硅谷创投教父Peter Thiel(彼得u2022蒂尔)的故事

外国名人创业成功案例   导语:先不说创业成功人士在事业上所经历的磨难,成功创业者在生活中也是经历了九九磨难。下面一起来了解外国创业名人的坎坷励志故事吧!   1、乔布斯   在校女大学生怀孕了,因父母的极力反对,不能跟男助教奉子成婚,孩子生下后被送到福利院。这类不幸的故事发生在了史蒂夫·乔布斯身上。戏剧化的一面是,小乔布斯被领养不到一年,这对年轻的夫妇成功结婚了,且还生下了一个女儿,一家子好不融洽,这位妹妹后来还成为著名电视剧《辛普森一家》中的人物原型。   2、贝佐斯   继谷歌之后,第二家市值过千亿美元的互联网企业、亚马逊公司创始人杰夫·贝佐斯的出身也可用“不幸”来形容。   贝佐斯是一位16岁女高中生的孩子,这位叫吉斯的女孩,父母倒非常开明,不仅在小婴儿出生前,出钱让女儿和上高三的男朋友结了婚,还为女婿的学业和事业奔走外国创业名人的坎坷故事外国创业名人的坎坷故事。不过,贝佐斯的这位亲生父亲乔根森烂泥扶不上墙。   为他付了新墨西哥大学的学费,没多久他却辍学了。后来岳父又为他在新墨西哥州警察署谋了一份差事,也没干多久。乔根森还嗜酒如命,经常和朋友畅饮到半夜。最后,1965年6月,当贝佐斯17个月大的时候,这位年轻的夫妇离婚告终。   乔布斯、贝佐斯这两位世界级创业大佬所用的都不是自己的本姓。比较起以下提到的创业大佬的生活辛酸,贝佐斯、乔布斯已属万幸了,他们遇到了不错的养父、继父,他们的困难只是父母婚姻上的变故。   成功人士不仅要克服事业上非同一般的重重困境,生活上也要历经磨难,所谓九九大难,终念真经。   3、托马斯·沃森   IBM创始人托马斯·沃森,40岁时虽贵为公司副总裁,却被毫无颜面地开除出公司,带着新婚不久的妻子和一个嗷嗷待哺的儿子,从俄亥俄州的代顿市迁到陌生的纽约重新开始,另外他还官司在身,面临牢狱之灾。   4、立石一真   欧姆龙公司的创建者立石一真的命更苦,欧姆龙公司后来成为了全球知名的自动化控制及电子设备制造厂商,ATM、车站自动售检票系统等就是它首创   立石一真 49岁时公司正处于濒临破产边缘、苟延残喘之际,妻子去世,留下7个孩子,最小的是刚出生的婴儿,后来立石一真能创下大业,需要何等毅力,需要忍耐何等的苦痛!   5、保罗·高尔文   摩托罗拉创始人的生活也曾一团糟外国创业名人的坎坷故事投资创业。经过两次创业失败后,1928年9月,高尔文制造公司在芝加哥哈里森街847号的一幢出租的大楼里诞生了,这家公司就是后来鼎鼎大名的摩托罗拉公司,但创办人保罗·高尔文的命运并没因此转好,伴随着1929年10月“黑色星期五”的降临,高尔文公司因库存过多濒临破产。更大的打击是生活方面的,先后5个月内,高尔文相继失去了父亲、母亲和岳母等几位亲人,一个又一个打击使他连悲痛的力量都没有了。   不幸并没有因此终止。就在高尔文的事业如日中天时,1942年10月的一个晚上,高尔文的妻子被闯人行窃的强盗杀害了。   外国新颖创业项目   国外新型小投资创业项目1:美国椰莱娃娃   美国一家玩具工厂通过市场调查,注意到这样一种现象:西方国家普遍出现人口负增长,一些人很想表达母爱但又对生育婴儿望而生畏;人口老龄化,不少老人的生活寂寞无聊。为此,工厂开发出一种名叫椰莱娃娃的玩偶。它构思奇特,进行了人格化设计。娃娃屁股上有接生人员的印章,还附着一张出生证,登记了娃娃的姓名、手印和脚印,购买时需办理领养手续。这种碎布做成的椰莱娃娃由于满足了人们的心理需要和情感寄托,深受儿童和成年人的喜爱。   国外新型小投资创业项目2:宠物当“月老”   “纯种迷你红贵宾GG,聪明伶俐,现已一岁多,该是交女朋友的时候了,希望有合适的纯种贵宾MM速来征婚哦。”一岁多就要征婚?仔细看才知道,原来这是为宠物“征婚”。出生于1984年的兰胜东就是它们的“月老”。   宠物族这个群体相对稳定、人数不少,且经济基础雄厚,都很舍得在宠物身上花钱。所以“宠物红娘”这个创业点子不愁没有市场。据兰介绍,在其网站的促成下,有个山西的藏獒主人就不远千里飞赴厦门,与另一个藏獒主人结成了亲家。在多个二级城市,以网站为依托,建立类似狗狗会所概念的游乐场,吸引玩家特别是周末来遛狗。这样,还能给宠物主人创造更多的交友机会,建立起同城宠物主人之间的关系网。   国外新型小投资创业项目3:无糖食品店   随着保健意识的提高,不少消费者在购买食品时都十分注意了解所买食品含糖成分是否过高,专门经营各种无糖食品的专卖店“钱”途看好。近日看到一家无糖食品店,店内无糖食品种类繁多,有小食品、替代糖、饮料、糕点、进口食品等。店主李女士告诉记者,无糖食品店的主要顾客是糖尿病患者、肥胖儿童,为爱美而节食或不喜欢甜食的人也是店里的常客。   据了解,目前糖尿病患者出现了扩大化和年轻化的趋势,而随着瘦身概念的流行,以及小孩子防蛀牙的需要,无糖食品低糖食品的"市场需求将越来越大。这个创业点子必定火爆。无糖食品店的投资可大可小,小一点的投资3万元左右,其中首次进货1万到2万元。在店址选择上,无糖食品店一般可以选择靠近公园、医院等交通便利的地方。在创业初期不宜直接开在热闹繁华的商业街,因为开这样的店主要是做回头客的生意。   国外新型小投资创业项目4:改变睡觉方式的计算机硬件   由Thiel Fellow和James Proud共同成立的Hello公司,其主要产品是一款检测睡眠数据的健康设备。它由一个放在床边的小球Sense,和一个夹在你枕头上的Sleep Pill组成。Sleep Pill可以追踪你的移动并发送数据到Sense中,后者则是为了监测室内的温度、光线、声音和空气中的粒子。   该套系统对于你的睡眠情况进行分析,接着就通过iOS或者Android应用,在你的睡眠周期中合理的那一阶段来叫醒你。Sense在众筹阶段就大获成功,最终的筹资远远超过最初设定的10万美元的目标(筹得200万美元)。如果要问是什么使它不同于所有其他的声称可以监控你的睡眠的系统呢?我们觉得就是:“Sense希望你不仅仅意识到你的睡眠质量如何,还更要让你理解睡眠与身体健康的关系。”   5位白手起家外国富豪的传奇创业史   创业不是一帆风顺,也不是所有的人都能在一项业务上获得成功并坚持下去。同时,成功的创业者们,往往是热爱在多个领域开创机遇的。   由总部设在旧金山的创业组织“投资者和创业者”(Funders and Founders)制作出来一张信息图,用以展现那些传奇企业家是如何白手起家并连续创业的。   Funders and Founders还分析了世界上2013年的1426位亿万富翁。从中,这家公司得出结论,其中有960个白手起家型的企业家,其中830位曾从事过多种经营。   这里有5位亿万富豪,他们的第一份工作都是干嘛的呢?   维珍集团的创始人,理查德·布兰森的第一份工作是卖圣诞树;NBA达拉斯小牛队的老板马克·库班的是从卖垃圾袋起家的;拉斯维加斯金沙集团的CEO谢尔顿·阿德森的第一份工作是卖报纸;高朋团购的联合创始人埃里克·莱夫科夫斯基的第一份工作是卖地毯;还有一手创立特斯拉汽车和贝宝的艾伦·马斯克,他的第一份工作则是编写电子游戏。虽然他们出身卑微,但是这些白手起家的亿万富豪却有着改变时代方向的能力。 ;

