“飞无须翼，胜无须剑” 的颂词。公元前九百年所罗门王曾用「优美」二字来颂扬那些为法老王拉车的马；公元前490年，一位有名的希腊骑士 Xenophon 也赞美过这种高贵而美丽生物。但是 “阿拉伯马” 这名字从何而来？ ”阿拉伯” 这名词被用来当作一个民族的名称或是一种个马品种或民族之前好几个世纪，就有这种马存在了。　　「阿拉伯」这名词的起源仍然不是很清楚，一般都联想到游牧民族。希伯来文 “Arabha” 是黑暗陆地或大草原，另一个希伯来文 “Erebh” 是有组织有秩序的定居社会的反意词，还有一个字根 ”Abhar-“ 是移动、经过的意思。”Arab” 在闪米特(Semitic)文是沙漠或其居民的意思，没有涉及国家的意义。在可兰经中 ”a"rab” 是指贝多因人。圣经中有记载阿拉伯王(Kings of Arabia)杰里迈亚(Jeremiah)生于公元前625年到公元前586年。而阿拉伯民族自己在很早以前也用这个字来指贝多因人，以区别其它的沙漠游牧民族。　　闪米特人将这些他们称为 “Arabas” 的热血马的名声带到高峰，贝多因人致力于保持这沙漠骏马的血统纯正，衍生出优异的特质与质量。母马是贝多因人最珍贵的财产，严峻的沙漠环境只允许最强壮的马生存，这些因素共同造就了今日阿拉伯马的特质。 　　阿拉伯马是非常聪明的马，细心、敏感、敏锐，不仅对人类或其它动物很和善，也很会为自己着想。它最有名的就是，如果想要强迫它做它不想做的事，可会领教它的硬脾气，但对于他们所信任的人，却会表现英勇、忠心服从。由于它来自炙热的沙漠，薄的皮肤和身体上的特质让它们可以容易散热，但也不会像纯种马那样对冷天气非常敏感。也许是因为天生的敏感聪睿，初学者或小朋友也都可以操控地很好。操控缰绳无须费劲，平均的高度适合成人或青少年骑乘，温柔亲切的个性让它成为很好的家庭马。同时它也是很好的比赛马，受到很多马术爱好者的欢迎，也常在各种不同比赛脱颖而出。阿拉伯马的外型特征非常的独特，你一定不会认错。人们除了喜欢它的速度、耐力、聪明、温柔以外，也深深的被它的外型所吸引。常常可以看到许多外型优美的模特儿马，或是专为阿拉伯马办的选美比赛呢！　　头　　阿拉伯马有一个美丽、精致的头，前额稍短而宽、成楔型。脸的侧面最好是凹的。　　眼　　眼睛特别地大而且突起，深遂且流露感情。　　耳　　两边离很开，经常会前前后后动来动去。　　鼻　　最好的是可以放进一品脱容量水罐的大鼻孔，鼻孔干净灵活，可以大量换气呼出热气让身体冷却。　　肩与胸　　背短而直，鬐甲长且突出。　　鬐甲与背　　肩膀强壮，顷斜角度良好；鬐甲适当的突出。　　皮毛　　柔细，夏天毛很短，冬天毛稍长且密。鬃毛和尾巴细长如丝。　　尾　　很灵活，喜欢翘高高，有时与背齐高或稍高，兴奋的时候高度会超过背。　　毛色　　主要为单色系的栗色，灰色另外三个颜色，骝色、棕色、黑色。脚和头上有些会有白色标识，但是不会出现在身上。　　身高　　通常在142到153公分之间。 Organization)赞助阿拉伯马在国际上各种竞赛项目出赛。而阿拉伯马的耐力，更是他所有出色的特质中最显要的。它传奇般的耐力，让它在各种长距离骑乘的领域表现举世无双。各种耐力赛的大奖，永远是被阿拉伯马拿走。然而许多人有一个错误的印象，认为阿拉伯马不会跳跃。它当然会跳，只是因为身高的关系，在高等级的三日赛与障碍超越赛里比较少看到他的身影。　　更重要而且明显的，这阿拉伯贝多因人的遗产以它独一无二的能力与人们共处，使得它成为家庭的一份子，家中任何年龄的成员都喜欢它。越来越多的人喜爱阿拉伯马，甚至举办马的选美，产生许多明星、模特儿。由于美国有许多适合养马的农场，目前在美国的阿拉伯马数量，比世界上其它国家的总数量还多，最好的阿拉伯马与繁殖场都在美国。
