OK,至今成果基本上是这样,又忘记的再补吧。其实我不想再看美剧了,好浪费时间,但是现在像是吃饭喝水一样的习惯,不好看也这么看着,实在是,无语。我的推荐(排名):《Lost迷失》、《Grey"s Anatomy实习医生格蕾》、《CSI:LV犯罪现场调查:拉斯维加斯》、《Friends老友记》、《Prison Break越狱》、《Moonlight血色月光》、《Heroes英雄第一季》、《Shark律政狂鲨第一季》hellip;hellip;

1. I don"t want to be the third wheel.

I don"t want to be the third arm.

2. He is dating another girl on the side.

I have my feet in two boats He is dating another girl on the side. He is dating another girl behind her back.

I"d like salad with dressing on the side. Would you like a baked potato on the side?

3. I am the one-woman kinda man.

还有一种用法叫 We are exclusive.

4. Those boys like to hit on me all the time.

Hit somebody 是说你打某人的意思, 但是 hit on somebody 就不一样了, hit on somebody 是当作搭讪来解释. Are you hitting on me?

5. That"s the long distance relationship.

I really appreciate our relationship.

We live far away from each other. We have a long distance relationship. It"s so hard for me.

6. You should have chivalry.

7. I saw you smooching that girl just outside my window.

8. I"m all over you.

I have a crush on you.

Hey, look, the guy is dancing all over the girl.

9. I"m over you.

I"m all over you 是完全不一样的。

10. Are you trying to seduce me?

Are you trying to seduce me?

They only get better with age."

To walk on air 英文里也有类似的说法,就是to walk on air。 Susan has been walking on air ever since she got an official letter that she"s been accepted as a graduate student at the University of California. 2. To walk the plank 被解雇 Plank就是很厚的木板。 When you take over the store, think twice about making the manager walk the plank. It may not be easy to find another one as honest and efficient as he is. 3. To walk the floor My roommate has been walking the floor for weeks trying to decide whether to ask his girl friend to marry him. He loves her, but he"s not sure he"s ready to settle down and have a family. 4. To walk down the aisle 因此,to walk down the aisle就是“结婚”的意思。 Yesterday, John walked down the aisle to get married to his girlfriend. 5. green with envy, green eyed Wait till you see my new skirt. You"re going to be absolutely green with envy. We were all green with envy when we learned that Jack had gotten a date with the most beautiful girl in our class. 在希腊神话中,天王Zeus(宙斯)有7位妻子,第七位是他的姐姐Hera(赫拉)。 Mr. White has a green thumb. His garden is always beautiful. 7.give the green light 开绿灯 Give the green light 开绿灯,这个中英文里的意思是一样的,同意的意思。 比如:They"ve just been given the green light to build two new supermarkets in this range. 海量 have a hollow leg Want to drink him under the table? Wellu2026you can never do. He got a hollow leg, you know. 2. 略胜一筹 be a notch above In oil painting, Mr.Zhang paints better than Mr.Li.But when it comes to water colors,Mr.Liu appears to be a notch above Mr.Zhang. 3. 有头脑 be a brain He"s a brain, who wouldn"t be fooled into believing your babbling. 4. 很能干 to have a lot on the ball I know Li Ming has a lot on the ball. But I"m not sure if he likes to work here. 5. 有名无实 a poor apology The man you"ve just mentioned is but a poor apology for a writer. His writings are tedious. 6. 绞尽脑汁 to rack one"s brain He had racked his brain, but hadn"t been able to work out the answer to the problem. 7. 没骨气 have no guts. She really has no guts. 8. 真了不起 really something He overwhelmed so many of his opponents alone. He"s really something. 9. 昙花一现 a flash in the pan That singer was only a flash in the pan. My boss fired me, and my wife asked for a divorce. A: Does the chairman realize that our pany"s business is going downhill? B:I don"t think so. I"m afraid he is still living in a fool"s paradise. chick(美眉)如:you are chick。 Give me five! Get out of here。 Crush on somebody 着迷! Hey dude look at that girl。 Look at that chick at the door。 Man,is that guy pissed of ?(哎呀,那家伙真的生气了) 4。 Hey,Give me five(嗨,好啊!) Give me five!(嗨,老兄,好啊!) 例子:He"s gonna freak(他快要发脾气了) 6。 Get out of here(别开玩笑了,别骗人了) 大家很容易联想到“滚开”的意思,其实,现在很多时候都用在“别开玩笑了,别骗人了”的意思里,在美国片子中常可以听到。 例子:(Man:)You look very beautiful(你很漂亮)(Girlue6c6)Get out of here。 Yuck, what is this stuff? It looks gross。 Hello, anybody home,we"ll be late!(有没有搞错, 我们要迟到了) 9。 She"s really green, she looks nervous。 She thinks she has a crush on John。 Repetition is the mother of skills(重复是技能之母)"。