Exceptional children are different in some significant way from others of the same age. For these children to develop to their full adult potential. their education must be adapted to those differences. Although we focus on the needs of exceptional children, we find ourselves describing their environment as well. While the leading actor on the stage captures our attention, we are aware of the importance of the supporting players and the scenery of the play itself. Both the family and the society in which exceptional children live are often the key to their growth and development. And it is in the public schools that we find the full expression of society"s understanding - the knowledge, hopes, and fears that are passed on to the next generation. Education in any society is a mirror of that society. In that mirror we can see the strengths, the weaknesses, the hopes, the prejudices, and the central values of the culture itself. The great interest in exceptional children shown in public education over the past three decades indicates the strong feeling in our society that all citizens, whatever their special conditions, deserve the opportunity to fully develop their capabilities. "All men are created equal." We"ve heard it many times, but it still has important meaning for education in a democratic society. Although the phrase was used by this country"s founders to denote equality before the law, it has also been interpreted to mean equality of opportunity. That concept implies educational opportunity for all children - the right of each child to receive help in learning to the limits of his or her capacity, whether that capacity be small or great. Recent court decisions have confirmed the right of all children - disabled or not - to an appropriate education, and have ordered that public schools take the necessary steps to provide that education. In response, schools are modifying their programs, adapting instruction to children who are exceptional, to those who cannot profit substantially from regular programs. 59. In paragrah 2 . the author cites the example of the leading actor on the stage to show that ________. [A] the growth of exceptional children has much to do with their family and the society [B] exceptional children are more influenced by their families than normal children are [C] exceptional children are the key interest of the family and society [D] the needs of the society weigh much heavier than the needs of the exceptional children 60. The reason that the exceptional children receive so much concern in education is that ________. [A] they are expected to be leaders of the society [B] they might become a burden of the society [C] they should fully develop their potentials [D] disabled children deserve special consideration 61. This passage mainly deals with ________. [A] the differences of children in their learning capabilities [B] the definition of exceptional children in modern society [C] the special educational programs for exceptional children [D] the necessity of adapting education to exceptional children 62. From this passage we learn that the educational concern for exceptional children ________. [A] is now enjoying legal support [B] disagrees with the tradition of the country [C] was clearly stated by the country"s founders [D] will exert great influence over court decisions 参考答案:ACDA 2019年6月大学英语四级阅读理解训练:医疗技术 "I have great confidence that by the end of the decade we"ll know in vast detail how cancer cells arise," says microbiologist Robert Weinberg, an expert on cancer. "But," he cautions, "some people have the idea that once one understands the causes, the cure will rapidly follow. Consider Pasteur, he discovered the causes of many kinds of infections, but it was fifty or sixty years before cures were available." This