1、 Dominic ielts 网站 Free online IELTS preparation with Dominic Cole - 2 、simon ebook 如果说structure是一篇作文的骨架,idea和vocabulary肯定就是肉肉啦。 1、  所用材料 ① simon ebook ”Ideas for IELTS Topics” ② dominic 网站 vocabulary 部分 段落练习(就是提供了一些idea) Regulation of advertising There is little doubt that there should be some regulation of advertising, but it is unclear who should be responsible for this and how the regulations should apply. On one level, in the free market, companies should be allowed to promote their products and services as they see fit. However, there are surely some instances when it would be inappropriate for there to be no restrictions on advertising. For example, tobacco and alcohol companies should not be allowed to buy advertising time on television and radio. Simon电子书中“广告”话题下有三个部分:advantages, disadvantages, opinions 比如disadvantages方面 ”Negatives” Advertising manipulates people It aims to persuade people that buying a product will make them happier Advertisers focus on selling a brand image They use glamorous, successful people We now live in a consumer culture We are persuaded to follow the latest trend We are encouraged to associate certain brands with a higher status Advertisers often aim their marketing at children Children can easily be influenced by advertisements. Children put pressure on parents to buy them things Step2.  补充积累dominic上关于advertising的词汇用法 单词包括: Different forms of advertising(television commercial, radio spot, billboard, flyer, trailer…) Adjectives to describe advertising(witty, persuasive, misleading, word-of-mouth…) Other related words 段落包括:(更加细致的子话题讨论) Children and advertising Forms of advertising How advertising works The regulation of advertising 以 the regulation of advertising 为例: Regulation of advertising There is little doubt that there should be some regulation of advertising, but it is unclear who should be responsible for this and how the regulations should apply. On one level, in the free market, companies should be allowed to promote their products and services as they see fit. // However, there are surely some instances when it would be inappropriate for there to be no restrictions on advertising. For example, tobacco and alcohol companies should not be allowed to buy advertising time on television and radio. 通用类 比如there are surely some instances when… 2. 特定话题类 比如buyadvertising time on sth.) Consumers are faced with increasing numbers of advertisements from competing companies. To what extent do you think are consumers influenced by advertisements? What measures can be taken to protect them? Inundated with advertisements in daily life, consumers are influenced without any conscious.(总起句,表明同意的态度,更simple一点比较好? 自改1 there is little doubt that consumers are persuaded by adverts without any conscious) This can be obviously demonstrated with the case of junk food targeting children and cigarettes for young people. (这应该算是example 应放在detail的后面)(自改1 detail--it is a common sight of attractive images on most of the adverts. Example this is particularly evident in the case of junk food and cigarette targeting children or juveniles, who can hardly resist the temptation of mouthwatering hamburgers and fried chips on display and then buy them without thinking)  Advertisements of these products which are actively unhealthy are persuasive by presenting some attract without a second thought.// Products endorsed by celebrities can also be memorable and influential. (point-->similarly, advertising of products endorsed by celebrities could also be misleading in some ways) That is to say, if Miranda Kerr is using a brand of shampoo in a television commercial, countless number of girls will be likely to follow suit since most people tend to imitate the lifestyle of famous stars.(example)A further illustration is that when you are watching a movie in a theater, you would possibly have no idea that t t because you"ve already got familiar with their names.(三个方面果然比较多了…直接上example会不会不太好啊,自己的逻辑更倾向于example-explain分析原因,算了还是老实改改吧 details-->subsequently, there are also less obvious categories of advertising, say billboards by the roadside, flyers on the streets. Example-->A further illustration is that when you are watching a movie in a theater, you would possibly have no idea that the latest goods are also on display.) The first point to make is that advertising does make us spend money we do not need to.[总起, the general idea]main idea其实就是很simple的同不同意,其中根据get ideas出的挑一个深入说// There are nowadays so many different ways companies promote their products and services, ranging from television commercials to simple flyers that we cannot escape it[detail, there were; -ing; so…that..]// If, for example, you watch a football match on television, you will see the logos of the tournament sponsors. Likewise, if you watch the latest blockbuster movie, very probably you will see a product placed in the film by some advertising agency.[example, if…you will; 例子用likewise连接; -ed]//The volume of this advertising means that we, as consumers, tend to be profoundly influenced by it and buy without thinking.[与general idea呼应, …means…] 我自己总结了一些,不完全列举如下: 提出point:The first point to make is that… There can be no doubt that…It could be argued that 引出example:A good illustration of this is…This is particularly the case… 引出下一个point:There is also the consideration that…The impact on… should not be forgotten 同样地,这需要自己从范文中积累,一些很简单的词比如second, another point等等都是十分有用的,我上面列出的这些句子有些稍显冗余,需要根据特定环境来选择。