一般有两种形式,分别是:be busy doing sth;忙于做某事;be busy with sth;忙于某事;busy后面如果+动词,则要用动名词形式,即be busy doing sth. 若是直接加名词,则用介词with连接,即be busy with sth. busy的用法如下: adj. 另外, active和diligent后多接in,而busy后多接with。 He is busy in preparing for the examination. a busy man 忙人 a busybody 爱管闲事的人

We met next day as he had arranged, and inspected the rooms at No.221B, Baker Street, of which he had spoken at our meeting. They consisted of a couple of comfortable bedrooms and a single large airy sitting-room, cheerfully furnished , and illuminated by two broad windows. So desirable in every way were the apartments, and so moderate did the terms seem when divided between us, that the bargain was concluded upon the spot, and we at once entered into possession. That very evening I moved my things round from the hotel, and on the following morning Sherlock Holmes followed me with several boxes and portmanteaus. For a day or two we were busily employed in unpacking and laying out our property to the best advantage. That done, we gradually began to settle down and to accommodate ourselves to our new surroundings. Holmes was certainly not a difficult man to live with. He was quiet in his ways, and his habits were regular. It was rare for him to be up after ten at night, and he had invariably breakfasted and gone out before I rose in the morning. Sometimes he spent his day at the chemical laboratory, sometimes in the dissecting-rooms, 有时,他把整天的时间都消磨在化验室里,或是在解剖室里; and occasionally in long walks, which appeared to take him into the lowest portions of the city. Nothing could exceed his energy when the working fit was upon him; but now and again a reaction would seize him, 在他高兴工作的时候,绝没有人能比得上他那份旺盛的精力;可是常常也会上来一股相反的劲头, and for days on end he would lie upon the sofa in the sitting-room, hardly uttering a word or moving a muscle from morning to night. On these occasions I have noticed such a dreamy, vacant expression in his eyes, that I might have suspected him of being addicted to the use of some narcotic, 若不是他平日生活严谨而有节制, had not the temperance and cleanliness of his whole life forbidden such a notion. As the weeks went by, my interest in him and my curiosity as to his aims in life gradually deepened and increased. His very person and appearance were such as to strike the attention of the most casual observer. In height he was rather over six feet, and so excessively lean that he seemed to be considerably taller. His eyes were sharp and piercing, save during those intervals of torpor to which I have alluded; 目光锐利(他茫然若失的时候除外); and his thin, hawk-like nose gave his whole expression an air of alertness and decision. His chin, too, had the prominence and squareness which mark the man of determination. His hands were invariably blotted with ink and stained with chemicals, 他的两手虽然斑斑点点沾满了墨水和化学药品, yet he was possessed of extraordinary delicacy of touch, 但是动作却异乎寻常地熟练、仔细。 as I frequently had occasion to observe when I watched him manipulating his fragile philosophical instruments. The reader may set me down as a hopeless busybody, when I confess how much this man stimulated my curiosity, 如果我承认福尔摩斯这个人大大地引起了我的好奇心, and how often I endeavoured to break through the reticence which he showed on all that concerned himself. Before pronouncing judgment, however, be it remembered how objectless was my life, and how little there was to engage my attention.