year, 50 percent of the 910,000 people who suffer from cancer will survive at least five years. In the year 2000, the National Cancer Institute estimates, that figure will be 75 percent. For some skin cancers, the five-year survival rate is as high as 90 percent. But other survival statistics are still discouraging - 13 percent for lung cancer, and 2 percent for cancer of the pancreas. With as many as 120 varieties in existence, discovering how cancer works is not easy. The researchers made great progress in the early 1970s, when they discovered that oncogenes, which are cancer-causing genes, are inactive in normal cells. Anything from cosmic rays to radiation to diet may activate a dormant oncogene, but how remains unknown. If several oncogenes are driven into action, the cell, unable to turn them off, becomes cancerous. The exact mechanisms involved are still mysterious, but the likelihood that many cancers are initiated at the level of genes suggests that we will never prevent all cancers. "Changes are a normal part of the evolutionary process," says oncologist William Hayward, Environmental factors can never be totally eliminated; as Hayward points out, "We can"t prepare a medicine against cosmic rays." The prospects for cure, though still distant, are brighter. "First, we need to understand how the normal cell controls itself, Second, we have to determine whether there are a limited number of genes in cells which are al-ways responsible for at least part of the trouble. If we can understand how cancer works, we can counteract its action." 63. The example of Pasteur in the passage is used to ?________. [A] predict that the secret of cancer will be disclosed in a decade [B] indicate that the prospects for curing cancer are bright [C] prove that cancer will be cured in fifty to sixty years [D] warn that there is still a long way to go before cancer can be conquered 64. The author implies that by the year 2000, ________. [A] there will be a drastic rise in the five-year survival rate of skin-cancer patients [B] 90 percent of he skin-cancer patients today will still be living [C] the survival statistics will be fairly even among patients with various cancers [D] there won" t be a drastic increase of survival rate of all cancer patients 65. By 1930, it had ten giant metropolises. The newer ones experienced remarkable growth, which reflected basic changes in the economy. The population of Los Angeles (114,000 in 1900) rose spectacularly in the early decades of the twentieth century, increasing a dramatic 1,400 percent from 1900 to 1930. A number of circumstances contributed to the meteoric rise of Los Angeles. The agricultural potential of the area was enormous if water for irrigation could be found, and the city founders had the vision and dating to obtain it by constructing a 225-mile aqueduct, completed in 1913, to tap the water of the Owens River. The city had a superb natural harbor, as well as excellent rail connections. The climate made it possible to shoot motion pictures year-round; hence Hollywood. Hollywood not only supplied jobs; it disseminated an image of the good life in Southern California on screens all across the nation. The most important single industry powering the growth of Los Angeles, however, was directly linked to the automobile. The demand for petroleum to fuel gasoline engines led to the opening of the Southern California oil fields, and made Los