Nowadays, advertisers not only offer free samples but also free cars, houses and travelling around the world. They design hundreds of competitions and some competitors have the possibilities to win a large amount of money. The broadcast and TV station enable the advertisers to use this method to attract the attention of millions of people.

advertisers discovered years ago that all of us love to get something for nothing

所原句处理觉of引导串放间麻烦拖面读起更加舒服所灵ofsuchfine-grainedinformation放句末原则of引导串仍修饰valuevalue体for/about自看thevalueforsththevalueaboutsth都符合value词用说for/about跟illustrateillustrate及物词宾语表明内容接to接表明象没illustrate面放for或者about道理懂追问望采纳

Affiliate Marketing

The Future Of Online Advertising: Entertainment vs. InformationThere are two principal ways advertisers are trying to create value for consumers on the web — and they must create value because, you know, consumers are in control. On the web, advertisers can provide entertainment or information. How effective is advertising as information on the web? See Google"s $15B in ad revenue — an $5.19 billion in ad revenue in Q1 2008. The technology of web search enabled advertisers to create value for consumers in a way that was never possible in analogue media.Searching for a product or service? Here"s a link to information on that product or service. The value proposition to consumers is so perfect, so pure, that it took years for Madison Avenue to realize that Google had created billions of dollars in advertising value right under their noses. It"s hard work winning Clio awards — who has time to think about at these silly little text ads?But that Clio-award winning creativity is finally starting to focus its attention on the web, and just as with every TV spot that you"ve ever TiVoed past, Madison Avenue wants to entertain you. With a 30-second TV commercial the worst that advertising creatives could do was waste your time or insult your intelligence. But now Madison Avenue has discovered digital technology. And like every web design who ever made something flash on a page just because they could (where are my teflon sunglasses?), ad creatives are harnessing the full power of web applications and the web"s snarky wild west ethos.Representations: You warrant and represent that: (a) the names, cities, states, gender, e-mail addresses and mobile phone numbers (as well as any other information) you identified to us for yourself and/or any of the designated Invited Users are accurate, complete, and valid for the identified individual; (b) you are the sole and exclusive owner of each photograph and recordings of yourself that you uploaded to this website and all rights therein; (c) you have the full and exclusive right, power, and authority to submit all of the photograph(s) and recording(s), and to grant us the right to make any recordings of you, and to grant us the rights to all of the photograph(s) and recordings herein granted upon the terms and conditions set forth herein; (f) all of your photograph(s) and recorded personal messages are in keeping with our image and are not offensive or otherwise violate any part of these Terms; (g) your photograph(s) and recorded personal messages does not defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person"s personal or property rights or any other third party rights; (h) if your photograph appears to endorse Lexus, Toyota, or Scion brand vehicles or any TMS/USA Entities, and/or imply any association with any TMS/USA Entities or our business, you consent to such appearance of endorsement and/or association, and if a third party appears to endorse, or be associated with, Lexus, Toyota or Scion brand vehicles, TMS/USA Entities or our business, you have obtained the express written consent of such third party to such endorsement and/or association (and, if requested to do so, can produce such written consent in a form and manner acceptable to us); and (i) if any photograph contains persons other than yourself or third party elements not owned by you, you have obtained express written consent to submit such photograph and allow it to be used in the manner contemplated by these Terms from each and every person depicted in the photograph and each and every owner of any third party element, and, if requested to do so, can produce such written consent in a form and manner acceptable to us (and in particular, if any minor is depicted in any photograph, you have obtained the express written consent of the minor"s parent or legal guardian to submit such photograph and allow it to be used in the manner contemplated in these Terms).Grant of Rights: You grant to us and our designees an exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sub-licensable right to use your name, e-mail address, photograph(s) and/or recorded personal message(s), and any information you provided to us regarding any Invited User, in connection with The Other You experience and send any and all such information, photograph(s) and/or recorded personal message(s) to the Invited Users you designate and others to facilitate this entertainment activity. Further, you understand that, although not intended, there may be an unintended release of such information and/or items to the public, and you waive (and agree never to assert) any and all claims you may have with respect to such unintended release. By submitting any information and/or materials herein, you forever waive and agree never to assert, any copyrights, “moral” rights, or other rights that you may have in any materials or information provided hereunder. This “entertainment activity”This, my friends, is advertising as entertainment on the web.So what does advertising as information look like in the same market? Try a search for “best hatchbacks” (the Toyota Matrix is a hatchback — no that this is relevant to the entertainment activity mind you).

