注：这是将近两周前在豆瓣上写的一篇文章。没想到拖了两周才找到时间细细修改一遍。希望比之前写的好一些。 毕竟这是哲学探讨，所以开宗明义先把答案写出来，这样只需要答案的话便不需往下耗费脑力了。（我倒觉得生活中很多时候只要一个靠谱的答案就够了，什么事情都要探本溯源未免太辛苦。）简单的说，“存在即合理”是彻头彻尾的误译。误译有两种。第一种是翻字典就能发现的错误。比如说“存在即合理” (Was vernünftig ist, das ist wirklich; und was wirklich ist, das is vernünftig.)德语原意和汉语意义颇不相同。正确的译法应该是“凡是理性的就是实在的，凡是实在的就是理性的”。如果嫌我太罗嗦，说是“实在即理性”，也无不可。译法一变，很明显，意思便不同。第二种是要通读作者才能发现的错误。“存在即合理”也面对这个问题：黑格尔，或者说很多聪明人都一样，不喜欢循规蹈矩。他使用的词汇常常并不遵循常见的用法或者意义。实在和理性在黑格尔的词汇表里都有完全不一样的定义。按照字面上翻译，也往往不能够得到黑格尔的意思。好了，所以答案十分简单，“存在即合理”在我们日常用法中的意义，比如说凡是存在的事物都有他们的原因，或者更进一步，增加了一种价值判断，说凡是存在的事物都应该存在，都是完全错误的。 那么什么是正确的？说实话，“实在即理性”这五个字，争了两百年，也没有得到普遍认同的解释。甚至其中有一些细节问题很少有人探讨。我自然不敢在各位大师之间站队，所以这篇文章的方法论很清晰：我提供一种还算靠谱的解答，而且挑的是最容易看懂说清楚的那种解答。下面要详细讲解这五个字里的复杂细节。我预备分成三个小节。先讲什么是“理性的”，什么是“实在的”，最后讲实在即理性在这个逻辑关系和实质关系又代表什么。 1.理性的(vernünftig)黑格尔对于理性有很多不同的解释。我挑选一种最简单的，即黑格尔在历史哲学讲义中的版本：理性的，便是历史进程中必要的。这似乎把话说清楚了，又仿佛没有说清楚。我们举个例子。假设我给我的小表弟一盒打散的拼图。折腾了半天，他终于把这五百块零散的拼图一片一片放到了一起，组成了一幅图画。在这个过程中，每一份拼图都是必要的，放到一起才能构成这图画。对于黑格尔来说，也是一样，历史进程中有一些必要的步骤，他们都是一片一片拼图，缺了他们，就拼不成一幅画。这些必要的步骤，就是理性的。当然，历史进程中也有一些可有可无的步骤，比如说我今天出门摔了一跤，我估摸着我再鼻青脸肿也不能影响世界历史进程。所以我摔了一跤就不是理性的。 这个解释必然面对着两种挑战。实际上是许多种，不过挑两种明显的。首先，是历史学家的挑战：历史学家或许愿意退一步，说好吧，那我们就假设我们能把这个世界上的每一个步骤，他们之间的关系弄清楚；就算我们退一万步，假设我们能把每一片拼图都找出来，现在有个问题：在每一个历史时期，我们都能询问一个反历史的问题，比如说如果毛XX半路被人打死了，这个世界还不是照转，不过是一个和现下不一样的历史而已，你怎么能说某几个步骤是“必要的”呢？简单的回答分两条：首先，黑格尔认为我们实际上无法想象“另外一个历史”，缘故是，所有我们能够想象的元素，都是过去的历史提供给我们的。比如说我们想象一头独角兽，休谟就指出，这不过是把一只角和一匹马拼起来而已。甚至我们想象毛XX半路被人打死了，作为一种对现实的否定，实际上也同时承认和继承了现实，不然就没法否定了。简单说，实际上不存在另外一个世界：我们没法凭空不依赖历史创造出一个另外的世界。其次，黑格尔认为历史进程中的内在矛盾必然创生一个特定的下一步。比方说，如果有一个国家民不聊生，政府又横征暴敛，逼到极限，大家当然知道会发生什么事情。或许不是陈胜吴广，不过该发生的总归会发生的。 其次是逻辑学家的挑战：承接上文，黑格尔似乎站在历史的终点，倒推回去说，你看看，那时候发生了这件事，它一定会发生的。说的难听一点，就是站着说话不腰疼。说的逻辑一点，就是在历史的某一个步骤之时，只有我们预先假设最后的结果，假设这一堆拼图能拼成一幅画，才能意识到任何一个历史步骤是必要的，是总归会发生的。结果跑到历史终点，黑格尔先生居然又说，因为他们的确拼成了一幅画，所以之前的假设是成立的。这不是摆明了循环论证么？这个挑战实际上并不难回答：在拼图的过程中，我们不断意识到每一片拼图有自己合适的位置，拼图的形状也或多或少让我们意识到他们有特定的匹配对象。虽然我们未必知道最终的结果，但是在历史中我们能不断修正我们假设，甚至说历史就是这个过程，就是我们不断修正我们的判断和判断标准的过程。最终我们完整地拼出一幅画，拍拍手，说，看，果然拼对了！这不正是我们拼图的过程么？而历史的进程也类似。