Angeles North America"s greatest refining center. Los Angeles was a product of the auto age in another sense as well: its distinctive spatial organization depended on widespread private ownership of automobiles. Los Angeles was a decentralized metropolis, sprawling across the desert landscape over an area of 400 square miles. It was a city without a real center. The downtown business district did not grow apace with the city as a whole, and the rapid transit system designed to link the center with outlying areas withered away from disuse. Approximately 800,000 cars were registered in Los Angeles County in 1930, one per 2.7 residents. Some visitors from the east coast were dismayed at the endless urban sprawl and dismissed Los Angeles as a mere collection of suburbs in search of a city. But the freedom and mobility of a city built on wheels attracted floods of migrants to the city. 1. What is the passage mainly about? These innovations in manufacturing boosted output and living standards to an unprecedented extent; the average per capita wealth increased by nearly 1 percent per year — 30 percent over the course of a generation. Goods that had once been luxury items became part of everyday life. The impressive gain in output stemmed primarily from the way in which workers made goods, since the 1790"s, North American entrepreneurs — even without technological improvements — had broadened the scope of the outwork system that made manufacturing more efficient by distributing materials to a succession of workers who each performed a single step of the production process. For example, during the 1820"s and 1830"s the shoe industry greatly expanded the scale and extend of the outwork system. Tens of thousands of rural women, paid according to the amount they produced, fabricated the uppers of shoes, which were bound to the soles by wage-earning journeymen shoemakers in dozens of Massachusetts towns, whereas previously journeymen would have made the entire shoe. This system of production made the employer a powerful shoe boss and eroded workers" control over the pace and conditions of labor. However, it also dramatically increased the output of shoes while cutting their price. For tasks that were not suited to the outwork system, entrepreneurs created an even more important new organization, the modem factory, which used power-driven machines and assembly-line techniques to turn out large quantities of well-made goods. As early as 1782 the prolific Delaware inventor Oliver Evans had built a highly automated, laborsaving flour mill driven by water power. His machinery lifted the grain to the top of the mill, cleaned it as it fell into containers known as hoppers, ground the grain into flour, and then conveyed the flour back to the top of the mill to allow it to cool as it descended into barrels. Subsequently, manufacturers made use of new improved stationary steam engines to power their mills. This new technology enabled them to build factories in the nation"s largest cities, taking advantage of urban concentrations of inexpensive labor, good transportation networks, and eager customers. 