In my opinion, money is very important, however, it can not buy everthing, such as, love, friendship, trust and so on. As a result, we should have the ability to make money as well as enjoy life to the fullest. If I were given a billion dollars, I would buy a big villa for my dear parents, what"s more, I will spend some of it building a vocation park with the hope that everyone could relax themselves when they are tired. When I buy something, I will take three factors into consideration. First one, whether the objects is enduring or not. Secondly, do I have so much money to afford it? Last one, are the objects useful?

Advertising"s Biggest Advantages1You have complete control. Unlike public relations efforts, you determine exactly where, when and how often your message will appear, how it will look, and what it will say. You can target your audience more readily and aim at very specific geographic areas and vertical markets.2You can be consistent, presenting your company"s image and sales message repeatedly to build awareness and trust. A distinctive identity will eventually become clearly associated with your company, like McDonald"s golden arches. Customers will recognize you quickly and easily - in ads, mailers, packaging or signs - if you present yourself consistently. What Are Advertising"s Drawbacks?1It takes planning. Advertising works best and costs least when planned and prepared in advance. For example, you"ll pay less per ad in newspapers and magazines by agreeing to run several ads over time rather than deciding issue by issue. Likewise, you can save money by preparing a number of ads at once.2It takes time and persistence. The effectiveness of your advertising improves gradually over time, because customers don"t see every one of your ads. You must repeatedly remind prospects and customers about the benefits of doing business with you. The long-term effort triggers recognition and helps special offers or direct marketing pay off. 3Advertising costs money. Advertising is only one tool in your sales and marketing arsenal and its cost-effectiveness has to be compared to other business building tactics. Is it better to hire a new sales rep or place an advertisement in the local newspaper? You should always consider your ROI and your opportunity costs before you start an advertising campaign.

In the past couple of weeks a quarrel has illustrated the value to advertisers of such fine-grained information: Should advertisers assume that people are happy to be tracked and sent behavioural ads? Or should they have explicit permission? In December 2010 America"s Federal Trade Cornmission (FTC) proposed adding a "do not track "(DNT) option to internet browsers ,so that users could tell adwertisers that they did not want to be followed .Microsoft"s Internet Explorer and Apple"s Safari both offer DNT ;Google"s Chrome is due to do so this year. Geting a DNT signal does not oblige anyone to stop tracking, although some companies have promised to do so. Unable to tell whether someone really objects to behavioural ads or whether they are sticking with Microsoft"s default, some may ignore a DNT signal and press on anyway. Also unclear is why Microsoft has gone it alone. Atter all, it has an ad business too, which it says will comply with DNT requests, though it is still working out how. If it is trying to upset Google, which relies almost wholly on default will become the norm. DNT does not seem an obviously huge selling point for windows 8-though the firm has compared some of its other products favourably with Google"s on that count before.

the case against advertisingmost people say that they find advertisements useful for giving them information about the products which are available on the market. but advertisements do not only give information, they also try to influence our emotions.the advertisers know that everyone tends to dream of having a better life. we dream of being better educated, more successful, wealthier, better looking, more adventurpus, and so on. the advertisers try to make us believe that our dreams will come true if we buy their products. this is why advertisements for home cleaning products often try to convince ladies that they can become perfect wives and mothers only if they use those products. and advertisements aimed at men often include the picture of a pretty girl. such advertisements are suggesting that a man will be more attractive towomen if he owns a certain type of car, or watch, or if he dresses in a certain style.the feelings that advertisements try to play on will differ according to the age groups for which the advertisements are intended. advertisements for teenagers will emphasize that those products will make young people not only more attractive, more up to date, more socially successful, and more able to enjoy themselves, but also more successful in their education and job prospects.the problem with advertisements is that they tell us that money can make our dreams come true. but this is obviously not so. we cannot buy personal good looks, intelligence, good friendships or a happy family. a lot of advertisements are, therefore, a form of lying. they can also make peoplefeel depressed and discontented with their ordinary lives, especially those people who have only a small amount of money to spend on luxuries.

