《孔乙己》是我国的现代文学巨匠鲁迅先生的著名小说，也是20世纪中国文学史上的经典短篇小说之一。最早发表在1919年4月《新青年》第六卷第四号，后编入《呐喊》，是鲁迅在“五四”运动前夕继《狂人日记》之后第二篇白话小说。小说主要描写了孔乙己在封建腐朽思想和科举制度毒害下，精神上迂腐不堪，麻木不仁，生活上四体不勤，穷困潦倒，在人们的嘲笑戏谑中混度时日，最后被封建地主阶级所吞噬的悲惨形象。篇幅不长，但是深刻揭露了当时科举制度对知识分子精神的毒害和封建制度“吃人”的本质。具有强烈的反封建意义。孔乙己是鲁迅小说《孔乙己》中的主人公。《孔乙己》是鲁迅在“五四”运动前夕继《狂人日记》之后写的第二篇白话小说，这篇小说描写一个没有考上秀才的读书人孔乙己，他丧失了做人的尊严，沦落为小酒店里人们嘲笑的对象，从而暴露了当时的社会问题。孔乙己那可怜而可笑的个性特征及悲惨结局，既是旧中国广大下层知识分子认为只有科举一条出路的悲惨命运的生动写照，又是中国封建儒家独尊下科举制度“吃人”本质的具体表现。孔乙己人物特点：孔乙己生活在新旧社会的过渡时期，环境造就人，他的性格是具有两面性的，一方面善良朴实，另一方面迂腐顽固，另外他也是一个清高的人，总以为自己就是对的，正确的，这样性格的一个人物，毫无疑问是个悲剧形象。善良的一面体现在他教小孩子认字和分茴香豆给小孩子吃的两个细节上。孩子们围住他，他“便给他们茴香豆吃”。茴香豆并不是什么稀罕物，可是在那样一个物资匮乏的年代，在“倘肯多花一文，便可以买一碟咸煮笋，或茴香豆，做下酒物”的年代，在卖酒都要羼水的年代，对于一个穷愁潦倒之人来说，确是何其珍贵，可他却一人一颗，一直分到所剩无几为止。一个“便”字就可见其大方，真真是分得毫不迟疑，毫不手软。相比较那些个掌柜和长衫客们，他们中有谁不比孔乙己阔绰，有谁拥有的不比孔乙己多，但又有谁分豆给孩子们吃呢？最让人忍俊不禁的是当孩子们再次把“眼睛望向碟子”，他不是谩骂，不是恐吓，竟也“着了慌似的”哼起了《论语》里的调子直哀求，一个拥有善良与透明心性的老头跃然纸上。迂腐的一面体现在孔乙己是清朝末年的知识分子，他信奉万般皆下品，唯有读书高的教条，但是他连秀才都没有考上，有没有功名利禄，生活过得非常穷酸。孔乙己有着封建教育制度影响下的书生特有的清高本质，没有经济来源，也不愿意从事劳动赚取钱财，端着读书人的架子只能越过越穷。关于孔乙己那句“窃书算不算偷”的名言，我们可以看出他作为穷困潦倒的书生的迂腐一面。当大家嘲笑他偷书的时候，孔乙己只能无力的回击一句“窃书不算偷”，读书人的事不能算偷，这是多么可笑的歪理，此时孔乙己的穷酸迂腐可见一斑。清高体现在他的话语中，孔乙己虽然饿得脸色青白，却始终不肯脱下又破又脏的长衫，对自己认识几个无用的废字沾沾自喜，甚至以自己是个读书人而自命不凡，别人取笑他时，他还要强辩几句：“你怎么这么凭空污人清白……”，当别人问他“当真认识字么？”他却显出不屑置辩的神气。同时，他还固守“君子固穷”的道德理念。以上诸多分析都可以说明孔乙己自视清高。孔乙己的清高使他不能正确的认识自己，以为自己就是对的，正确的，并且顽固不守，导致他的一个悲剧形象。