1. What is the passage mainly about? (A) The difficulties of industrialization in North America (B) The influence of changes in manufacturing on the growth of urban centers (C) The rapid speed of industrialization in North America (D) Improved ways of organizing the manufacturing of goods 2. The word boosted in line 3 is closest in meaning to (A) ensured (B) raised (C) arranged (D) discouraged 3. The word scope in line 9 is closest in meaning to (A) value (B) popularity (C) extent (D) diversity 4. The author mentions the shoe industry in the second paragraph to provide an example of how (A) entrepreneurs increased output by using an extended outwork system (B) entrepreneurs used technological improvements to increase output (C) rural workers responded to shoe bosses (D) changes in the outwork system improved the quality of shoes 5. All of the following are mentioned as effects of changes in the shoe industry during the 1820"s and 1830"s EXCEPT (A) an increase in the worker"s dependence on entrepreneurs (B) an increase in the wages paid to journeymen

1. HOW MUCH TIME DO THE OWNERS/LEADERS/FOUNDERS SPEND IN THE OFFICE? 1. “This question tells you whether or not you have leaders in place who are in touch with the work and making knowledgeable decisions. The best and brightest ideas oftentimes e directly from the people actually doing the work so if a leader rarely spends time with staff it points to a lack of innovation and support in their culture ” says Gardner. This question may not be quite as important to ask of a large business but “in a *** all business that interaction with the top level may be key to you getting ahead being able to get things done and having that person"s vision be carried out by their team ” Santopietro P *** l says. It “might also give you a key to the level of the workaholi *** that you can expect there. If the recruiter says ‘oh our CEO Sally is here 90 hours a week she never takes a day off!" you"re going to know that the culture is going to be very focused on putting in a lot of hours with a lot of face time.” 2. WHAT DO PEOPLE ON THE TEAM THAT I"D BE JOINING DO FOR LUNCH EVERY DAY? 2. “Finding out what people tend to do on their lunch hour will tell you whether they are slammed with work don"t want to spend time with their colleagues or tend to be social and enjoy each other"s pany ” Bowman says. “This information can also tell you whether or not your potential colleagues might be more extroverted or introverted. Depending on your own preferences this response can give you some valuable insight into the team that you"re joining.” 3. HOW DO YOU MEASURE SUCCESS AND OVER WHAT TIME FRAME? HOW ARE THESE METRICS DETERMINED? 3. If you want to avoid a boss with outrageous expectations this is the question to ask. “Before you accept an offer you need to know that your new boss has realistic expectations with respect to what you will acplish and by when ” Cohen says. “No matter how attractive an offer may be if you do not or cannot deliver results you will fail. So if you are told that the bar is outrageously high and you don"t have enough time to e up to speed think ice before accepting the terms without discussion or negotiation.” 4. WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO SHOW ME AROUND THE OFFICE? This question is probably best saved for a last-round interview so you don"t seem too intrusive but “taking a walk around the workspace is a great way to get a real feel for the day-to-day culture ” Larchar says. “Are individuals interacting with one another? Do the workers look stressed? Are the individual workspaces decorated? What is the setup of the office? Does the work space seem inclusive? How are the departments anized?