In the past couple of weeks a quarrel has illustrated the value to advertisers of such fine-grained information,把枝干去掉进行缩句,a quarrel has illustrated the value to advertisers。 In the past couple of weeks“不是这里的重点。而后面的”of such fine-grained information“讲的到底是什么。 那么value of such fine-grained information是宾语,信息的价值。 In the past couple of weeks a quarrel has illustrated the value of such fine-grained information to advertisers. 但原则上,of引导的这一串仍然是修饰value,和value是一体的,如果是for/about,你自己看 the value for sth和the value about sth都是不符合value这个词的用法的。如果说for/about是跟在illustrate也不对。

What do you think of advertisement

No one can avoid being influenced by advertisements. Much as we may pride ourselves on our good taste, we are nolonger free to choose the things we want, for advertising exerts a subtleinfluence on us. In their efforts to persuade us to buy this or that product, advertisershave made a close study of human nature and have classified all our littleweaknesses.Advertisers discovered years ago that allof us love to get something for nothing. An advertisement which begins with themagic word FREE can rarely go wrong. These days, advertisers not only offerfree samples, but free cars, free houses, and free trips round the world aswell. They devise hundreds of competitions which will enable us to win hugesums of money. Radio and television have made it possible for advertisers tocapture the attention of millions of people in this way. During a radio programme, a company ofbiscuit manufacturers once asked listeners to bake biscuits and send them totheir factory. They offered to pay $10 a pound for the biggest biscuit baked bya listener. The response to this competition was tremendous. Before long, biscuits of all shapes and sizes began arriving at the factory. One ladybrought in a biscuit on a wheelbarrow. It weighed nearly 500 pounds. A littlelater, a man came along with a biscuit which occupied the whole boot of hiscar. All the biscuits that were sent were carefully weighed. The largest was713 pounds. It seemed certain that this would win the prize. But just beforethe competition closed, a lorry arrived at the factory with a truly colossalbiscuit which weighed 2,400 pounds. It had been baked by a college student whohad used over 1,000 pounds of flour, 800 pounds of sugar, 200 pounds of fat,and 400 pounds of various other ingredients. It was so heavy that a crane hadto be used to remove it from the lorry. The manufacturers had to pay more moneythan they had anticipated, for they bought the biscuit from the student for$24,000.