No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won"t make you cry. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can"t have them. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. Don"t waste your time on a man/woman, who isn"t willing to waste their time on you. Just because someone doesn"t love you the way you want them to, doesn"t mean they don"t love you with all they have. Don"t try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful. Don"t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. Wise man have their mouths in their hearts, fools have their hearts in their mouths. Work makes the workman. You cannot burn the candle at both ends. You cannot eat your cake and have it. You can take a hors孩定粉剐莠溉疯税弗粳e to the water but you cannot make him drink. You may know by a handful the whole sack. You never know what you can till you try. 参考资料:/en/ez/2/2471.htm。 3. A dog in the manger The dog who would not allow a horse or ox to eat the hay in a manger, even though he himself did not want it. A persom who selfishly withholds from others something that he himself can not use or does not need. Don"t be such a dog in the manger. Lend your bicycle to him since you will not go out this afternoon. Tom has got a ticket to the football match, but his father ordered him to write the composition at home. He has ants in his pants. The actress was aware that she had committed a double bagger when she completely forgot her lines, and then her wig fell off. 后来,人们便用 apple of Sodom 来表达这样的含义:something that is not worth its value,汉语中的『金玉其外,败絮其中』、『徒有其表(的人或物)』等表达的就是这一含义。 Nowadays few people believe in advertisements, which are almost regarded as a lure for people to buy some apple of Somdom. TO TEACH A FISH HOW TO SWIM 因此,to teach a fish how to swim 的含义就是〖班门弄斧〗,〖在孔夫子面前卖文章〗。英语中类似的表达还有:teach a dog to chase rabbits; show the President where the White House is; teach the Pope how to pray; use Chinese maxims in front of Confucius。 BLUE MOON 在英语语言中,与blue moon相关的短语还有once in a blue moon(千载难逢地),cry/ask for the moon(异想天开,想做做不到的事)等。blue 。 4. 成语类 pull one"s leg 开玩笑(不是“拉后腿”) in one"s birthday suit 赤身裸体(不是“穿着生日礼服”) eat one"s words 收回前言(不是“食言”) an apple of love 西红柿(不是“爱情之果”) handwriting on the wall 不祥之兆(不是“大字报”) bring down the house 博得全场喝彩(不是“推倒房子”) have a fit 勃然大怒(不是“试穿”) make one"s hair stand on end 令人毛骨悚然—恐惧(不是“令人发指——气愤”) be taken in 受骗,上当(不是“被接纳”) think a great deal of oneself 高看或看重自己(不是“为自己想得很多”) pull up one"s socks 鼓起勇气(不是“提上袜子”) have the heart to do (用于否定句)忍心做…… 当心!(不是“向外看”) What a shame! 是吗!(不是“你别说”) You can say that again! (不是“我从未睡过好觉”) You can"t be too careful in your work。 (不是“你 工作不能太仔细”) It has been 4 years since I smoked。 (不是“我抽烟4 年了”) All his friends did not turn up。 (不是“他的朋友全没到”) People will be long forgetting her。 (不是“人们会永远忘记她”) He was only too pleased to let them go。 (不是“他太高兴了,不愿让他们走”) It can"t be less interesting。 1.If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame the wind revealing them to the trees. 2.I love three things in the world: the sun, the moon and you.

Phone (声音): telephone (电话) headphone (套在头上的耳机)earphone (耳机)microphone (麦克风)。 例如:记忆单词mare(母马、母驴),从读音角度出发,我们可以联想到同音词mayor(市长),从词意角度出发,我们可以联想到donkey(驴),mule(骡子)等词。从词形角度出发,我们可以联想到一连串词汇:care(关心)、 dare(敢)、fare(费用)、hare(野兔)、share(分享)、spare(空闲的)、prepare(准备)、square(广场)、stare(凝视)等。 文具类:penci1,ruler,rvbber ,pen,paper,book,exercise-book,ink,ball pen ,writing bush,dictionary等。4、趣味记忆法猫和老鼠-有一个rat(老鼠) 非常地fat(肥胖) 跳进了vat(缸) 偷吃了salt(盐) 变成了bat(蝙蝠) 气坏了cat(猫) 咬破了hat(帽子) 当成了mat(垫子) 。梁山好汉-决不再brood(沉思) *投身于wood(树林)头戴着hood(头巾) *大块肉food(食物)大碗酒good(好的)天天好mood(心情) * 豪情似flood(洪水))。 把 sing 和singer 进行比较,把breath 和breathe 进行比较,这是音形比较;把doctor 和student 进行比较,这是对应比较;把often 和seldom 进行比较,这是反义比较;把job与work 进行比较,这是同义比较;把get tired,get off,get along with,get the habit of进行比较,这是词汇搭配比较。

再如力大如牛(译成:as strong as horse)、a busybody并非大忙人而是“好管闲事的人”、black tea并非黑茶而是红茶、黄色书刊不是yellow book而是dirty book……;因而如果根据字面直译就会闹出大笑话。 英国人的排列方式是名(Given name)+姓(Family name)而中国人的却与之相反是姓(Family name)+名(Given name)。 如:E-mail(电子邮件) teletext(图文电视)homepage(主页) mobile telephone(移动电话)…… 或是Well,just so so. Hello, this is May speaking. Is that Mary? It"s none of your business.(这不关你的事。)

Cease this detestable boohooing instantly97Or else seek shelter at some other place of worship.98I"ve a right to be here if I like, same as you.99One who utters such disgusting and depressing noise100Has no right to be anywhere, no right to live.

Pedestrians running for shelter into the market and under the portico of St. Paul"s Church, where there are already several people, among them a lady and her daughter in evening dress. They are all peering out gloomily at the rain, except one man with his back turned to the rest, who seems wholly preoccupied with a notebook in which he is writing busily. The church clock strikes the first quarter.THE DAUGHTER[in the space between the central pillars, close to the one on her left] I"m getting chilled to the bone. What can Freddy be doing all this time? Hes been gone twenty minutes.THE MOTHER[On her daughter"s right] Not so long. That aint proper writing. I cant read that.THE NOTE TAKERI can. [Reads, reproducing her pronunciation exactly] "Cheer ap, Keptin; n" baw ya flahr orf a pore gel."THE FLOWER GIRL[much distressed] It"s because I called him Captain. I meant no harm.
