Surprisingly, KPZ universality was recently conjectured to also describe spin transport in the one-dimensional quantum Heisenberg model. We tested this conjecture by experimentally probing transport in a cold-atom quantum simulator via the relaxation of domain walls in spin chains of up to 50 spins. We found that domain-wall relaxation is indeed governed by the KPZ dynamical exponent z = 3/2 and that the occurrence of KPZ scaling requires both integrability and a nonabelian SU(2) symmetry. Finally, we leveraged the single-spin–sensitive detection enabled by the quantum gas microscope to measure an observable based on spin-transport statistics. A fascinating prediction is that classical hydrodynamics emerges universally in the evolution of any interacting quantum system. We experimentally probed the quantum dynamics of 51 inpidually controlled ions, realizing a long-range interacting spin chain. By measuring space-time–resolved correlation functions in an infinite temperature state, we observed a whole family of hydrodynamic universality classes, ranging from normal diffusion to anomalous superdiffusion, that are described by Lévy flights. We extracted the transport coefficients of the hydrodynamic theory, reflecting the microscopic properties of the system. Polytetrafluoroethylene has a dense fluorine surface, leading to its strong water repellence. We report a series of fluorous oligoamide nanorings with interior diameters ranging from 0.9 to 1.9 nanometers. These nanorings undergo supramolecular polymerization in phospholipid bilayer membranes to form fluorous nanochannels, the interior walls of which are densely covered with fluorine atoms. The nanochannel with the smallest diameter exhibits a water permeation flux that is two orders of magnitude greater than those of aquaporins and carbon nanotubes. The proposed nanochannel exhibits negligible chloride ion (C l- ) permeability caused by a powerful electrostatic barrier provided by the electrostatically negative fluorous interior surface. We demonstrate efficient all-perovskite tandem solar modules using scalable fabrication techniques. By systematically tuning the cesium ratio of a methylammonium-free 1.8–electron volt mixed-halide perovskite, we improve the homogeneity of crystallization for blade-coated films over large areas. An electrically conductive conformal “diffusion barrier” is introduced between interconnecting subcells to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability of all-perovskite tandem solar modules. We developed a global analysis of satellite data to simultaneously monitor change in three highly interconnected intertidal ecosystem types—tidal flats, tidal marshes, and mangroves—from 1999 to 2019. Globally, 13,700 square kilometers of tidal wetlands have been lost, but these have been substantially offset by gains of 9700 k m2 , leading to a net change of 4000 k m2 over two decades. We found that 27% of these losses and gains were associated with direct human activities such as conversion to agriculture and restoration of lost wetlands. All other changes were attributed to indirect drivers, including the effects of coastal processes and climate change.

Here, we realize a many-body quantum-enhanced sensor to detect displacements and electric fields using a crystal of ~150 trapped ions. The center-of-mass vibrational mode of the crystal serves as a high-Q mechanical oscillator, and the collective electronic spin serves as the measurement device. By entangling the oscillator and collective spin and controlling the coherent dynamics via a many-body echo, a displacement is mapped into a spin rotation while avoiding quantum back-action and thermal noise. We achieve a sensitivity to displacements of 8.8 0.4 decibels below the standard quantum limit and a sensitivity for measuring electric fields of 240 10 nanovolts per meter in 1 second. Feasible improvements should enable the use of trapped ions in searches for dark matter. Such monolayer electrolytes show promise in achieving bioinspired functionalities through molecular control of ion transport. However, the understanding of ion dynamics in these systems is still scarce. Here, we develop an analytical theory, backed up by molecular dynamics simulations, that predicts strongly nonlinear effects in ion transport across quasi–two-dimensional slits. We show that under an electric field, ions assemble into elongated clusters, whose slow dynamics result in hysteretic conduction. This phenomenon, known as the memristor effect, can be harnessed to build an elementary neuron. Eliminating diffusive interfaces by fabricating single crystals or heavily alloying helps to address this issue but does not inhibit atomic diffusion at high homologous temperatures. We discovered that the Schwarz crystal structure was effective at suppressing atomic diffusion in a supersaturated aluminum–magnesium alloy with extremely fine grains. By forming these stable structures, diffusion-controlled intermetallic precipitation from the nanosized grains and their coarsening were inhibited up to the equilibrium melting temperature, around which the apparent across-boundary diffusivity was reduced by about seven orders of magnitude. Developing advanced engineering alloys using the Schwarz crystal structure may lead to useful properties for high-temperature applications. We show that large-scale woven metafabrics can provide high emissivity (94.5%) in the atmospheric window and high reflectivity (92.4%) in the solar spectrum because of the hierarchical-morphology design of the randomly dispersed scatterers throughout the metafabric. Through scalable industrial textile manufacturing routes, our metafabrics exhibit desirable mechanical strength, waterproofness, and breathability for commercial clothing while maintaining efficient radiative cooling ability. Practical application tests demonstrated that a human body covered by our metafabric could be cooled ~4.8 C lower than one covered by commercial cotton fabric. The cost-effectiveness and high performance of our metafabrics present substantial advantages for intelligent garments, smart textiles, and passive radiative cooling applications. These properties are of interest for imaging, solar energy harvesting, displays, and communications. Direct time-domain measurements of u2022QOOH unimolecular dissociation rates over a wide range of energies were found to be in accord with those predicted theoretically using state-of-the-art electronic structure characterizations of the transition state barrier region. Unimolecular decay was enhanced by substantial heavy-atom tunneling involving O-O elongation and C-C-O angle contraction along the reaction pathway. Master equation modeling yielded a fully a priori prediction of the pressure-dependent thermal unimolecular dissociation rates for the u2022QOOH intermediate—again increased by heavy-atom tunneling—which are required for global models of atmospheric and combustion chemistry.