If I had my way I would write the word "insure" over every door of every cottage and upon the blotting book of every public man, because I am convinced that, for sacrifices that are conceivably small, families can be secured against catastrophes which otherwise would smash them forever

First Inaugural Address of William Jefferson Clinton My fellow citizens: Today we celebrate the mystery of American renewal. This ceremony is held in the depth of winter. But, by the words we speak and the faces we show the world, we force the spring. A spring reborn in the world"s oldest democracy, that brings forth the vision and courage to reinvent America. When our founders boldly declared America"s independence to the world and our purposes to the Almighty, they knew that America, to endure, would have to change. Not change for change"s sake, but change to preserve America"s ideals—life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. Though we march to the music of our time, our mission is timeless. Each generation of Americans must define what it means to be an American. On behalf of our nation, I salute my predecessor, President Bush, for his half-century of service to America. And I thank the millions of men and women whose steadfastness and sacrifice triumphed over Depression, fascism and Communism. Today, a generation raised in the shadows of the Cold War assumes new responsibilities in a world warmed by the sunshine of freedom but threatened still by ancient hatreds and new plagues. Raised in unrivaled prosperity, we inherit an economy that is still the world"s strongest, but is weakened by business failures, stagnant wages, increasing inequality, and deep divisions among our people. When George Washington first took the oath I have just sworn to uphold, news traveled slowly across the land by horseback and across the ocean by boat. Now, the sights and sounds of this ceremony are broadcast instantaneously to billions around the world. Communications and commerce are global; investment is mobile; technology is almost magical; and ambition for a better life is now universal. We earn our livelihood in peaceful competition with people all across the earth. Profound and powerful forces are shaking and remaking our world, and the urgent question of our time is whether we can make change our friend and not our enemy. This new world has already enriched the lives of millions of Americans who are able to compete and win in it. But when most people are working harder for less; when others cannot work at all; when the cost of health care devastates families and threatens to bankrupt many of our enterprises, great and small; when fear of crime robs law-abiding citizens of their freedom; and when millions of poor children cannot even imagine the lives we are calling them to lead—we have not made change our friend. We know we have to face hard truths and take strong steps. But we have not done so. Instead, we have drifted, and that drifting has eroded our resources, fractured our economy, and shaken our confidence. Though our challenges are fearsome, so are our strengths. And Americans have ever been a restless, questing, hopeful people. We must bring to our task today the vision and will of those who came before us. From our revolution, the Civil War, to the Great Depression to the civil rights movement, our people have always mustered the determination to construct from these crises the pillars of our history. Thomas Jefferson believed that to preserve the very foundations of our nation, we would need dramatic change from time to time. Well, my fellow citizens, this is our time. Let us embrace it. Our democracy must be not only the envy of the world but the engine of our own renewal. There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America. And so today, we pledge an end to the era of deadlock and drift—a new season of American renewal has begun. To renew America, we must be bold. We must do what no generation has had to do before. We must invest more in our own people, in their jobs, in their future, and at the same time cut our massive debt. And we must do so in a world in which we must compete for every opportunity. It will not be easy; it will require sacrifice. But it can be done, and done fairly, not choosing sacrifice for its own sake, but for our own sake. We must provide for our nation the way a family provides for its children. Our Founders saw themselves in the light of posterity. We can do no less. Anyone who has ever watched a child"s eyes wander into sleep knows what posterity is. Posterity is the world to come—the world for whom we hold our ideals, from whom we have borrowed our planet, and to whom we bear sacred responsibility. We must do what America does best: offer more opportunity to all and demand responsibility from all. It is time to break the bad habit of expecting something for nothing, from our government or from each other. Let us all take more responsibility, not only for ourselves and our families but for our communities and our country. 