2002年，年仅31岁的熊立仲从美国学成归国，在华中农业大学生命科学技术学院任教授、博士生导师。31岁，许多处于这个年龄人的事业才刚刚起步，而他却已经成为一名大学的教授，并领导了一支规模适度、创新能力强的水稻抗旱研究队伍，奋战于水稻抗旱这一难度非常大而且国际竞争空前激烈的研究领域。在研究实验中，他所领导的团队建立了水稻抗旱基础和应用的研究平台，并且从多个途径、不同角度深入开展了以水稻抗旱和水分养分高效为主题的分子基础和遗传改良方面的研究，并取得了显著成绩，对农业科技和社会经济的发展均作出了重大贡献。近五年，熊立仲主持和承担了973项目课题、国家自然科学基金、国家杰出青年科学基金、教育部、美国洛克菲勒基金课题、欧盟国际合作项目课题等10多项国家级科研课题和3项国际合作课题。在研究工作中，他不断创新，以第一作者或通讯作者发表SCI收录论文18篇，有影响因子在5.0以上论文6篇。其论文被他人引用达300多次，其中单篇引用最高次数可达71次。他共申请了中国专利11项，国际专利2项。在2003年到2007年期间，他应邀参加的国际性学术会议共11次，大会或特邀报告5 次。在这段时间内，熊立仲还获得了中国青年科技奖、教育部青年教师资助计划（2003）、教育部新世纪优秀人才计划 （2004）、湖北青年五四奖章（2007）、国家杰出青年科学基金（2007）、全国青年联合会第十届委员等多个奖项及荣誉称号。而在所有的这些荣誉和光环背后，是熊立仲鲜为人知的刻苦钻研、奋发图强的精神。从大学时代起，他就十分热爱学习，对待科学知识孜孜不倦。自投身于科学研究的那天起，他便整日工作在实验室，专心搞研究。在做实验的过程中，他勇于创新、敢于突破；在国内外交流研究中，他谦虚好学，与他人紧密合作，并得到了同行的认可。他是国家培养起来的植物生命科学领域里的佼佼者。 熊立仲同志在获得博士后的学位后，主动申请回到祖国，回到培养了他9年的母校，并立刻以满腔的热情和刻苦钻研的科学精神致力于我国的农业科技发展。众所周知，在美国，他可能获得比国内更好的做研究的环境，可能有更先进的技术与设备条件，可能有更多的专家学者与其合作，还可能有更好的待遇与发展。但是，熊立仲都放弃了，义无反顾地选择了回到自己的祖国。当时的他到底怀着怎样的想法我们无从得知，但是，同样作为一名中国人，那颗永远赤诚的爱国心每个人都能感受的到。最为可贵的是，他的行为并不是每一个留学海外的学子都能够做到的。在归国回校后，熊立仲就开始着手建设创新团队，发展学校学科。他在华中农业大学建立起一个水稻抗旱研究学术团队。该团队的各位老师以共同承担美国洛氏基金课题以及国家重要课题为基础，通过系统的科学研究和高频率的技术培训和交流，培养出了一批在植物逆境分子生物学、功能基因组学和作物遗传改良等研究领域有国际竞争能力的学术骨干和技术人才。该团队在熊立仲的带领下，不断在研究中提高创新能力和学术水平，加强国际合作，不断提高国际地位和影响力，成为了国际一流的创新团队。近几年，在人才培养方面，培养了博士毕业生4人,硕士毕业生6人，在读博士生10人（含国外留学生1人），在读硕士生12人。在学科发展方面，该团队以科研和应用基础为重点，通过生物化学、分子生物学、基因组学和分子生物学等学科的综合增强研究实力。同时他们充分发挥作物遗传改良国家重点实验室的传统优势，将理论研究成果向提高作物抗逆、产量和品质等应用研究的实践进行转化。总之，熊立仲在领导创新团队、建设学术梯队、培养青年人才方面做出了巨大的努力与贡献。 或许是出身农村的缘故，或许是因为从农业大学走出来的缘故，又或许是他的农学专业使然，熊立仲一直很热爱和关心农业、农村、农民的发展，对三农问题十分关注。他经常带领团队深入农村基层，通过做研究、搞实习，与农民互相交流经验。在向农民学习的同时，他也给农民带去了新的技术和方法，增加了农民的收入，提高了农民对农业的信心。在基层，他经历颇多，体验颇多，感受颇多，也收获颇多。他心中的那一份热爱农村的情怀和那一份成就灿烂人生的坚定理想永不改变！正是这情怀和理想给了他责任感和使命感，推动他运用自己的智慧投身于改变农业技术落后的现状的事业中。所以，在许多人正千方百计离开农村的时候，他带着知识和技术投入到了对水稻--这个最重要的粮食作物之一的研究中，而他也正用他的智慧和责任悄然地给这片土地带来改变。这些改变不仅给农村带去了希望，而且让他实现了自己的人生价值。在中国这样一个发展中的农业大国，农业技术尤显重要，农村需要千千万万像熊立仲这样的技术型人才从事农业一线研究，为农业发展解决疑难问题，提供技术支持。熊立仲，一位年轻的教授、导师，一位普通的科学工作者，一位心系祖国发展的归国学子，用他的水稻方面的科学研究，用他的智慧与责任心架起了沟通研究与实践、科技与农村、国内与国外的桥梁。【已发表文章】Major publication:1.
