about half the evening, until they became aware of his constant frown and his unwillingness to talk or dance. Then there was general agreement that he was proud and disagreeable, and considered himself superior to country people.Mr Bingley, on the other hand, made himself popular with the ladles by danc- ing every dance and talking to everybody. While observing Mr Bingley"s interest in Jane, however,Elizabeth had not noticed Mr Darcy"s interest in herself.Al- though at first he had not even considered her pretty, he now began to realize what a beautiful expression her dark eyes gave to her intelligent face, and what an attractive figure she had.‘Of course, she is only an unfashionable village girl,"he told himself, but her conversation is often quite amusing."When- ever they met, he did not speak to her, but stood near her, lis- tening to her and watching her closely, conscious of a wish to know her better. That evening Elizabeth appeared again in the sitting-room.She could not avoid noticing how frequently Mr Darcy"s eyes were fixed on her, but as she felt sure that so great a man could not possibly admire her,she assumed that when he looked at her, he was criticizing her in some way. This thought did not cause her any pain, as she liked him too little to care for his ap- proval. In the conversations she had with him, she spoke in her usual slightly mocking manner, rather expecting to offend him,but was surprised by the quiet politeness of his replies.Darcy had never before been so charmed by any woman. He really be- lieved that if she did not have such vulgar relations, he might be in danger of falling in love with her. Miss Bingley saw or suspected enough to be jealous, and her great anxiety for the recovery of her dear friend Jane was increased by her wish to get rid of Elizabeth. Fortunately perhaps, for almost everyone at Netherfield,Elizabeth and her sister, who was now quite recovered, were returning home the next day. Only Mr Bingley showed real sorrow at this, and was concerned that Jane might not be fit enough to travel. Mr Darcy was quite relieved, and determined that no sign of admiration for Elizabeth should escape him now. Miss Bingley"s politeness to Elizabeth, as well as her af- fection for Jane, increased rapidly as the moment of departure approached, and she was able to say goodbye to them with many warm expressions of friendliness and a promise to visit them very soon. Mr Bennet was glad to welcome his eldest daughters home again,as he had felt their absence from the family circle, but Mrs Bennet, who had hoped they would stay much longer, was quite disappointed to see them come back in such a short time.

Summery of the novel It is universally acknowledged that the eternal theme of Jane Austen"s novels is the choice people make for marriage partners, so is in Pride and Prejudice. Mrs. Bonnet had no other wish if her five daughters could get married as soon as possible with someone wealthy. At a dancing ball, it is obvious that Mr. Bingley could not help falling in love at the first sight with Miss Jane because of her stunning beauty. Mrs. Benne was so excited that she could not hold her manner and declared publicly she would have a daughter married soon, which frightened Mr. Bingley away. Mr. Collins, a distance nephew of Mr. Bennet, came to ask a marriage to one of his cousins before Mrs. Bennet was able to get clear why Mr. Bingley left suddenly. After receiving the hint from Mrs. Bennet that Jane already had an admirer, Mr. Collins turned to Elizabeth without wasting a minute and to Miss Charlotte Lucas two days later after refused by Elizabeth. It was difficult for Mrs. Bennet to recover herself as a result of the“deadly stupid” decision made by Elizabeth until she got the news that Lydia finally married Mr. Wickham, though the marriage was built on the basis of ten thousand pounds. Mr. Darcy offered the money and did everything departing from his will just because he loved Elizabeth so much. He could not hide his feelings any more and showed his affection to Elizabeth at last, who, because of a series of misunderstandings towards him, rejected him without hesitation. This plot is the climax of the novel as the prejudice of Elizabeth to Mr. Darcy was exposed and removed since then. And the combination of the two young couples, Jane and Bingley, Elizabeth and Darcy came at last. 经典太词: "I hope Mr. Bingley will like it, Lizzy. " "We are not in a way to know WHAT Mr. Bingley likes, " said her mother resentfully, "since we are not to visit. " "But you forget, mamma, " said Elizabeth, "that we shall meet him at the assemblies, and that Mrs. Long promised to introduce him. " "I do not believe Mrs. Long will do any such thing. She has two nieces of her own. She is a selfish, hypocritical woman, and I have no opinion of her. " "No more have I, " said Mr. Bennet; "and I am glad to find that you do not depend on her serving you. " Mrs. Bennet deigned not to make any reply, but, unable to contain herself, began scolding one of her daughters. "Don"t keep coughing so, Kitty, for Heaven"s sake! Have a little compassion on my nerves. You tear them to pieces. " "Kitty has no discretion in her coughs, " said her father; "she times them ill. " "I do not cough for my own amusement, " replied Kitty fretfully. "When is your next ball to be, Lizzy?" "To-morrow fortnight. " "Aye, so it is, " cried her mother, "and Mrs. Long does not come back till the day before; so it will be impossible for her to introduce him, for she will not know him herself. " "Then, my dear, you may have the advantage of your friend, and introduce Mr. Bingley to HER. " "Impossible, Mr. Bennet, impossible, when I am not acquainted with him myself; how can you be so teasing?" "I honour your circumspection. A fortnight"s acquaintance is certainly very little. One cannot know what a man really is by the end of a fortnight. But if WE do not venture somebody else will; and after all, Mrs. Long and her daughters must stand their chance; and, therefore, as she will think it an act of kindness, if you decline the office, I will take it on myself. " The girls stared at their father. Mrs. Bennet said only, "Nonsense, nonsense!" "What can be the meaning of that emphatic exclamation?" cried he. "Do you consider the forms of introduction, and the stress that is laid on them, as nonsense? I cannot quite agree with you THERE. What say you, Mary? For you are a young lady of deep reflection, I know, and read great books and make extracts. " Mary wished to say something sensible, but knew not how. "While Mary is adjusting her ideas, " he continued, "let us return to Mr. Bingley. " "I am sick of Mr. Bingley, " cried his wife. "I am sorry to hear THAT; but why did not you tell me that before? If I had known as much this morning I certainly would not have called on him. It is very unlucky; but as I have actually paid the visit, we cannot escape the acquaintance now.