An extreme sport (also called action sport, adventure sport, and adventurous sport) is any sport or physical activity with a very high level of danger and often involve speed, height, high level of physical exertion, highly specialized gear or spectacular stunts.A feature of such activities in the view of some is their alleged capacity to induce a adrenaline rush in participants (a misnomer, since often the rush or high obtained is a product of increased levels of dopamine endorphins and serotonin).Furthermore,a recent study suggests that the link to adrenaline and "true" extreme sports is tentative. The study defined "true" extreme sports as a leisure or recreation activity where the most likely outcome of a mismanaged accident or mistake was death. This definition was designed to separate the marketing hype from the activity.Another characteristic of activities so labeled is they tend to be individual rather than team sports.Extreme sports can include both competitive and non-competitive activities. Extreme sports are often associated with young adults wishing to push themselves to the limits of their physical ability and fear,in turn pushing the boundaries of a particular sport. This youthful demographic accounts too for extreme sports" frequent association with youth culture, including its clothing, fashions and music. Some contend that the distinction between an extreme sport and a conventional one is as much to do with marketing as it is to do with perceptions about levels of danger involved or the amount of adrenaline generated.Snowboarding thus has a more extreme image than skiing due to differing marketing strategies and the fact of being a newer sport, even though skiing is a faster and at least equally dangerous activity.Furthermore a sport like rugby union, though dangerous and adrenaline-inducing,would not fall into the category of extreme sports due to its traditional image, and it does not have certain things that other extreme sports do,such as very high level of speed and an intention to perform stunts.Scuba diving is not seen as an extreme sport these days, despite the level of danger and physical exertion, because of its primarily adult demographic. Also the fact that it is not classed as a sport,as there is no objective to the activity.Another example:compare the perception of demolition derby, not usually thought of as an extreme sport,to that of BMX racing, which is.Demolition derby has an adult demographic,BMX is a youth sport. Hang glider launching from Mount TamalpaisThe definition of extreme sports may have shifted over the years due to marketing trends. When the term first surfaced circa the late 1980s/early 1990s,it was used for adult sports such as skydiving, scuba diving, surfing, rock climbing, mountaineering, storm chasing, hang gliding, and bungee jumping, many of which were undergoing an unprecedented growth in popularity at the time.Outside magazine, not the X Games, epitomized the meaning of the term, and if there was a clothing style associated with extreme sports it was an "outdoorsy" look favoring brand names associated with mountaineering or backpacking such as The North Face and Patagonia,Teva sandals or hiking boots for footwear, etc. The term nowadays applies more to youth sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, and BMX and is closely associated with marketing efforts aimed at youth (e.g.the ad campaigns of Mountain Dew),and with their favored styles of clothing and music, especially the kind of urban baggy look associated with skateboarders, and loud, fast alternative rock. This shift in styles may also be partly a generational shift,as Baby Boomers and Generation X have aged and marketing efforts associated with extreme sports shifted toward the younger Generation Y demographic sometime in the mid to late 1990s. The term gained popularity with the advent of the X Games,a made-for-television collection of events.Advertisers were quick to recognise the appeal of the event to the public,as a consequence competitors and organisers are not wanting for sponsorship these days. The high profile of extreme sports and the culture surrounding them has also led people to invent parodies, such as Extreme ironing, urban housework, extreme croquet, extreme unicycling, and house gymnastics. The difference between the serious extreme sports and imitation or parody is not always obvious. For example, extreme wheelbarrow and Finger Jousting are often thought of as parodies, while this is not actually the case. Some purists repudiate the stereotypical "adrenaline junkie" tag.The practitioners would claim they enjoy developing their physical and/or mental skills, seek mastery of inhospitable environments, look to escape from the mundane rigors of day-to-day existence,or simply love the wilderness environment in which many of these sports take place.Bob Drury,a paraglider pilot says,"We do these things not to escape life, but to prevent life escaping us"钬攅ven though accidents in these sports could be fatal. Many participants also don"t think of their activities as either extreme or sports at all.To the most passionate purists, the sport label doesn"t fit because they aren"t competing to win anything.Worse, the extreme label has frequently been blamed for stereotyping participants in these activities as stupid, reckless, and even suicidal.Eric Brymer PhD (2005) .also found that the potential of various extraordinary human experiences, many of which parallel those found in activities such as meditation, was an important part of the extreme sport experience. Some of the sports have existed for decades and their proponents span generations, some going on to become well known personalities.Rock climbing and ice climbing have spawned publicly recognisable names such as Edmund Hillary,Chris Bonington,Wolfgang Gullich and more recently Joe Simpson.Another example is surfing, which was originally invented centuries ago by the native inhabitants of Hawaii. Several extreme sports, including snowboarding, were included in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and 2006 Winter Olympic Games, but many contend that these activities are not even sports, and lose much on their essential elements in the mainstream.

Advertisement is good for our life Advertisements appear everywhere in the modern society. Newspapers and billboards carry advertisements. Some products are announced on TV and radio. Advertisements bring us a lot of conveniences. They can tell us what things are available and where to buy them, which can save us a lot of time. They also provide many kinds of the same product, which can save us money. A wide range of institutions receive financial support through advertisements. Without the support, we would have to pay much more for newspapers and sport games. Nowadays, advertisements have become part of culture. Perfect ads are entertainment for us, and also provide us with some lately information. Can you find out some such example in the ads 19However, ads are not welcome sometimes. A most irrigative thing is to watch ads before and during an interesting film or TV program. There are so many of them that they make you forget what you are waiting for. The ironical thing is that advertisement of one type of thing are often shown one after another, so that you may feel confused to which one should you choose, such as the ads for so many shampoos. Advertisement is not always reliable. What you see on TV, what you hear over the radio and what you read in the newspapers are not necessary the same as the product itself.