The statue, which depicts Liberty throwing off her shackles and holding a beacon to light the world, was the creation of the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who crafted it a hundred years after the American Revolution in recognition of solidarity between the French and American people (though it"s fair to add that Bartholdi originally intended the statue for Alexandria in Egypt). Bartholdi built Liberty in Paris between 1874 and 1884, starting with a terracotta model and enlarging it through four successive versions to its present size, a construction of thin copper sheets bolted together and supported by an iron framework designed by Gustave Eiffel. The arm carrying the torch was exhibited in Madison Square Park for seven years, but the whole statue wasn"t officially accepted on behalf of the American people until 1884, after which it was taken apart, crated up and shipped to New York. It was to be another two years before it could be properly unveiled: money had to be collected to fund the construction of the base, and for some reason Americans were unwilling - or unable - to dip into their pockets. Only through the campaigning efforts of newspaper magnate Joseph Pulitzer, a keen supporter of the statue, did it all come together in the end. Richard Morris Hunt built a pedestal around the existing star-shaped Fort Wood, and Liberty was formally dedicated by President Cleveland on October 28, 1886, in a flag-waving shindig that has never really stopped. The statue was closed for a few years in the mid-1980s for extensive renovation and, in 1986, fifteen million people descended on Manhattan for the statue"s centennial celebrations. Today you can climb steps up to the crown, but the cramped stairway though the torch sadly remains closed to the public. Don"t be surprised if there"s an hour-long wait to ascend. Even if there is, Liberty Park"s views of the lower Manhattan skyline, the twin towers of the World Trade Center lording it over the jutting teeth of New York"s financial quarter, are spectacular enough.

陈强的人物生平

1994年3月于日本东北大学药学部药品物理化学专业获得药学博士学位。现任南开大学特聘教授,博士生导师。个人学习和工作经历:1980.09-1984.07 南开大学化学系物理化学专业,获得理学学士学位;1988.04-1994.03 日本东北大学药学部药品物理化学专业,获得药学硕士、药学博士学位;1996.03-2001.04 日本东北大学药学研究科任教并完成在职博士后研究,成为东北大学药学部创建以来第一位外籍教员;2001.05- 至今 任教于南开大学生命科学学院,并创建生物传感器实验室。兼任生物活性材料教育部重点实验室副主任,建立了新型诊断材料领域,开展了分子间相互作用和分子识别的新型分析技术、中药作用机理及方剂配伍规律研究新方法的构建,功能微生物及其在环保、农业中的应用等跨学科的研究。目前的主要研究方向:生物电分析化学、生物医学传感技术、中药药理及药物分析研究成果:在纳米新材料光电化学技术、高性能纳米结构固定化酶电极制备技术、分子间相互作用和分子识别的新型分析技术、中药作用机理及方剂配伍规律研究新方法的构建等方向取得了显著成果。在国内外核心刊物发表论文80余篇,其中40余篇被SCI、EI收录,已授权专利6项,申请中专利1项。主持和分担了国家自然科学基金、“863”计划、教育部、天津市等科研项目十余项,研究成果获1997年日本文部省奖励研究A和2005年度天津市自然科学二等奖(编号2005ZR-2-011-R1)。研究生培养:获2006年度南开大学“敬业”奖教金一等奖。指导博士研究生中有两名分别于2005、2006年获得“南开十杰”称号,所指导研究生多次获得“南开大学优秀硕士毕业论文”及“南开大学优秀毕业生”奖励。为研究生开设三门课程:“物理化学在生命体系中的应用”(硕士生)、 “生物电化学”( 博士生)、“生物传感器的原理与技术” ( 博士生)。硕士生、博士生招生专业:生物化学与分子生物学、动物学代表性文章目录:1.Zixia Zhao, Mingqiang Qiao, Feng Yin, Bin Shao, Baoyan Wu, Yanyan Wang, Xinsheng Wang, Xia Qin, Sha Li, Lei Yu, Qiang Chen.
