Through their activities, the Societies tended to be aware of the range of social services available in their communities. They thus became the primary source of information and referral for all services. Through these referrals, a Society often became the central agency in the social services of its community. 4P理论的来源与发展历程

杰瑞u2022麦卡锡(JerryMcCarthy)教授在其《营销学》(Marketing,第一版,出版于1960年左右)最早提出了这个理论。不过早在他取得西北大学的博士学位时,他的导师理查德u2022克鲁维(RichardClewett)就已使用了以“产品(Product)、定价(Price)、分销(Distribution)、促销(Promotion)”为核心的理论框架。杰瑞把“分销”换成“地点”(Place),使这个理论成为所谓的“4P”理论。大家认为我对4P理论的普及起到了推动作用,不过我认为自己对这个理论的主要贡献应该是阐述了4P是战术上的,必须在对于STP的战略决策后进行,STP即市场细分(Segmentation)、目标市场选择(Targeting)、定位(Positioning)。u20224P理论对于营销决策是否仍具有指导价值?4P仍然为企业的营销策划提供了一个有用的框架。不过,4P是站在企业立场上的,而不是客户的立场。由此,4P应该转换为4C:产品(Product)——客户价值(CustomerValue);价格(Price)——客户成本(CustomerCost);地点(Place)——客户便利(CustomerConvenience);促销(Promotion)——客户沟通(CustomerCommunication);