26 To renew America, we must revitalize our democracy. This beautiful capital, like every capital since the dawn of civilization, is often a place of intrigue and calculation. Powerful people maneuver for position and worry endlessly about who is in and who is out, who is up and who is down, forgetting those people whose toil and sweat sends us here and pays our way. Americans deserve better, and in this city today, there are people who want to do better. And so I say to all of us here, let us resolve to reform our politics, so that power and privilege no longer shout down the voice of the people. Let us put aside personal advantage so that we can feel the pain and see the promise of America. Let us resolve to make our government a place for what Franklin Roosevelt called "bold, persistent experimentation," a government for our tomorrows, not our yesterdays. Let us give this capital back to the people to whom it belongs. To renew America, we must meet challenges abroad as well at home. There is no longer division between what is foreign and what is domestic—the world economy, the world environment, the world AIDS crisis, the world arms race—they affect us all. Today, as an old order passes, the new world is more free but less stable. Communism"s collapse has called forth old animosities and new dangers. Clearly America must continue to lead the world we did so much to make. While America rebuilds at home, we will not shrink from the challenges, nor fail to seize the opportunities, of this new world. Together with our friends and allies, we will work to shape change, lest it engulf us. When our vital interests are challenged, or the will and conscience of the international community is defied, we will act—with peaceful diplomacy when ever possible, with force when necessary. The brave Americans serving our nation today in the Persian Gulf, in Somalia, and wherever else they stand are testament to our resolve. But our greatest strength is the power of our ideas, which are still new in many lands. Across the world, we see them embraced—and we rejoice. Our hopes, our hearts, our hands, are with those on every continent who are building democracy and freedom. Their cause is America"s cause. The American people have summoned the change we celebrate today. You have raised your voices in an unmistakable chorus. You have cast your votes in historic numbers. And you have changed the face of Congress, the presidency and the political process itself. Yes, you, my fellow Americans have forced the spring. Now, we must do the work the season demands. To that work I now turn, with all the authority of my office. I ask the Congress to join with me. But no president, no Congress, no government, can undertake this mission alone. My fellow Americans, you, too, must play your part in our renewal. I challenge a new generation of young Americans to a season of service—to act on your idealism by helping troubled children, keeping company with those in need, reconnecting our torn communities. There is so much to be done—enough indeed for millions of others who are still young in spirit to give of themselves in service, too. In serving, we recognize a simple but powerful truth—we need each other. And we must care for one another. Today, we do more than celebrate America; we rededicate ourselves to the very idea of America. An idea born in revolution and renewed through 2 centuries of challenge. An idea tempered by the knowledge that, but for fate, we—the fortunate and the unfortunate—might have been each other. An idea ennobled by the faith that our nation can summon from its myriad diversity the deepest measure of unity. An idea infused with the conviction that America"s long heroic journey must go forever upward. And so, my fellow Americans, at the edge of the 21st century, let us begin with energy and hope, with faith and discipline, and let us work until our work is done. The scripture says, "And let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not." From this joyful mountaintop of celebration, we hear a call to service in the valley. We have heard the trumpets. We have changed the guard. And now, each in our way, and with God"s help, we must answer the call. Thank you and God bless you all.

It has been developed together with the national sports career since 1949, and it really has brought a lot of encouragements and happiness in the past 50 years. The National Table Tennis Team was founded in 1952. It has won more than 100 world gold medals which include the first world gold medal of the PRC, the first women"s world gold medal and the first team world gold medal. It had also won all the gold medals at the World Table Tennis Championships for three times and at the Olympic Games for two times. Of course, it experienced its ebbs. But it has been a first class team in the world for more than 50 years, which is a miracle in the world. Some of its founders had passed away, and most of the players are old, yet the new comers are growing up and are initiating a new period. Yesterday"s honor is a flag, it leads today"s National Table Tennis Team to continue this miracle in the vigorous world table tennis circle. The National Table Tennis Team began to join in the World Table Tennis Championships in 1953, the 20th World Table Tennis Championships. Now she has married Lin Zhigang, who came from Guangdong Provincial Team and had been a main force in the National Team, for several years. They had been in love for many years. Their house was near to the Longtan Lake in Chongwen Distrill of Beijing. It has two classes, t. e. China Table Tennis Super League and China Table Tennis League. The China Table Tennis Super League requests high-level players, thus many foreign players want to play in it just like the football players" dream of playing in the five world league competitions. In 2005, 14 foreign players (including the Athens Olympic Games medallist Liu Chengmin, the world silver medal winner Zhu Shihe, the German famous World Cups medallist Boll, the Denmark famous World Championships medallist Maze and the Japanese player Fukuhara Ai ) joined in the China Table Tennis Super League. This made the China Table Tennis Super league became the top-level table tennis competitions in the world. What"s more, many international table tennis championships have been held in China in recent years. It not only shows China"s level and strength in table tennis but also improves the internationalization of the China Table Tennis Super League. The president of International Table Tennis Foundation Sharara said that he supported China Table Tennis Association to develop China Table Tennis Super League in to a world-level match.