Miss Elizabeth. I have struggled in vain and I can bear it no longer. These past of months have been a torment. I came to Rosings with the single object of seeing you. I had to see you. Most ardently. Please do me the honour of accepting my hand. Sir, I appreciate the struggle you have been through and I am sorry to have caused you pain. Believe me, it was unconsciously done.达西:Is this you reply? Are you laughing at me?伊丽莎白:No达西:Are you rejecting me? I"m sure that the feelings which, as you"ve told me, have hindered you regard will help you in overcoming it.达西:Might I ask why, with so little endeavour at civility, I am thus repulsed? And I might as well enquire why, with so evident a design of insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your betterjudgement!达西:No, believe me伊丽莎白:If I was uncivil, then that is some excuse! But I have other reasons, you know I have.达西:What reasons? Do you think that anything might tempt me to accept the man who has ruined, perhaps forever, the happiness of a most beloved sister? Do you deny it, Mr.Darcy? That you separate a young couple who loved each other, exposing your friend to the centre of the world for caprice and my sister to its derision for disappointed hopes. And involving them both both in misery of the acutest kind?达西:I do not deny it. How could you do it?达西:Because I believed you sister indifferent to him. I watched them most carefully and realise his attachment was deeper than hers. That"s because she"s shy.达西:Bingley, too,is modest and was persuaded she didn"t feel strongly for him.伊丽莎白:Because you suggested it.达西:I did it for his own good. My sister hardly shows her true feelings to me! I suppose you suspect that his fortune had some bearing……达西:No! I wouldn"t do you sister the dishonour! Though it was suggested……伊丽莎白:What was?达西:It was made perfectly clear that an advantageous marriage…… Did my sister give that impression?达西:No! No! There was, however, I have to admit, the matter of your family. Our want of connection? Mr.Bingley didn"t seem to vex himself about that.达西:No, it was more than that. It was the lack of the propriety shown by you mother, your three younger sisters, even, on occasion, your father. Forgive me. You and your sister must exclude from this. And what about Mr.Wickham?达西:Mr.Wickham? What excuse can you give for your behavior towards him?达西:You take an eager interest in that gentleman"s concerns. He told me of his misfortunes.达西:Oh,yes, his misfortunes have been very great indeed. You ruin his chances, and yet you treat him with sarcasm?达西:So this is you opinion of me. Thank you for explaining so fully. Perhaps these offences might have been overlooked had not your pride been hurt by my honesty…… 达西:……in admitting scruples about our relationship. Could you expect me to rejoice in the inferiorityof your circumstances? And those are the words of a gentleman. From the first moment I met you, your arrogance and conceit, your selfish disdain for the feelings of others made me realise that you were the last man in the world could ever be prevailed upon to marry.达西:Forgive me,madam, for taking up so much your time.

Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesnu2019t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austenu2019s favourite topic. I couldnu2019t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his fatheru2019s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century. In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets donu2019t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married. In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some peopleu2019s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their childrenu2019s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence oneu2019s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We canu2019t help thinking: can money determine everything? Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time. Iu2019m forced to read this novel at the beginning, but I canu2019t wait to finish it subsequently. "It is a truth universally acknowledges that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife." This is just as Leo Tolstoyu2019s famous starting in 《Anna Karenina》: "All happy families resemble one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way". To begin with such a design, Jane Austen has her deep meaning. Marriage and money are inseparable. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. The author does not deny this. So she uses typical Bennets to prove this truth. The story takes place in the class-conscious England of the late 18th century. The five Bennet sisters--including strong-willed Elizabeth and young Lydia--have all been raised by their mother with one purpose in life: finding a wealthy husband. So when a wealthy bachelor shows up in their lives, the whole family is turned upside-down. But when Elizabeth meets up with the handsome but snobbish Mr. Darcy, the battle of the sexes is joined. As we all know, Austen, in this novel, through the five Bennet daughtersu2019 attitude towards love and marriage, shows the relationship between mental feelings, such as love, and material possessions , which also reflects the author""s attitude: Marry for the sake of property, money or status is wrong; marry but do not take into account the above factors is foolish. As a result, she not only opposed to marry for the purpose of money, but also opposed to treat marriage as child""s play. She stressed the importance of an ideal marriage. But in modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some peopleu2019s mind. Then letu2019s come to talk about the meaningful topic of this love story: 《Pride And Prejudice》 Pride and prejudice are our common problems and weaknesses. In fact, everyone is very easy to be driven by his own subjective impression and thus easy to make incorrect comments on others, and then led to misunderstand between people. Oneu2019s first impression can affect a lot of things for sure, but it doesnu2019t mean it couldnu2019t be changed. The deeper you get to understand someone, the more objective points you will have on him or her. The changing of Elizabethu2019s point of view towards Darcy just proved this perfectly: no pride, no prejudice, and these two married just because they love each other, just because they need each other instead of need each otheru2019s possessions. Austen is smart, because Elizabeth got beauty and intelligence while Darcy is handsome and rich. I even wonder if such a perfect marriage could take place in modern society.

Then man treat great event in one"s life with punishing, Demonstrate different attitudes to the love question of the marriage of young girl of the family origin of middle class of villages and towns, Thus reflected authors oneself"s marriage view: It is wrong to get married for the property, money and position; Get married and does not consider that above-mentioned factors are unwise too . So, she objects to getting married for money , objecting to regarding the marriage as a trifling matter . She emphasizes the importance of the ideal marriage , and regard men and women"s emotion as the foundation stone which concludes the ideal marriage . The woman protagonist in the book Elizabeth comes from the little landlord"s family, reaches the west to have deep love for for the rich and powerful people sons and younger brothers. Reach the disparity of ignoring family status and wealth of the west, propose to her, but is refused. Elizabeth"s misunderstanding and prejudice to him are a reason, but a main one is the arrogance that she dislikes him. Reach the thes of the west in fact status" the reflections of difference, exist this kind arrogant, Not having common thoughts and feelings between he (www.eduche.com)and Elizabeth, the marriage that can not have lofty ideals . Elizabeth watches conducting oneself in society and a series of behavior of reaching the west personally afterwards, See he change the proud conceited expressions of passing by, dispel misunderstanding and prejudice to him, Thus concluded the happy marriage with him. Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”。 The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man. I couldn"t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father"s possessions. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don"t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married. In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people"s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children"s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one"s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can"t help thinking: can money determine everything? Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time. AS is known to all, Pride and Prejudice which was written by a famous English female writer Jane Austen is still a classic in English literature nowadays. Jane Austen who was born and lived her whole life in England wrote six books in her life time. Her novels all described the lifestyle and social communications of families in the countries of England as what she is familiar with. The book Pride and Prejudice is the typical one that fully expressed Jane"s view on marriage and emphasized that the benefit on economic exerts a great influence on marriage. The characters in the novel all had their own opinions on marriage. Mrs. Bennet, for instance, has only one aim-that of finding a good match for each of her five daughters. As for Elizabeth, who is the second daughter in the Bennet family said that only deep love would persuade her to marry which was why she would probably end up an old maid. Lydia and Charlotte, however, were two extremes. The former just married for sex, while the latter married for a comfortable home and protection. There are just so many different characters that were all formed under the society of England in 18"s century. Then, there was filled with unfairness between men and women. Just as what Jane Austen said,”It is a truth universally knowledge, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. ”

速度的单位是m/s和km/h。