我认为对于黑格尔更加难以解决的是另外一个问题：即黑格尔如何证明自己已经收集齐了所有的拼图，如何证明自己已经拼成了一幅完整的图画，如何认定他已经站在历史的终点？这似乎是一个很难回答的问题，特别是有不少作者在文本中找到证据，指出黑格尔对此态度十分暧昧。于是只能暂时搁在一旁了。 2.实在的(wirklich)黑格尔在之后的评注中指出他使用“实在”用意是区分两种不同的存在，一种是Existenz一种是Dasein。其中的辨析十分繁复，只能指出一个要点。对于黑格尔来说，凡是实在的，必须和它的“概念”相匹配。要解释为什么是如此，我们到不必引入黑格尔的哲学。理论很简单：当我们说拼图的时候，我们其实是在说一个通用的概念，一种特定的却又通用的概念。只有有这种概念，我们才能提及或者思考任何一种特定存在的物件。比如说没有这个通用的概念，我们没法向人指出那一大团各自形状花色都不同的碎片其实都是一种东西。我们甚至没法告诉别人他们有“形状”，“花色”，并且是“碎片”，因为这些都是概念。我们只能说，咳，看这儿，然后用手一指。但是这一指，实际上什么也说明不了。我这一秒伸手一指，你又如何知道下一秒还是一样的东西？对于人更加是如此。我们每一分每一秒都是一个不同的存在。在每一个瞬间我们都各自不同。如果没有关于“人”或者“我”的概念，我们不过是每秒都不同的存在罢了。我们甚至不能宣称“我依然存在！”因为上一秒的那个我，早就死了。 这是一个简单版的描述。我的中文有些退步，发现用英文，一句话就说清楚了。A concept is a universal reference to an indefinite number of particular occurrences/moments. 这里的概念和亚里士多德的Form并不相同。黑格尔并不认为概念是任何存在内在的一部分。相反，他认为概念不过是一种的建构：在某个社群中分享的观点而已。比方说很多社群会认为长着两个眼睛一个鼻子一张嘴巴的生物都是人类。但是有不同的社区认为人类和兔子或者其他的生物虽然面貌不同，但是并无本质的不同，他们都是生灵。 这个概念和经验主义和理性主义也都完全不同。黑格尔不认为我们有一个绝对的独立的概念，也不认为我们单纯通过推演法从不同的存在中寻找到他们共享的概念。黑格尔的理由很简单：我们无法找到一个没有概念的世界。如果没有概念，我们无法思考，无法使用语言。因此概念虽然是社群建构，但是他们必须一直存在。黑格尔不关心他们的起源：即使真的有起源的话，起源前情况不能够为我们所知晓。黑格尔关心的是：概念本身也有其历史必然性。它伴随着历史一起存在，并且一直在某种意义上是不能够被解构的：它们是给定的(Given)。 因为概念是历史决定的，给定的，所以对应概念的实在也必然是历史决定的和给定的。 3.实在即理性实在即理性是一个比较简单的逻辑判断，A is B，至少表面上很清楚。但是这个逻辑本身，按照黑格尔的看法，实则十分繁复。我将先讨论这个逻辑结构，然后讨论他们的实质意义。 黑格尔认为A is B，是一种绝对统一，因为他们既对立(A和B不是简单的语义重复)，又统一（我们意识到了A就是B）。举个例子，我们都知道晨星（启明星）和昏星都是金星。为了发现他们的统一，我们一般有这样一个思考过程：晨星是金星；昏星是金星；金星就是金星；啊，所以晨星就是昏星！如果我们简单地把统一定义成其中的第三步，“金星就是金星”，我们不过是语义重复，自己重复自己而已。更加紧要的是，我们丢失了一部分信息：也就是晨星和昏星的对立。这就是为什么我们增加了第四步。对于黑格尔来说，第四步很有趣，这一步返回去包含了过去所有的三步和自己。“所以”这个词汇指向了过去的所有步骤。晨星和昏星指向了起始时的对立，“就是”则指向了整个对立和统一。换言之，绝对统一并非是其中的任何一个步骤，而是所有步骤：这就是概念的历史性。绝对统一这个概念有它的历史，而这个历史就是这个概念本身。 同时黑格尔认为，要理解任何一个概念，我们唯一能做的，就是重复这个历史。比方说我和我的朋友说，晨星就是昏星，但是不加解释，他很可能会一头雾水：这句话可能毫无意义。而唯一让他领悟这句话意义的办法，就是重复上述的步骤，也就是历史。 最后，我们回到开头，讨论什么是实在及理性。简单地说，“实在即理性”就是拼图。他们的历史（拼图也可以是动词，描述了一个特定的过程，把不同的碎片放在一起，成为了一幅图画）正是他们的“概念” （作为名词的拼图），与他们存在（从无数特定的碎片变成了完整的拼图）的统一，使得他们拼图成为了“实在的”。而正是相同的历史，让我们意识到每一片拼图本身（他们的存在），对于最后的达成都是必要的，也是理性的。当然在，即使是完整的评图，也不过一些特定的，无所谓的存在。不过当大家把拼图想象成完整的，整个世界历史和所有人类文明，我们就能够体会黑格尔的意思了。 一句话总结，“实在即理性”，就是历史性的统一。
